1974 sure was a different era... they actually showed an (adult-voiced) unstable male with no pants on hanging around two children. I wonder how many parents were appalled by this subtly pedophilic commercial (complete with a bondage reference when those kids chained Sonny into a telephone booth...)

Back in the day, Sonny the coo-coo bird was a character many could identify with,an animated free spirit sort who was very frenetic, and hopelessly addicted to Cocoa Puffs, but loveable!

Now his schtick is predictable, dull and boring, thanks to the ad men!
