  • Trevor Phillips hosted BOTH 'Skin' and 'Black on Black' (hence the confusion). I think the clip is in Noriek but the last time I was there was 1979/80 so I can't quite remember. The clip apparently comes from the programme SKIN, first aired in the late 70's on ITV. I'm using my 'links' to get a copy for Youtubers! Stay tuned!!

  • does anyone know what song this is?

  • sure do its SLAVE DRIVER by DENNIS BROWN . shaka is playing the version called DUB DRIVER on the flip . it had a uk release on laser records 1979. it turns up on ebay from time to time for about a tenner, it might be on a dennis comp cd ..look for laser though cos theres thousands of dennis brown comps. also bob marley wrote the lyrics ..hope this helps ya out

  • awesome, thanks!

  • "Dub Driver" is only available on the 12 inch, which is hard to find. But the version Shaka is playing here is widely available on CD. The track is called "Shaka The Warrior", and the album is "House of Deb" by The Deb Players (great album! all in this style).

I think the vocal cut "Slave Driver" is also not hard to find.

  • @dubitnattyroots I got a 1999 repress of Slave Driver on 7" (Emmanuel Music) which contains a very similar sounding version of that tune on the flip side.

  • @dubitnattyroots

It's been re-issued on 7" in the last few years - both vocal & dub
