It depends on what you wanna do, take an exemple from the video : he uses Mind Flail to help his friend to get the last guy cause he's running away, so I'd say it would be good for Arenas only since it's not a good idea to be everything at the same time. Cause if you do that, you'll have equal powers in both spec (Heal + dps) and will have no specialities (Spec) to focus on. In arenas it's good if you can do 2 Jobs at the same time Like the priest in this Video is Dps + Heal.
By the way a bit of advice, get a Scorpid pet they stack poisons which makes it extremely difficult for a Druid or Shaman to remove Viper Sting on them.
I recommend a good MM Hunter as the best pal for a Disc Priest in 2s. Problem is they are probably the rarest thing to find in all of WoW. They have to be specced just right, have a Scorpid pet, and actually understand their class well. I've had about a dozen Hunter partners before finally settling on one.
You go about Mage/Rogue all wrong. You don't care about draining the Mage's mana so much as you just wanna kill the Mage. Hunter avoid Frostbolt and Frost Novas at all times and you should be good.
I am playing a 70 hunter on french server. Playing a hunter in arena is very difficult, cause you will be disturbed by the kiting much more than any other class. Warlock have instant spell, mage can teleport himself, as an hunter you have some skills to decelerate your enemy, but good healers often manage to kite you. But if you find the right partner a hunter can be absolutely amazing in arena. I reach 2250 in 2v2 Season 3 and I am now 2050 in Season 4. I am survival playing with rogue :D

I've not faced good hunters? believe me, I find them painstakingly annoying. Vipersting/silencing shot pisses me right off. Scare beast will never finish cast time before I'm back in caster form. My MS Warrior will kill your pet, 3 times in one arena if need be. I'll prowl every chance I get, cyclone hunter and let him watch his priest die. Tell me I've never fought good hunters. but tell them they've fought better druids.

Statistically speaking hunters are doing pretty bad in the arenas as they are not highly represented in tops teams. So even the best players aren't succeeding with hunters.

To be honest, priest/hunter is a terrible 2's combo if u want to get a decent rating. theres just too many combos than can beat it easily, no matter ur skill level (assuming the other team knows how to play). warr/druid, rogue/druid, mage/mage, rogue/rogue, rogue/mage, mage/warr. All cc on the priest, all dps/stuns on the hunter and its game.
this is a war druid stomper. all the hunter has to do is kite the warrior and keep vipersting on the druid. And witha scropid pet yo "hide" the vipersting and the priest mana burning the druid will be oom alot faster then the priest.
hunters cannot kite warriors, melee range > trap range. bear form druids arent affected by viper sting or mana burn. the druid only comes out of bear form when timed with a feral charge/stun/cyclone on the priest, and intimidating shout/mace stun/intercept on the hunter, then back into bear form, and behind another pillar. The hamstrung hunter can only melee the warrior, and hope that the warrior is bad enough to get to close to the trap. Educated comments ONLY please.
That's when you start a half mana burn on the druid so he sees you, make sure it doesn't go off so you don't waste mana, cause that druid just wasted ~600 mana to go bear form.
