Hey awesome video! Another way you could do it is just right click the clip with a black background that you wanna key out, go down to composite mode and click "screen". It works trust me. :D

Don't use the luma keyer. Change the composition mode to "Screen" if its a black BG and "Multiply" if its a white BG. This works much better than the Luma keyer :D

heres a better way to key out the black, click on the explosion clip, go up to your menu bar, go to Modify, then Composite Mode, then Screen. for white backgrounds do the same thing but instead of Screen, select Multiply. hope this helps

Hey dude here is a piece of advice that will make your adding special effects life so much easier: instead of messing around with the luma key and such or alpha key or chroma key, just right click on the special effect and go to Composite Mode> Screen. This is the way Detonation Films advises you to do it.

Easy; To trim (cut) a clip, select the blade tool at the right of your Final Cut window. Then, just move around to where you want the clip to end and click. Then, delete the other portion and you're done! For a more seamless look, be sure to fade the effect clip in and out. Have fun editing!
