@Hmloki, The MP5 comes in more powerful calibers then 9mm, like 10mm and .40 S&W. A bullet can't knock a person down. If it could, then the shooter would be knocked down also. Simple physics. There are many different versions of the MP5 because they have been updated over time, and they make different models for different purposes.

Using super sonic ammunition in a silenced weapon is in a word STUPID, the crack of the bullet beaking the sound barrier would negate the silencer's use. The SD series has a more effective method of negating the sound of the gas discharge by integrating it with the barrel itself. Sub sonic ammo is the only ammo you could put through the gun if you wanted to remain silent. The silencer doesnt reduce bullet speed, the gasses at the end of the muzzle have no effect on bullet speed, just noise.

That's the difference between the MP5SD and other conventionally suppressed weapons. If you don't believe me head over to the HK website and read their description:

That only applies to certain suppressors. The one on the SD series is designed to drain the gas away from the bullet, cutting the velocity down to subsonic levels as well as quieting the muzzle report.

Having fired both the MP5, and the UMP, I find the UMP to be slightly more comfortable for me. I am not a big fan of the .45 ACP cartridge, though. I know they are made in other calibers, but I've only had experience with the UMP 45.

I'd REALLY like to try an MP5 in 10mm auto. That is a hell of a cartridge in a hell of a platform.
