  • Many thanks for your reply.I am taking 20 micrograms of liothyronine daily. I shall mention taking T4 to my surgeon at my post Op appointment.

May I also say to bheller 21, you may have found this presentation boring but it has been the most comprehensive information I have been given by any medic in the past 3 years.Keep on keeping on Dr Haskell. Thank you very much.

  • I found this very informative, thank you. I live in the UK and have recently had my thyroid removed and am awaiting radioactive iodine treatment. I am taking T3 medication but am experiencing symptoms that I had when my throid was over active ( hair loss, breathlessness, palpitations) why should this be happening?

  • @BabyB1956

Hi.... the first thought is that you are simply taking too much. T3 has a very short half life and in about 12 hours your second dose of T3 for the day should be taken. There is a bit of roller-coastering of blood concentrations of T3 through the day and thus of symptoms.

So take half in the am when rising and the other half around 4-5pm.

If you've had the thyroid removed then you should also be taking T4 or Synthroid or Levothyroxine. T4 is converted to T3 and evens things out.

  • Hi, i'm from Argentina and found very interesting the video. I'm about to start Synthroid due to a sub or mild hypothyroidism. I've been tested trough all labs, BUT TOTAL T3 (instead of FREE T3), Vitamin D and Estrogen. It's all good except for a 4.0 to 5.0 TSH with symptoms (normal T4L) I've done a TRH test where the post-TSH was an hiperreaction so that conclude the hypo. I don't want to be a slave of a pill every day of my life... i'm only 20 years old. Thanks for the info

  • Great information, but seriously you need to spice this up, your dealing with people with thyroid problems, meaning they are normally fatigued and tired and your lectures are so monotone, boring, they're probably falling asleep before they get past the first 30 seconds.C'mon Doc, If you really want to help people, please take the time to beef this presentation up! However,I commend you for your efforts.

  • This is life saving info, its a shame most people are so uninformed

  • Thank you for your comment... please help spread the word...
