  • Trent Reznor is amazing and so is this video

  • I'd been listening to NIN for about 4 years before I'd actually seen this video at a nightclub. Trent, your artistry has always rocked my world, and this was the song that started it all. Hell yeah!

  • What a strange and crazy video. Yup, can't go wrong with classic NIN...

  • 20 years ago. The most ahead of its time album i ever got in my whole life. Thinking back to those days i'm still totally amazed... :D

  • Damn hard to believe that was almost 20 years ago. Seems like yesterday, smoked alot of weed listining to this.

  • for its time i bet u dis vid is hella tripy.. i watched this vid like 80 times in a row once

  • how old is trent in this video [somone tell me]

  • he was 25

  • Ithink his hair looks beast in this video

  • I love this band.

  • Religion does more killings, wars, and famine than any thing else. OAN: KIck ass Trent!

  • sadly maybe so. Depressing as you are Smellbox no wonder our president is damming us to hell-- people like you allow him to.

  • no i dont, i just dont care

  • id give anything for the music scene to go back to these days

  • I wonder how Trent feels about his ridiculous hair cut nowadays.

  • hasnt he basiclly disowned the way he looked before The Fragile?

  • Perhaps he doesn't give a shit, why would he? Why would he want to fall in line with every other dumb ass?

  • Maybe try and spell correctly before you make an insult.. Trust me, it makes you look like less of a faggot.

  • Fuck religion

  • Screw religious intolerance.

  • Dude, shut up. No one needs your religous bullshit.

  • 1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

  • fuck off click4nat

  • Fuck your religion-this is mine!

  • for real man no one gives a fuck

  • Convey your message to someone who gives a shit. Religion is for the weak.

  • Tell your Mom to try & abstain from this dick.

  • @gergio123 -- absolutely. I jumped and shouted the entire time I saw them, and that was pretty late in the game -- it was still one of the best things I've ever done.

  • At least I got to see them twice before NIN finished touring.

  • Best band ive ever seen live hands down!

  • Best band you'll ever hear. Ever.

  • 120 Minutes on MTV once showed the very rare extended version of this video aka the Flood Mix. I have yet to see it posted on here.

  • this music video makes my eyes hurt

  • Head like a hole.

    Black as your soul.

Id rather die than give you control.

    Head like a hole.

    Black as your soul.

Id rather die than give you control.

    [best part of the song:D]

  • I have to say that this was completely unlike how I thought it was going to be, however, it definetely breaks from the 80's era into the 90's in an astonisching way indeedoo!!!!

  • god money

  • Bummer trent aint going to tour anymore.... just glad i managed to see them in edinburgh in 2008 long live NIN!!

  • Haha I have the same haircut as Chris in this video! Ah dammit why can't the old days come back, I love this album so so much...

  • did anyone else see what i saw at 3:39 to 3:41? was that guy dancing away? seemed like it to me...

  • yep that's martin atkins, their old drummer and he also drummed for killing joke, P.I.L., ministry, murder inc., pigface, the damage manual. etc.

he's a legend and an amazinggly inovative drummer.

  • Sucks how NIN is nearing its end... I'll dearly miss these awesome videos.

  • It's not nearing it's end. Trent Reznor is NIN . He and therefor, it, is taking a break. The touring is over, well at least for a couple of years, but not the band itself. At least I fucking hope not.

  • this video is well triippy D:

  • at the time it was the end of the rave scene so that would of been an influence on this song we used to listern to nin and take lsd and speed mixture it went well with the music

  • arizona ph,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1991,,,,,,

  • faggot ass AFI lover

  • and we just stated ours, bitch

  • ahhh they dont make em like they used to. I'll second the soul/sonisphere swap though, anytime!!

  • Anyone wanna buy a soul? All it will cost you is 2 tickets to the Sonisphere festival. After seeing the Manchester gig I reckon getting to see Trents last ever European performance is well worth the price :(

  • european u mean last ever alltogether

  • OMG it might have actually worked.... a friend just won 2 tickets and can't go!!! Fuck it, its not like I was going to heaven anyway :)

  • The first time I saw this vid, I was like "Whoa, what was up with Trent's hair!" Ah, man. Eitehr way, it's an awesome vid.

  • <3 the intro

  • yes im finaly listening 2 th original iv only heard afis cover

  • i have never notices this before now, some idiots got his finger on the the camera lense

  • you're a moron... as if it's not intentional... dickhead

  • NIN been rockin my world for decades !!

Cant wait to see them again on Wednesday !!! Trent is and always will be a genius !!!!

  • Best Song Ever...... God I remember this on MTV forever ago.... like when it was new. Yes, I am old.

  • Back when MTV played music that was actually good.

  • ya when they played good music on there

  • This is Trent's best song IMO. I'm not sure if I prefer this or the live version on the AATCHB album but both are fantastic.

  • Live is always better if you're there. This song rocked the entire Heineken Music Hall (Amsterdam)!

  • agreed

  • Going to see these in Manchester in a fortnight. Looking forward to it!

  • me to! :)

  • I'll be there to! :D

  • I'm still figuring out where the best place to park is, the road system round the arena looks like a nightmare!

  • I think what we're doing is having my mates girlfriend drop us off and then we'll make our own way there by foot.

  • Well I'm driving up from Lincolnshire so drop off isn;t an option. If all else fails I'll park at the Arndale centre!

  • The art of making a video, he was way ahead of his time. Great Video! Great song! he has paved the way for a lot of great artist. Of course it's nice to have the EYE CANDY

  • love it !

  • ALL HAIL EPILEPSY

  • I feel like i am watching japanese programming.

  • 27 days until they step out at T in the Park! Epic!

  • I fucking love this song, and the video is AWESOME. Thanks for posting!

  • ooooo

  • All I can say is Prayer of the roller boys!

If your a real NIN fan you will know what that means

  • that movie is crazy :D

  • wtf are you talking about? wtf does that movie have to do with nin? idiot.

  • i miss the good old days when NIN had the revolutionary spirit.......where is it now that we need activists more than ever? its sad to see another free thinking radical voice dulled down to apparant apathy.... another casualty of capitalism......i guess that's how it goes these days...............................................

come back to us trent :)

  • Year Zero....

  • I was about to say...

  • Yeah, Trent was at his awesomest back then. But even if I liked the old material better, he's one of the individuals that are still making good music, unlike other bands like Fall Out Boy or Linkin Park.

  • Yeah...most of the newer nine inch nails songs are just as much of a social/political comment as this is. In fact the rest of Pretty Hate Machine had a lot more about romance than any other album...

  • Trent apathetic? You're kidding surely??

  • The drummer looks like Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols.

  • Dude he looks badass. kinda like one of those guys off Mad Max 2

  • nono you got it mixed up... those guys off mad max are like trent... xD

  • despite the seizure inducing strobe effects, this song and video are a masterpiece.

  • great video but beginning is hard to watch

  • suck n fuck.

  • cluck n duck.

  • No he was right up there.. suck n fuck.

  • awesome idea to like use cassette tape shit all ove in like the early 1990s iwhen CDs were pretty much just comming out. Reznor is just a genius

  • Definitely is

  • First song I heard from Trent. Always will be my favorite.

  • Trent got tangled up in that crap all over the floor

  • best NIN SONG i think coz of its awsome drums

  • first nin song I heard, still love it. the copper mix is my fave, not that any who read this care.wr

  • Opal mix?

  • I still LOVE this song!!! Perfect for my goth self back in the 90's but still influential to my life.

  • Martin Atkins!!!!!!!!!

  • i hope they play this live, when i'll see them at the O2!

  • They played it live last time I went to the Lights in the sky tour. Its awesome.

  • they always play this song. its usually the set list ender

  • i would also rather die than give god money control.

  • This song is so awesome. In some lyrics it's as if some whore came up to you and saw you holding cash. She (I'm not a sexist, if you want, it can be a man) instantly realizes she needs it. Even a whore has a slave greater than life itself. Money. Then again we all need money, but if you will do anything, you have an empty head. I've got time to kill, so I can write whatever the fuck I want. COuld be wrong about the money thing though. Oh well...NIN is the shit

  • :18 -:24 u can see a finger at the bottom right!

  • O_ª never noticed that!

  • fucking lol

  • This song was really impactful on me when I was 16.... Still goes though my head sometimes.... Excellence in Motion....

  • I think your spelling of the word definitely as "DEFINATLY" is pretty "drug influenced".

  • born. 1984.

    .

    .

    .

  • YOUR GOING TO GET WHAT YOU DESERVE

  • im not even epileptic but the rotating cyber head thing makes me want to have a seizure!

  • Still my fave NIN era after all these years. Fucking brilliant song and video. Truly one of a kind.

  • Dude, I love it, there's shit all over Chris Vrenna's drums and everyone looks all scummy. Richard Patrick & Trent Reznor obviously went to the same barber at this point.

  • absolute classic! love it!

  • Comment removed

  • I love how people get philosophical and start rambling on about whether the Grunge movement is dead or if NI nails are still relevant 19 years later blah blah.

    It's a good song. Period.

  • Yes.... I agree!

  • 19 years later, this still sounds pretty damm good to me!

  • @Turnitupdude - Damn straight.

  • love this song! one of his best by far!

  • I'm not saying hes not the shit these days. I meant, like the shit with the popular audience.

You can't believe how many times I've worn a shirt w/ the NIN logo and have people ask me "What the fuck is NIN?"

That would never have happened back then. And with all due respect melonsraum I don't think Trent was truly was screwed drug-wise till the Fragile era.

All in all, I don't think anyone said it better than SlaveScreaming . . .

  • Fragile was DEFINATLY his most "drug influenced" album.... no doubt

  • But one of the best

  • Absolutely!!!! ;-)

Definitely one of my faves! It's also probably one of his darkest, if not the darkest album of his...

  • Whatever happened to the days, ya know, when Trent was like the shit...?

Where he was all over MTV, where like people were buying the Downward Spiral by the dozens every second.

Where's Smashing Pumpkins? Where's Soundgarden? Where's Nirvana? Where's NINE INCH NAILS?!

  • Matter of opinion. Which I respect. But I do really enjoy sober Trent.

  • James and D'Arcy decided to fuck off, then Billy and Jimmy made a few Zwan albums and decided to call themselves the Smashing Pumpkins.

When Kurt Cobain died, NIRVANA and grunge went out the window. Soundgarden too.

NIN is still very much around, and Trent is still in him prime, but he's passed the better part of it. There will never be another EP like Broken and there will never be another Pretty Hate Machine.

  • Grunge died when Layne Staley AND Kurt Cobain died. If one had stayed, grunge would still be very much alive.

  • harshlight7, I totally agree with you. That fuck face Bush is and always will be a tyrant. FUCK HIM AND ALL THE REST OF EM'

  • am I the only one who thinks the new album is brilliant!?

    LONG LIVE STROBE LIGHT!

too bad Dr. Dre aint doing anything like on Even Deeper

  • STROBE IS KING!

  • DAMN STRAIGHT

  • You rock.

  • lol this video is so 80s

  • yeah it is,HAHA

  • obama is the anti-christ

  • So amazing! He's such a wonderful artist...and so fucking hot! XD

    I LOVE YOU TRENT!

  • this video is a real head fuck, class though

  • Do you ever feel complete awe at Trents accomplishments? ITS JUST FUCKING AMAZING!!!!

  • I do, he is so inspiring, I've started learning, synth, keyboard, and bass ontop of guitar because of him, I hope to get a gig similar to this, LOVE IT!

  • strobelight is no joke, asshole

  • Underrated? lmao people have called him the most vital artist of modern day music and one of the must influential that has lived, DOwnward SPiral even made it on the top 300 albums of all time, i think thats not underrated.

  • a classic

    brilliant

  • strobelight is a masterpiece....

  • hope you are kidding strobelight was just a joke for apil´s fool

  • it was a prank xP

  • bow down before the one you serve. bow down the obama you derserve

  • You brain-dead cocksuckers bowed down before the Bush altar for 8 years because Big Daddy made you little children feel SAFE INSIDE. Yeah we got what we deserve: someone better than GWB. And you pricks can't stand it HA HA

  • I do love how I can watch this over and over and it dosen't get boring.

  • oo shiiiit!!!

  • Trent was the shit back then.

  • he still is

  • wtf r u talkin bout he still is!

but idk bout the new album strobe light

i havent listened to it yet but the cover trents wearing shutter shades(kanye west glasses)

so i hope its better than what the album cover is showing off

  • aint sure if ur kiddin or not man, but u do know the strobe light thing was an april fools, right?
