  • Awesome, I have been playing for years and really still cant play you have been such a help. Do you have anything for the G and H block. I am musically challenged and your break downs help me overcome that one piece at a time.

    hakan

  • wow, thanks. i love this song

  • @theprisoner3 Hohner golden melody is what he is using and is what I use as well. E

  • Håkan the MAN!

  • just out of curiosity, what harmonica model are you using?my parents just bought me a Burswood, and i can see that it's practically a toy,and i'm thinking of buying a serious harmonica...probably a Lee Oskar or Hohner.

  • Very good but funny as hell!! "make sure you get rid of de air, HUHHH! HUHHHHH!" MAN I'M CRYING RIGHT NOW!!

  • @Sizzahandz

But it´s true! I wouldn't lie on the internet.

  • @HakanEhn i am a bignner harmonica player and i tried this song on harmonica of c key . but it didnt sounded so good. is the problem with bending or is the problem on my harmonica ? can u help me out .?

  • It´s OK man. This is a difficult song for a beginner. Just keep on playing. I hope my video will help you

  • great job! I'm trying my best to learn this, but having trouble bending the 3 draw, did you do anything to youre harp to make it bend like it does or do I need a lot more practice. Im using a Bushman Delta Frost Harmonica. Thanks again for the motivation.

  • Thanks. I didnt do anything to my harp.

    Hakan

  • @whistle3man Beginners have a hard time note bending, because the reeds in a new harp can be stiff, so they overcompensate by squeezing the note using the mouth , then the reed gets overdistorted and goes flat,Adam Gussow gives some great advice on how to relieve the stiff reeds safely without damaging them, then you'll find that a smoother note bend can be obtained using the throat rather than the mouth

  • thank you very much, youre a good teacher

  • Hej Håkan. Heter Pelle o bor i Blekinge.

DIY Harp Workshop 1 - Gapping

Adam Gussow har också en video som beskriver hur man justerar gapet, men jag kommer inte ihåg vad det heter.

  • Hi hakanehn, cool video, i can play in harmonica in the key of c? or sounds really different?

  • Thanks! I don´t know. Try and tell me if it worked

  • Hi again. Re. my query about getting rid of breath, I guess the trick is to play blow 3 instead of draw 2 after the 3 draw bend. Don't know if it will sound ok. What do you think?

  • The melody will be changed and not to the better

  • Hi Thanks for a great video and tab. Perhaps a naieve question but how do you get rid of breath at the end of Section A.2? It sounds and looks as though you go straight through to blow 1-4 at the end of A.3. I don't know if this is possible! My lings are full by the end of A.2 but perhaps that's just my inexperience and, also, I'm not playing up to tempo. I'd be grateful for advice.

  • Hi and thanks for your comments. If you play the tempo in the video it should be ok, i just tried. If you play much slower that can cause you trouble. Maybe you can take some extra air between draw 2 and draw 3 bend in A.2.

  • Just a quick question do you bend up to the 2 draw in the first segment (second note in the tabs) and do you bend down from the 2 draw in segment two (third and forth notes) or are they articulated as separate notes as in the video. When you play it it sounds like you are bending down or up to the note as appose to playing every note separately.

  • First segment:

I had to listen what i did and i don´t bend. It´s a separated note but it doesn´t sound very distinctive probably cause the note was produced back in my throat. I didn´t know what i was doing, i just played - what kind of teacher is that! Now when i tried, i think it is more cool to bend up to 2 draw instead of separate note.

    Segment two: i am bending.

    Thanks for your comments!!

  • Thanks for doing this man!!!! Fantastic!!!! I just watched Adam and Ben do this piece and you lay it down just as good bro but without the fancy foot work. Haha. I dig the tunnel vid!!! I have a favortite tunnel and parkhouse here in town too. Waiting to see and hear more.

  • I'm glad you liked it. Adam & Ben version is very cool and also several other versions but I haven´t seen a parkhouse version so far!

  • I will see what I can do - just give me a little time to nail this tune down. Very good instruction - good on ya.

  • thank you my brother for sharing this with us.

its this tune that made me want to take up the harmonica.

now i can learn it. many thanks.

  • Thank you!

Yes people seem to love this piece. When I heard it the first time, it was on a CD with Mark Feltham in Nine Below Zero and I thought this sounds so cool!!

  • Ratings disabled? *five-stars you anyway*

Good shit. Hohners make the best!

    *jams with you*

  • Great lesson. Well planned and first class demonstration, very easy to understand and learn from. Many thanks.

  • Takk for denne video Hakanen kjempe bra .

  • Excellent video- you have made me a very happy harp player! Thank you very much.

  • wow.. that harp sounds great.. is it custom??

Also.. you should add this video to my harmonica how to video group so the others in there can view it. If you go to my page, then the groups section.. you can join that group and add it! Please do,.. it is great!!!

  • It´s Hohner Golden Melody in A and I also like the rich sound of that harp. The tunnel also helps of course. I will check your page!

    Håkan

  • Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • Thank you so much for doing this. I really enjoy this song and had never heard it.

I will start working on it this weekend.

  • This is only one way of playing this. It doesn´t have to sound exactly like this, you decide how to play it. Good luck!

  • Hey Hakan I almost have this down. I just need to bring up to speed a little and get the timing better. I hope you teach the rest of the song, however I know this is time consuming and either way thank you so much for sharing this with us. I am addicted to the song and took your advise and listening to other versions. I like the tunnel one and the nine below zero versions. Hopefully I can find which CD it is on by them and buy the full version.

  • Hi i am addicted to that song too! Right now there are so many projects i would like to do so i don´t know where to start. Can´t promise right now i will make a video soon. But i can give a quick guide for the tunnel version, 0:46-1:07:

blow hole 3 and 6 (octave playing)

draw hole 1-2-3 (two times fast)

blow holw 2 and 5 (octave playing)

draw hole 1-2-3 (one time fast)

and then i alternate in which order and how many times i play them.

  • Thank you Hakan! I started working on this part last night. It is faster than I realized but I am stubborn.:) I will put it in the amazing slow downer and start working it out.

  • Yes I also use that slow down sometimes. It can be very hard to try to copy licks and tricks a guy maybe have practiced for many years. So stubborness is probably a very good thing to have!
