@ChaosBurnsWithin Broderick's is a pretty straight forward arpeggio progression in Em, while Doug modulates through different modes throughout the speed picked part of the lick. I find that to be pretty impressive. If you're talking about their technique, well good technique can be obtained pretty quickly with consistent practice.

@qwertyuiop46853 hahaha. ur funny. cuz ive been trying to learn sweep picking for like 2 years now with consistant every day practice and i still cant. and broderick invented that technique, hes the only one who thought about applying his knowlage of chords and theory to tapping and tap it out instead of sweeping it. while doug's is pretty much pentatonics. both are amazing players, and both have their own unique style. major respect to both

@ChaosBurnsWithin Have you been practicing the right way? One thing I did to make my sweep picking practice more effective was to isolate each hand first, and then after practicing that for a while use both hands. To isolate the fretting hand, simply place your picking hand on the top of the fretboard to mute all the strings; to isolate the picking hand, simply mute all the strings with your fretting hand and practice the sweeping motion. One more thing, Broderick did not invent that technique.

@qwertyuiop46853 yeah ive done that. and broderick was the first ive seen use that technique, and he composes pieces that use the weirdest chords that no one would ever think of to put in a solo lol. its pretty neat stuff. and yeah i can sweep by muting the strings with my right hand above my left and i practice the right handed motion as well. but i cant put it together

Let's not judge too much on tone off of what comes out of YT videos. Think about it . Way too many variables involved. Having said that, Doug's tone these days is a pretty classic LP straight to Marshall sound. Very vintage, like it or not.

@RockIsKingYKI: he's using a majic box rocket fuel. That's how it's spelled. It's supposedly an overdrive pedal that includes a boost, and Doug engages both the overdrive and boost channels to get that tone

Agree completely. I've gotten to love Whitesnake, particularly Doug - he's the real thing - a nice guy and great player. Slash is poser. Doug's a cool dude. I've played guitar for 20 years so I know a little. Check out their renditions of Burn/Stormbringer - brilliant

Thanks Doug..lol, for making us all feel like beginners!. Doug is so damn humble, did you guys notice he admits to using his second finger to help bend? How many stuck up guitarist's(ie.Stevie Vai) would even show that?. I went through dozens of great guitarists since Hendrix..but Doug's style is one i'm practicing around, as it's clean while heavy, and his technique is pure. He reminds me of a modern day Rhandy R. and the guy is so damn humble as well.Ozzy could use him, as it would be classic.

Listen to Rocket Queen Live At Tokyo '92, I think it proofes that GnR were genius. Guns N' Roses is pure Rock N' Roll, Whitesnake is... Something else. But we GnR fans love hard-bluesy Rock N' Roll.

Maybe you just have no feeling for that kind of music. For me it's everything, and I chose that band out of 1XX cause it's exactly what I love.
