Who is crying and sniveling over the dying children in Africa with NO HOMES? you know in real life where REAL people are dying. That is why this will not get any awards (I hope so anyway)
This film caters for the tear jerking women who love the Idea of the Independent White women helping the helpless black kid. 1000 children died in the time it took you to watch that film, but I guess you would not be as comfortable in your seats to cry over that tragedy. HYPOCRITES!
The movie was great. I'm glad you all liked it. I understand how everyone will question the motives of the Touhy's. It's too bad that altruism in this day-and-age is held with such skepticism. Anyways, I loved this movie and hope Bullock is up for some Oscar gold in February.
I'm contemplating whether to see it or not. It really looks cheesy. The part where she walks up to "thug" guys questioning the whereabouts of Oher's character is lame. Those guys would not have sat there and took it. Plus the whole poor black kid making it big is so cliche. Plus staring at Tim McGraw's wig for two hours is lame. I saw The Road and Twilight this weekend and thought both of them were pretty good. The Road being nthe better picture. I wouldn't even waste my money to go see Old Dogs
Agree! The movie was more "quiet" than I expected, or is restrained the better wording? By the end there were more than a few folks in the audience sniffling. Truth is often stranger than fiction (because in fiction things has to make sense) so cynics will still question the parent's motives. The real Michael said sometimes he wished the book was never written because the same cynics will judge his family, but I believe in time he will be glad how his story inspires so many.
