And the point to pressing the button is, when the dharma people had their "incedint" they actually hit a massive pocket of energy, and the only way to contain it was to build the swan station over it, once they push the button the energy is converted and used to power everything they have on the island, when the key is turned it cuts off the energy conversion process and the energy then implodes the swan afterwords.
yup that what I got from it I just watched season 2 and figured that out especially since nobody asked how the island is getting power. however the berexes might have old generators because they were before the pocket was found. but how did the orchid have power now that's a question.

Maybe there were shifts. You were scheduled for station 1-5, and the sixth station is either nothing important or they tell you what all the other stations' true meanings are (like how number 5 was actually the test, not the other 4.)

i found it interesting that they found all the tubes on the ground as if no one was picking them up ("ep. 2x23 Live Together, Die Alone"). desmond was right when he said the experiment is on the people in the pearl, not the other stations.
that was cool that they had video tracking to make it look real, however the tracking when the video starts to spazz out is fake. That looks more like tracking that would occur with an analog television set. Video tapes arent usually that fuzzy (soundwise) when they wear out like that.

I think there is a timeline, in when our Losties didn't flash into the 70's.. but WHAT me confuses is:
(In season 2) how can they find both the swan film and the pearl film, because these two films were created in two different timelines:
- The swan film after the incident HAPPEND (season 5)
- The pearl film after the incident DID NOT HAPPEN (not seen in any season)
I think the answer is, that the PRESENT of our losties (everytime) consists of two timelines that cross-over.

What's even weirder with this tape is that at certain points you can only see the upper half of the Doc's face, but I swear that the movements of his upper face don't match the audio track.
Is it likely that these sections were spliced in, and the reason for only showing the upper half of his face is due to the fact that he was probably wearing a labcoat and necktie in those sections. This is really curious...

Those sections were added in by the user who uploaded this video. Those moments during the video in the actual show were when they showed Eko and Locke watching the video.

Maybe there were shifts. You were scheduled for station 1-5, and the sixth station is either nothing important or they tell you what all the other stations' true meanings are (like how number 5 was actually the test, not the other 4.)

i found it interesting that they found all the tubes on the ground as if no one was picking them up ("ep. 2x23 Live Together, Die Alone"). desmond was right when he said the experiment is on the people in the pearl, not the other stations.

that was cool that they had video tracking to make it look real, however the tracking when the video starts to spazz out is fake. That looks more like tracking that would occur with an analog television set. Video tapes arent usually that fuzzy (soundwise) when they wear out like that.
