what to know the best way to protect yourself ?

vote to stop immigrants coming in the country because last week i caught 2 polish blokes ripping our garbage bags apart in broad daylight obviously looking for whatever forms of letters / id they could lay their hands on

this is a fact

btw, this card is a fucking waste of our money and time

I just don't get the point of having this card. Before entering to the UK, I had to apply for the visa, which contains all of my biometric data. Thus, they are the same thing, aren't they?

Yes they are the same thing and part of the overall agenda, these things are done incrementally as not to shock the public.
