  • Anyone know where this happened in Catonsville?

  • hello i am an 8th grader and am doing a oral history project can anyone give me contact information 2 any of the living catonsville 9

  • @thebluefish177 I doubt anyone knows, I would ask someone you know who would remember seeing this in the news.

  • People do both. Ask any Orthodox jewish rabbi today. Both Orthodox Christianity and Orthodox judaism has (or had) Holy tradition as part of it. To destroy our tradition is to destroy our culture and destroy our identity as a people. Social justice is good, but destroying music which reflects social justice is wrong Traditional plainchant, gregorian, byzantine, etc, this is the only music today that contains the antiphons, responsories, kontakion about the lives of our martyrs, saints and heroes

  • If the Catholic left had not ruined the traditions of liturgical chant, I would probably respect the video tremendously. As it is, I have a certain admirationt, but am a bit suspicious. The power of prayer is beyond this sort of action ultimately...

In fact a hands on approach can be as much a sign as lack of faith .as full of it. Holy spirit or demonic spirit..you decide.

  • @LiturgicalChants So what you're saying is, all Jesus did was prayed and chanted?

  • Inspirational to all young dissenters.

  • people should learn from this

  • have a final on this tomorrow!

  • I saw the play The Trial of the Catonsville 9 March 15, 2009 in Los Angeles. It is a shortened version of the court transcript.Father Dan Berrigan was a poet but I did not realize how eloquently he could speak. It would have been worth it just to hear him speak. The discussion afterward had Father blasé Bonpane, recently expelled by the CIA from Guatamala took part. Berrigan asked him to join them, He had speaking engagements and he could accomplish more speaking about his experiences.

  • My Name is Chris Farlekas and I was the Photographer in this Video. It was a moment in time that has influenced my life for the last 40 years. I look back upon this day with great honor.

  • @rebelrider2330 Thank you so much for allowing us to be a witness to this!

  • Father Daniel and Philip Berrigan were the real deal as far as the Catholic left goes. Americans need to wake up, grow some balls, and start doing things like this again under the watchful eye of the Holy Spirit.

  • This Catonsvile Nine civil disobedience was very inspiring for us in Sweden both during the Vietnam war but also some years later in our nonviolent civil disobedience against nuclear weapons. Without the priests in the movie, Dan & Phil Berrigan, we would have been much more obedient.

Per from Sweden (who 1984-85 spent a year in Danbury FCI, where Phil & Dan were held, for my plowshares disarmament of Pershing II rockets.)

  • If you really listen to the story of the Catonsville nine you will see that what they did nearly 40 years ago is still relevent as to what is going on today.

No one back then thought that what they did that day in 1968 would still be talked about today.

Listen to what the NINE had to say about Vietnam and Guatemala.

Once you open your eyes and mind you will understand that what you see around you is what you want to see, not what is really going on.

  • I heard Tom Lewis speak Friday in Northampton, Mass....these are the truly patriotic American, who are willing to sacrifice their personal comforts and freedom (these men and women spent 2-3 years in jail for this act) for the greater good and for peace...thank you for posting this video....

Don't They Know War is Over?

  • Myself...being anti-war, and from Catonsville...love this movie.

And of course the real events were super ballsy.

...I'm all for the troops who are brave enough to fight. I'm just not the violent person.

  • resistance takes more guts

  • I'm a veteran, and it was while training for war that I became emotionally, spiritually and physically against violence. Go figure.
