No, it's not an iPod. They didn't have them in 1984, and it does say it's 1984. It wouldn't be a nano anyway; it's closer to the original iPod - only I don't see the wheel. My guess is that it's a mockup device, and symbolizes that she listens to her own soundtrack, not the party line. At normal speed, it goes by too fast to even notice (I saw the original commercial). Good eyes, though; I never noticed.
