This dog is obviously not a fashion accessory. It is a service dog to cheer people in hospitals up. I would be really happy and surprised if a blue dog came to see me when I was sick in the hospital. Humans dying their hair and putting on makeup isn't cruel so what's wrong with doing it to a dog? I'm sure as long as they are loved and fed and get to play, they don't care what color they are.

This is not animal abuse. Animal abuse is when dogs are beaten, starved, neglected, and emotionally hurt. These dogs are perfectly healthy, not only that, this dog is a therapy dog and is helping alot of people. I'm sure he gets alot of love and attention from the patients and is certainly NOT abused.
Thing is, other dogs dont recognize blue dogs as dogs. my dog saw a coloured poodle once and was scared of it. Another dog may attack it. It gives conflicts between dogs....Coloring your hair blue is fine, but dont decide for a animal. Its not natural. Every 4 weeks? And how long doed that dog need to stand while colouring???? Yegh makes me sick to see this, humanizing dogs...

This poodle in particular is a therapy dog and is most likely used to standing or walking for about that time or longer. Plus, the poodle wouldn't be standing up during the entire dying process; it would be sitting or laying in a tub filled with a mixture of dye and water, or the tub would be empty and the dye sponged on, [cont. in next post]

@hutseflutsel for most likely 10 or 20 minutes depending on the dye. Your dog may have not been afraid of the color of the poodle, but the poodle itself. Especially if it's never seen one before. It is silly to make the generalization that just because your dog freaked out when it saw a blue poodle all dogs will react the same way. If a dog is willing to attack an alternatively colored dog, then they have aggression issues and will most likely attack any other dog they see.[cont. in next post]

@hutseflutsel I fail to find any instances of a dog being attacked simply because of it's color. Unlike some humans, dogs don't judge each other by fur color (actually their color spectrum is extremely limited as compared to humans). As decendants of wolves, they base their opinions off of size, assessments of fighting ability, potential for breeding, aggresiveness, etc. However, if they've been trained correctly, they get along fine with others without the wolf instincts kicking in.
I must say that I think people are overreacting about dying this dogs fur. If it is a therapy dog, the coloured dyes will help bring a little happiness to a child who is suffering!!
I think it is a wonderful idea if it has a purpose.

Coloring your dog has nothing to do with cruelty. I've seen plenty of animals that are NOT colored and are sadly neglected.
When people invest money coloring their dogs is not to just abandon them later like other people do. People invest money on dogs they truly love and care for.

@animelover828 By the way, a poodle is a hunting dog for waterbirds. My dog is a munsterlander, also a hunting dog for birds. It would be torture to a active dog like mine to be busy with the 'looks' all the time. And I think that is for all dogs. Af course this dog is used to it, but I really hope he can also play and run for hours everyday...

@hutseflutsel for most likely 10 or 20 minutes depending on the dye. Your dog may have not been afraid of the color of the poodle, but the poodle itself. Especially if it's never seen one before. It is silly to make the generalization that just because your dog freaked out when it saw a blue poodle all dogs will react the same way. If a dog is willing to attack an alternatively colored dog, then they have aggression issues and will most likely attack any other dog they see.[cont. in next post]

@hutseflutsel I fail to find any instances of a dog being attacked simply because of it's color. Unlike some humans, dogs don't judge each other by fur color (actually their color spectrum is extremely limited as compared to humans). As decendants of wolves, they base their opinions off of size, assessments of fighting ability, potential for breeding, aggresiveness, etc. However, if they've been trained correctly, they get along fine with others without the wolf instincts kicking in.

I must say that I think people are overreacting about dying this dogs fur. If it is a therapy dog, the coloured dyes will help bring a little happiness to a child who is suffering!!
I think it is a wonderful idea if it has a purpose.

Coloring your dog has nothing to do with cruelty. I've seen plenty of animals that are NOT colored and are sadly neglected.
When people invest money coloring their dogs is not to just abandon them later like other people do. People invest money on dogs they truly love and care for.
People complaining against this should get a life and complain elsewhere where dogs are REALLY neglected and abused.
I love the idea of coloring my dog with safe dyes, why not? I'm not hurting him in any way.

Obviously, animals don't care what color they are. They could be hotpink for all they care. Also, dogs get strapped when you take them to the groomers if they're too hyperactive. It's not a big deal. Blues Clues dog ain't got a clue he's blue.

@chunlired No different then buying color soaps for our kids to color their bodies in the bathtub, or putting makeup all over their bodies/faces for Halloween. Or the safe wash out dyes we put in our kids' hair for Halloween, or heck the dye we put into foods to color our white cakes lol I'm with you chunlired, it doesn't hurt them and all the videos I've seen, these dogs are gently groomed, I pay a nice dollar to get my dog groomed, AND we dress him up in a superman shirt with a cape lol

I have seen a couple of colored dogs on youtube and i have to say I think it's ridiculous but it does look better on bigger dogs with dark colors. I have learned to not to be so apposed to it.... Unless it's a chihuahua... God damn rats
