People like to be knowledgeable and smart.. but lose the notion of being challenged or to think critically when there is instant gratification in the form of catering to their sexual/dramatic/spiritual needs.
Her argument of production value to teach science, I believe is fallacious. Palatability is not something science is, nor aims. However, what science does, and does extremely well is this discussion. @Narzedie7001 I couldn't disagree more. The idea that well produced, well made, inspirational documentaries, shows, movies,etc.. is very important. Look at the great success of the BBC productions like Planet Earth.

"Television is a reflection of who we are" .. so true ...
Most popular shows these days :
- Reality TV shows
- 700 club - Pat Robertson
- Beauty Pageants with increasingly dumber contestants.
If they spent half the advertising money that went into the superbowl half-time, on useful progams like Cosmos. Viewership will definitely go up.....

I recently saw news that Druyan, Neil Tyson, and Seth MacFarlane are doing a new Cosmos series that should start airing in 2013.
I'm curious to see how that turns out.
