  • Love that you take your time creating videos like this.

I use Akai MPK49 with FL Studio. Not the same, but still :)

Always nice to learn from people who know!!

  • Dope dude!!

  • Nice!

  • what is threshold? sorry dude im a complete nooobie

  • can the mpc automatically make a sample 4 measures long from a specific starting point?

  • if i buy one of these what do i have to plug it into in order for it to work and to put samples on it

  • Which JJ Os are you using ? And have u had any glitches or problems with it?? I still have my 1000.. I was forced to upgrade.. So I got the 5000.. Cause the encoder wheel went bad.U turn it up it would go back down and stay on what u have selected.I must of waited a year and a half before I couldn`t take it anymore..It just kept getting worse and worse.. And nobody had the replacement part.LOL Now they got it.. And I`m gonna replace it one of these days.I`m stuck on my 5000..

  • Awzum thanks for sharing

  • hey man can you make a video on how to work through a final mix.

  • Hey I had a question for you well two to be exact? How can I make a complete song and whats the difference between "track" and "sequence"? Im a noob w/ a MPC 1000 and really want to learn please dont laugh at me!

  • EXCELLENT DEMO !!

Nicely done squire, must keep an eye out for one of those on ebay :)

  • Thanks for shedding the light with the videos \,,,/

  • Great vid man. Would you advise learning the basic Akai Os before the jjo

    s?

  • Great vid man. Would you advise learning the basic Akai Os before the jjos?

  • The same sample!!!!!/watch?v=Lw2oRdJpLeA

  • Excellent! Very appreciated!

  • Exc

  • Love the sound... I had some noob questions though... where can I find your email? I want to record my beats to a folder on my pc how would I do so?

  • nice production, diggin the profile name too,lol nice

  • thank dude i need that info

  • hot man, i have a question how many tracks can u have per song? i mean 1 track for the drums, and how many for the samples?

  • @Punctgramatical JJ OS gives you 99 tracks. I don't remember how many you get with akai os.

  • nice breakdown of the mpc1000. Im thiking of purchasing it, and after watching this video, I'm more inclined to get it!

  • Sick beat man :)

  • 2 people know nothing about music

  • any one actually understand the mpc ?

  • subtitles ITA pleasee

  • Is it possible to create a template where you already have all your pads set up to 'group 1' so they cut eachother off?

Seems silly to group each pad every time.

  • @11KNU Not sure I understand the question.

  • @onelonedork i think he's saying he wants to make a beat in a 3/4 time signature

and what version of JJ OS is this in this video?

  • Hey man, great vid. I am trying to figure it out. What mode are you in at 2:49? Trying to find the correct screen to make the changes. Thanks.

  • why when i try to load my sample it wont load it will play it but i can build a kit thats for help

  • Great video! Nice beat also. Thanks for posting!!

  • Why i have to change poly in mono? And could you please explain a little what did these two things mean?

    BTW. Great Tutorials! Apreciate theme.

  • that wassss dope.

  • Nice D.A.R.E shirt!!

  • nice tutorial man - check my beats made on the 1000 please!

  • a bit offtop: I can't seem to find a midi implementation chart for the mpc1000, can it be controlled with external midi controllers? I want to control the mpc mixer with a UC-33e midi controller.

  • What the hell am I doing wrong? I make a beat and then switch to drum 2 and play the sample I chopped but it cuts off my drums from the beat I made. I followed your instructions as far as changing poly to mono and off to 1. This is driving me nuts.

  • @3fingerjones you need to use more then one program.

  • @onelonedork, hey is there any way u can take off vocals from a sampled song to just get the music?

  • @3fingerjones in the top of your program screen select the play field and make that poly and set all your samples to mono ..

  • DUDE! Where did you get the picture in the back on the wall? My grandma had that same one since I can remember. I know this doesn't have anything to do with a MPC but I have never seen that anywhere but my grandmas. P.S. Your vids are a HUGE help to me. I appreciate it.

  • Hi. I've already created a song in my head out of your tutorial sample. Lets talk. We can be 3 lone dorks. Is that wierd?

  • Were you sittin' down Indian style? LOL! Nice tutorial, though.

  • Nice job explaining this, I'm looking into buying one of these units but haven't decided which one, but this has me convinced the 1000 would work for me. Where did you get those drum samples from? Are they part of the samples in the MPC or did you have to get them from another source?

  • Man, i had all these questions in my head about the 1000. Wasn't really sure about buying it. You answered all those questions, and i am going to buy it. Btw niiice vid

  • I recently bought a MPC 1000 and I have problems chopping!

I'm using the Akai OS and when I try to chop for example 100,000-300,000 or to extract a new sample of it, it makes error of "Insufficient Memory". I have installed a 128 mb RAm (not the akai one), but it gives me that error.

I am wondering if it's because the track wich a want to sample is 55 mb, but I dont know

    Can you help me? Thanks!

  • Nice dude

  • THATS KIND OF FAST I CHOP IN NUMBERS ON MPC500 IM FAST CHOPS ON POINT, TOO BUT THE 1000 , I FEEL I NEED ONE CUZ WANT TO MAKE PACTHPHASES

  • Completely helpful and simple to understand guide. Thanks dude!!

  • I love the quick responses to when you touch the buttons. I had a korg triton and when I tried to mute sounds they wouldn't respond right when I wanted them to, thus making my recording sound off. I think I'm gonna try to get me one of these!

  • Do you get samples from instrumentals?

  • @KMan2676 Sure do.

  • @onelonedork how do you get samples from musik you have on your mac or pc into the mpc

  • Hey! Really appreciate your tutorials! But I have a question according to the metronome... I can't seem to hear the metronome? how should I set it? Just bought the mpc 1000 so I'm really new to this...

  • @YoungReaz Try changing the sample used for the metronome. I like to use a closed hi hat, and some people prefer to use a loud kick.

  • what do you think of the Macshine?

or even a roland fantom x6 which even has pads?

  • This is a fantastic video. It's very hard to gain satisfactory insight into the workflow of the MPC-1000 on YouTube, but this video is more than satisfactory and makes for a great watch with a snack in the afternoon. Great work!

  • Would you recommend this over the PMC 2000xl? I am coming from DAW world, Albeton live and such and I want to use an MPC to give me that classic grit

  • @BlackJag92 Purists will tell you that your nothing unless you use a MPC 2000. Others will tell you that MPC’s are a “waste of time, use a computer”. It really depends on your personal preference. The 2000 is more limiting but sometimes that makes you more creative, the 1000 has more options and features (with JJ OS) but lacks the “style” of the older MPC. Some even say that the 2000 sounds different, but I’ve never been able to tell the difference.

  • @onelonedork thanks alot man! something else I wanted to ask you, can I transfer samples to my MPC via the computer, like a USB cable? or is it like its predecessors, where you have to use Vinyl ? If so are there any special interfaces or cables I need for this model? Hope I'm not bugging you with all the questions

  • @BlackJag92 Yes you'll need a USB cable to transfer samples, or a compact flash card and reader. Make sure the files are in .wav format, the mpc wont work with .mp3 files.

  • so the MPC can record audio input while playing back an internal sequence? If so, does it record the input (in this case your guitar) to the sample memory?

  • @bergweg Yes and yes. If you have JJ OS there is a nice audio track option that records like a multi track recorder. If not you can press play and record your part in the recording section then slice it up. The only down side is the amount of sample memory. Often if i want to record more then 8 tracks of audio I sync via midi to a multi track recorder or mix the sequences down into audio tracks and move them to another device. Often the MPC is were I start a project, not were i finish it.

  • @onelonedork nice! I'm thinking of getting a used MPC1000 and the JJ OS1, costs I think 59 bucks. Now I have another question: You can record a section in loop mode when using midi, but how about doing that with audio, would the audio track allow something like that (or maybe use punch in/out)? I'd like to have the functionality of a Boss RC-50 looper. Thanks for your help!

  • @onelonedork is the JJ os better than the akai

  • Works it also on the mpc 500?

  • wow, this is so cool....

  • your ufckin dope thats the type of sound im aiming for good tutorial

  • how does it work? did u sample each sound and assigned it to each pad, or did u choose 1 sound, and the mpc itself made it sound with different pitches?

  • @Beatz4liffe for which part?

  • @onelonedork any part, like, do u assign a sound to each pad or what? and like, can u choose sound for all the pads, like the same exact sound, but have it at different pitches?

  • Dude thanks for this video. I don't have an MPC yet (but do have an MPK49) but am considering buying it. I love how you used acoustic guitar as that's exactly how I envision using it. You don't see too many people using real instruments with their MPC on youtube.

  • hey yo

just thot id drop you a message and let you know about new sound era , we promoting that real hiphop and i thot you may be intrested, take a listen and if you like it , please sub and spread the word

  • is this machine really better than the mpc 2000XL?

So many people are using the mpc 2000XL it makes me wonder why.

  • @CEEPMDEE The mpc 1000 with JJ OS has a better feature set then the 2000xL, But many people enjoy the layout and feel of the 2000xl over the mpc 1000.

  • thanks man. im novice at the mpc game and i really appreciate the tutorials.

  • Thanks for this video... I've had my MPC for a while, and have been so intimidated by it that I barely use it. It's videos like this that really inspire me to sit down and figure it out. I've tried the MPC e-book, and I've been on the forums, but I'm not as advanced as almost everyone else on there... just don't seem to be "getting it".... hopefully by watching your vids I'll be able to put it to good use. Again, thanks!

  • do you have to have jjos to chop the sample up?

  • @OGtony88 No but If I remember right akai os doesn't have auto chop.

  • hey i was considering gettin a 1000 for xmas i jus had some questions ... 1. after u make a beat does it all save in the MPC and can u send it from that to ur computer or does it have a CD drive to burn from the MPC to a disc?....2. how much memory comes with it?

  • @Rezin603 You can out put your final mix to a wav file and put it on your computer. from the store new its comes with 16mb.

  • @onelonedork oh ok thanks for the info

  • @Rezin603 hay look into getting the native instruments MACHINE.. it is SICK!!

  • Hey, I don't own an MPC, but I'm considering buying one. If I were to buy, say, NI Battery, could I put samples from that onto the MPC? Or is there another software I should get for samples and etc? I'm finding it really difficult to decide between an MPC or an Elektron Machinedrum and just using the sounds on it (even though it's more expensive, I feel I'd spend more money on upgrades/software if I was getting an MPC). Ah! All so difficult! Sorry this is so mixed up.

    Any help appreciated.

  • Does the blue mpc 1000 have the slice feature? i cant seem to find it

  • @vSCREEMOv Its a JJ OS feature not a Akai Feature.

  • @vSCREEMOv i thought you should know that the color of the mpc does not make a difference with the software they are exactly the same just different colors (the black and blue)

  • @africanmaan Almost the same, the blue mpc has pad problems, the black mpc does not.

  • @africanmaan okay i guess that makes sense, so do i have to install the newest JJ OS version to get the other features?

  • @vSCREEMOv 4.99 has all the features used in the video.

  • @onelonedork which jjos do u have installed i have the free one and having trouble with choping on my mpc 1000 the 1 u have seems pretty cool and im ithinking of getting an better jjos which would you recommend for some one comming from 3.11 jjos the free one? thanks bro in advance.

  • If i switch to jj os will it make my manuel useless? I'm worried about getting lost and then not having the manuel to reference

  • @jeffreybiderpdee There is a manual for jj os.

  • Comment removed

  • @jeffreybiderpdee check mpc - forums dot com you are going to find LOTS of info and help there... also the manual for the JJOS is posted there

  • which JJ OS has the "combine" feature? Because mine doesn't and i really need that lol

  • @KillenEMsoftly 4.99 is what i was using in this video.

  • Thanks man, this is really helpful. This vid really helped me speed up my learning 'coz I was strugglin' bad! I'm a bit slow, umm, duh, umm... Thanks dude!

  • first i want to tell you how great your videos are. now to my question, I just put jjos on my mpc 1000. when i try to record the first track it seems to be all right but then when i go to the next track and try to layer over the last track , all my sounds run together. like the samples cut each other out. this has been really frustracting. i cant seem to move forward with my mpc prgress and am considering replacing the mpc 1000 if i cant figure tis out. i would rather not tho. please help.

  • @isaacpavlicek I've got a video on that. MPC 1000 for beginners Song mode and audio cut off problems (Tutorial)

  • Very insightful vids man! I've had a 1000 for 2 years with JJOS 1 and although I've gotten further with it than the Akai OS, I'm still not as comfortable with it as I wanted to be. You've really helped me understand and learn some great features. Also, I was wondering where the "dork" part in your name came from, but then I watched the Splash Screen video... Haha... Keep it up man!!

  • Nice!

  • anyone want to buy a mpc 1000 for 500 bucks everything works good just dot need it anymore hit me with message if interested

  • @KYSRECORDS yo think i got sum1 that might want to by it...where are u located?

  • 6:49 shoes finally come off..........HELL YEAH......ultra comfort mode engaged. good vid.

  • how do you make it so that some of the pads cut each other off but others dont. i want to be able to play drums while a sample is playing but if i set it all to mono the hi hat wont play at same time as kick drum.

  • did you record the guitar into ableton and then put the wav files on the mpc as samples? Thanks

  • @ChristopherPaulson No i recorded directly to the mpc.

  • what cables did you use to plug mix into mpc? thanks

  • @ChristopherPaulson 1/4 to XLR adapter, no mixer was used.

  • Shit, appropriately named...this thing costs 1,000 bucks. Looks like you can find it for less, but still.

  • Good vid...I saw at the 8:48 mark, you have it on song mode...Can u explain how song mode works...thanks!!

  • i used reasons as a sound mod igot the midi insrtument sequenced into my mpc. now how do i record the midi instrument into sound?

  • whats up i got an MPC 1000 for sale e-mail doperush@gmail if interested

  • this guy is dope

  • Thank you for sharing. I was wondering what OS are you using? I am using 2.13 and it looks different from yours.

  • @mothspyeros JJ OS 4.99

  • nice brotha

  • whats the remote 4?

  • @Zkrudriverz the Gray remote is to turn the camera on and off so i don't have to stand up.

  • how much r the Mpc 1000

  • @astro123ify For brand new its about $999. I got one from ebay for $475 used. It should be coming in on Tuesday. Hell muthafuckin yeah.

  • how come i can't save my programs onto my mpc1000 is it because i don't have

big enough harddrive it says this is ID of OS1 what that mean it also ask for a password.

  • @phetphai You have to pay for JJ OS 4.99 to save.

  • How match is this I need this shit dude : D

  • Nice work man! Did you record your own drums into it??

  • Can you sample mp3 files? Like say i wanted to sample al green from my mp3 files could I do it? If so it seems these samples are pretty short how do I make it short enough to load on to my MPC? How do I only sample certain sections of a song?

  • @jeffreybiderpdee Yes, Just get some audio editing software, and cut the samples out that you want to use.

  • @onelonedork Would that be expensive? What brand would you suggest?

  • @jeffreybiderpdee audacity is free and there are quit a few others that are only $30 to $100 dollars. I use Sound forge 10 which runs around $150 or so but you probably don't need something quit that advanced.

  • @onelonedork Thanks alot man ill check out audacity but is there some sort of limit on how long my samples should be?

  • @onelonedork or straight line record it into the mpc, that's generally what I do with the mpc, though I work on the 2500

  • check out my beats....14 beats in one video subscribe for more!!!

  • thanx great video !

  • You got me inspired.... One question: is the jjos third party and not from akai and where do I get it?

  • @noethew JJ OS is 3rd party, and just google JJ OS you'll find it.

  • yo, so i just ordered one of these this weekend. i'm just wondering if you had to buy jjos or is it a free download?

  • @teddygrambeatz 3.08 is free, 4.99 used in this video is not.

  • @onelonedork oh alright, thanks.

  • hmm..how come I don't have chop? I have slice

  • @37HYPERION probably because your not using jj os 4.99 as i am in the video.

  • good video dude eventho i dont own an mpc its good to know

  • may i ask what version of jjos you have? the layout looks different.

  • @SKULLxSNAPS JJ OS 1 4.99

  • thanks for your tutorial video... i never bothered to used the autochop feature till i saw that combine button.....makes it whole lot easier than doing it manually
