We have had lasik patients well into their 60's. At 35 that is an average age for us to treat. Fear is the #1 thing holding folks back from lasik, # 2 $. Many centers offer interest free payment plans.
I wonder if thier is an age limit on this,Im 35 ,going on 36 and have worn glasses since I was 13.since 1989.Im nearsighted with astigmatism. only thing stopping me,now is lack of money,I probably wanna try and get this done before 2013.
FDA says 18 but age alone is not sufficient. We like to be sure the patients eyes are stable with slight or no change for a couple years. Often when we see a young patient we like to get their records for the past 2-3 years to check the numbers. If there is a question Dr. Frangie may ask the patient to wait 6 mo., a year, or even longer in some cases.
Intralase was first introduced in Europe in the late 90's and was approved in the USA in 2001. We purchase our laser in 2003. Since that time no-blade lasik has become the standard of care.
Light sensitivity is common for a couple days following so sunglasses. We ask no swimming or hot tub for two week. Avoiding the public water so as not to get an infection. No eye make-up for one week. There are eye drops for 7 days following the procedure.
what i don't get when i see that laser making the flap is the part why isn't the upper layer not go away i don't know much about this but its just a question i did got this treatment only my left eye i see double vision :( and is a bit blurred i did got it about 1 week ago
At 16 your eyes are still changing so stick with contacts or glasses for at least another five years. You may reconsider in your 20's. We have been very successful in treating hire prescriptions with both No-Blade Lasik and PRK.
My eyesight has dropped significantly annually, and now at 16 years old my eyesight is at -9.5 in both eyes. I do not feel comfortable at all to have this procedure though
Just come back from Moorfields Hospital having had this done at midday...and it is a miracle. Here I am writing this without glasses having worn them for over 30 years. Just amazing.
@macromagic How much did it cost? Im only 15 and my eyesight is -4.50 and im really really scared of going blind and im not sure if i want lasik because ive seen mixed reviews and people told me its a huge risk
Intralase, as seen here in the video, is a Femtosecond laser technology that has increased the efficacy and safety of the LASIK procedure. Offering thinner, more precise flaps than mechanical keratomes and offsetting the risk associated with mechanical devices. Femtosecond technology (Intralase laser) cleaves corneal tissue at precise, predetermined depths by using short-duration energy pulses.
@Blobsterisation ik it sounds like nothing but i cant fucking see anything like boards in school or when somebodys far the eye contact is akward like idk if somebodys looking at me or not
@ritajay59 exaggerated bullshit. I remember when i had -1.5 as it wasn't too long ago (mine deteriorated relatively quickly)
-1.5 was just a bit irritating like distances were a bit blurred and yes you would need glasses for school boards. But really LOL you knnnnoww when people are looking at you don't be silly.
