  • I really enjoy your reviews. Since you liked Hugo, I suggest you check out a couple of the directors whom Scorsese likes and was influenced by. Michael Powell, whose Red Shoes ad Black Narcissus are among Scorsese's favorites, was married to Thelma Schoonmaker, who edits all of the Scorsese films. I also suggest The 400 blows, Shoot the Piano Player and Jules and Jim by Francois Truffaut. Then there's The Bicycle Thief by Vittorio Di Sica. Yes, these are foreign but well worth a look.
