Hello , my name is Khiry Hines I am a young producer that's just going around on Youtube looking for wisdom and advice in becoming a great artist in music. Yo I got the passion for it , just need people to hear me out. Cause all I really want to is spread my music out to the people of the world. So if you or anyone have any wisdom for me hit me up on my channel.
Which JJ Os are you using ? And have u had any glitches or problems with it?? I still have my 1000.. I was forced to upgrade.. So I got the 5000.. Cause the encoder wheel went bad.U turn it up it would go back down and stay on what u have selected.I must of waited a year and a half before I couldn`t take it anymore..It just kept getting worse and worse.. And nobody had the replacement part.LOL Now they got it.. And I`m gonna replace it one of these days.I`m stuck on my 5000..
Hey I had a question for you well two to be exact? How can I make a complete song and whats the difference between "track" and "sequence"? Im a noob w/ a MPC 1000 and really want to learn please dont laugh at me!
a bit offtop: I can't seem to find a midi implementation chart for the mpc1000, can it be controlled with external midi controllers? I want to control the mpc mixer with a UC-33e midi controller.
What the hell am I doing wrong? I make a beat and then switch to drum 2 and play the sample I chopped but it cuts off my drums from the beat I made. I followed your instructions as far as changing poly to mono and off to 1. This is driving me nuts.
DUDE! Where did you get the picture in the back on the wall? My grandma had that same one since I can remember. I know this doesn't have anything to do with a MPC but I have never seen that anywhere but my grandmas. P.S. Your vids are a HUGE help to me. I appreciate it.
Nice job explaining this, I'm looking into buying one of these units but haven't decided which one, but this has me convinced the 1000 would work for me. Where did you get those drum samples from? Are they part of the samples in the MPC or did you have to get them from another source?
Man, i had all these questions in my head about the 1000. Wasn't really sure about buying it. You answered all those questions, and i am going to buy it. Btw niiice vid
I recently bought a MPC 1000 and I have problems chopping!
I'm using the Akai OS and when I try to chop for example 100,000-300,000 or to extract a new sample of it, it makes error of "Insufficient Memory". I have installed a 128 mb RAm (not the akai one), but it gives me that error.
I am wondering if it's because the track wich a want to sample is 55 mb, but I dont know
I love the quick responses to when you touch the buttons. I had a korg triton and when I tried to mute sounds they wouldn't respond right when I wanted them to, thus making my recording sound off. I think I'm gonna try to get me one of these!
Hey! Really appreciate your tutorials! But I have a question according to the metronome... I can't seem to hear the metronome? how should I set it? Just bought the mpc 1000 so I'm really new to this...
This is a fantastic video. It's very hard to gain satisfactory insight into the workflow of the MPC-1000 on YouTube, but this video is more than satisfactory and makes for a great watch with a snack in the afternoon. Great work!
@BlackJag92 Purists will tell you that your nothing unless you use a MPC 2000. Others will tell you that MPC’s are a “waste of time, use a computer”. It really depends on your personal preference. The 2000 is more limiting but sometimes that makes you more creative, the 1000 has more options and features (with JJ OS) but lacks the “style” of the older MPC. Some even say that the 2000 sounds different, but I’ve never been able to tell the difference.
@onelonedork thanks alot man! something else I wanted to ask you, can I transfer samples to my MPC via the computer, like a USB cable? or is it like its predecessors, where you have to use Vinyl ? If so are there any special interfaces or cables I need for this model? Hope I'm not bugging you with all the questions
@BlackJag92 Yes you'll need a USB cable to transfer samples, or a compact flash card and reader. Make sure the files are in .wav format, the mpc wont work with .mp3 files.
so the MPC can record audio input while playing back an internal sequence? If so, does it record the input (in this case your guitar) to the sample memory?
@bergweg Yes and yes. If you have JJ OS there is a nice audio track option that records like a multi track recorder. If not you can press play and record your part in the recording section then slice it up. The only down side is the amount of sample memory. Often if i want to record more then 8 tracks of audio I sync via midi to a multi track recorder or mix the sequences down into audio tracks and move them to another device. Often the MPC is were I start a project, not were i finish it.
@onelonedork nice! I'm thinking of getting a used MPC1000 and the JJ OS1, costs I think 59 bucks. Now I have another question: You can record a section in loop mode when using midi, but how about doing that with audio, would the audio track allow something like that (or maybe use punch in/out)? I'd like to have the functionality of a Boss RC-50 looper. Thanks for your help!
how does it work? did u sample each sound and assigned it to each pad, or did u choose 1 sound, and the mpc itself made it sound with different pitches?
@onelonedork any part, like, do u assign a sound to each pad or what? and like, can u choose sound for all the pads, like the same exact sound, but have it at different pitches?
Dude thanks for this video. I don't have an MPC yet (but do have an MPK49) but am considering buying it. I love how you used acoustic guitar as that's exactly how I envision using it. You don't see too many people using real instruments with their MPC on youtube.

@CEEPMDEE The mpc 1000 with JJ OS has a better feature set then the 2000xL, But many people enjoy the layout and feel of the 2000xl over the mpc 1000.
Thanks for this video... I've had my MPC for a while, and have been so intimidated by it that I barely use it. It's videos like this that really inspire me to sit down and figure it out. I've tried the MPC e-book, and I've been on the forums, but I'm not as advanced as almost everyone else on there... just don't seem to be "getting it".... hopefully by watching your vids I'll be able to put it to good use. Again, thanks!
hey i was considering gettin a 1000 for xmas i jus had some questions ... 1. after u make a beat does it all save in the MPC and can u send it from that to ur computer or does it have a CD drive to burn from the MPC to a disc?....2. how much memory comes with it?
Hey, I don't own an MPC, but I'm considering buying one. If I were to buy, say, NI Battery, could I put samples from that onto the MPC? Or is there another software I should get for samples and etc? I'm finding it really difficult to decide between an MPC or an Elektron Machinedrum and just using the sounds on it (even though it's more expensive, I feel I'd spend more money on upgrades/software if I was getting an MPC). Ah! All so difficult! Sorry this is so mixed up.
@vSCREEMOv i thought you should know that the color of the mpc does not make a difference with the software they are exactly the same just different colors (the black and blue)
@onelonedork which jjos do u have installed i have the free one and having trouble with choping on my mpc 1000 the 1 u have seems pretty cool and im ithinking of getting an better jjos which would you recommend for some one comming from 3.11 jjos the free one? thanks bro in advance.
Thanks man, this is really helpful. This vid really helped me speed up my learning 'coz I was strugglin' bad! I'm a bit slow, umm, duh, umm... Thanks dude!
first i want to tell you how great your videos are. now to my question, I just put jjos on my mpc 1000. when i try to record the first track it seems to be all right but then when i go to the next track and try to layer over the last track , all my sounds run together. like the samples cut each other out. this has been really frustracting. i cant seem to move forward with my mpc prgress and am considering replacing the mpc 1000 if i cant figure tis out. i would rather not tho. please help.

Very insightful vids man! I've had a 1000 for 2 years with JJOS 1 and although I've gotten further with it than the Akai OS, I'm still not as comfortable with it as I wanted to be. You've really helped me understand and learn some great features. Also, I was wondering where the "dork" part in your name came from, but then I watched the Splash Screen video... Haha... Keep it up man!!
How do I adjust the start and end times of each REGION or SLICE with the Q link Sliders? ? Holding the "After" button while moving the slider didnt do anything and thats the only answer I could find anywhere! Takes SOOO long using the DATA wheel.
how do you make it so that some of the pads cut each other off but others dont. i want to be able to play drums while a sample is playing but if i set it all to mono the hi hat wont play at same time as kick drum.
Can you sample mp3 files? Like say i wanted to sample al green from my mp3 files could I do it? If so it seems these samples are pretty short how do I make it short enough to load on to my MPC? How do I only sample certain sections of a song?
@jeffreybiderpdee audacity is free and there are quit a few others that are only $30 to $100 dollars. I use Sound forge 10 which runs around $150 or so but you probably don't need something quit that advanced.
thanks for your tutorial video... i never bothered to used the autochop feature till i saw that combine button.....makes it whole lot easier than doing it manually

How do I only sample certain sections of a song?
jeffreybiderpdee 1 year ago
@jeffreybiderpdee Yes, Just get some audio editing software, and cut the samples out that you want to use.
onelonedork 1 year ago
@onelonedork Would that be expensive? What brand would you suggest?
jeffreybiderpdee 1 year ago
@jeffreybiderpdee audacity is free and there are quit a few others that are only $30 to $100 dollars. I use Sound forge 10 which runs around $150 or so but you probably don't need something quit that advanced.
onelonedork 1 year ago
@onelonedork Thanks alot man ill check out audacity but is there some sort of limit on how long my samples should be?
jeffreybiderpdee 1 year ago
@onelonedork or straight line record it into the mpc, that's generally what I do with the mpc, though I work on the 2500
