@mathcorekid the music adtr plays is actually the kind of 'punk rock' (often referred to as punk rawk) that has been commercially succesful since (I guess) mid to late 90's, made popular by tony hawk's video games, some US tours and other stuff such as trend clothing stores... my point here is it is not hardcore, and it not being hardcore doesn't make it good or bad, it's just different, they may incorporate punk hardcore sounds into their style but they are still pop rock

Most street punk sounds like absolute shit. No depth, little to no distortion, shallow bass lines, generic drumming and endless posing with ridiculous hair and clothes with more patches than original fabric.
How many sceamo shows have you been to? I'm guessing very few if anything. Screamo is by far the most passionate from of music out there. The bands involved in it pure their all into every song.

Career Soldiers were decent, the rest did nothing for me. CS were the only band out of those that surprised me... the rest sounded like typical street punk. Although CS (at least the song I checked out) really gave off a Yaphet Kotto, and An Arrow In Flight vibe mixed in with the obvious hardcore punk sound.

All screamo is, is an off shoot of Emotive Hardcore (emo) which is played faster with screaming in place of the traditional yells / spoken word vocals that are common place in emo.

@mathcorekid the music adtr plays is actually the kind of 'punk rock' (often referred to as punk rawk) that has been commercially succesful since (I guess) mid to late 90's, made popular by tony hawk's video games, some US tours and other stuff such as trend clothing stores... my point here is it is not hardcore, and it not being hardcore doesn't make it good or bad, it's just different, they may incorporate punk hardcore sounds into their style but they are still pop rock

Career Soldiers were decent, the rest did nothing for me. CS were the only band out of those that surprised me... the rest sounded like typical street punk. Although CS (at least the song I checked out) really gave off a Yaphet Kotto, and An Arrow In Flight vibe mixed in with the obvious hardcore punk sound.

All screamo is, is an off shoot of Emotive Hardcore (emo) which is played faster with screaming in place of the traditional yells / spoken word vocals that are common place in emo.
This really isn't hard dude... do some fucking research, it only takes a couple of minutes.

Alexisonfire had never had shows that looked like that back then, they used to be small too. Same thing with all the original Post Hardcore bands like Saosin. But that scene stuff came when like I guess some band who made it popular. I mean Dance Gavin Dance and all are good music. Just gotta find the bands that have actually moved on to better bands. Like Circa Survive, Emarosa, etc etc.

The small, more intimate setting was used by @thatguyonstage to illustrate that screamo is not a huge corporate thing like such genres as post-hardcore are becoming.
