I've read that this was one-helluva-session. My favorite is Brian's sitar & tamboura work. A rare moment of clarity for him. Love the buzz saw sound as it fades out with the cut.
50 years ago I was being given detentions at school for singing this and other stones songs with ruler on desk accompaniments - and it still is bloody good today .
Of all the mixes and vocal variations of this tune, this is what I prefer. (And my copy with this mix, is a pressing by Columbia Records' Santa Maria, CA plant, with label copy type from Pitman, NJ.)
great one here.the reason the song made it only to#48pop in 1968,was many radio stations didn't want to play it,feared it might cause problems(with all the riots going on at that time). if anyone got the picture sleeve to this hold on and be careful with it,it is very valuable.
What is amazing about this version and the original Jumpin Jack Flash is that the only electric instrument is the bass. Keith recorded the guitar riffs with a cheap tape recorder that he overloaded and over dubbed with many guitar tracks. Charlie played drums on a cheap 1930s travel set. Amazing what true musicians can do with junk.
@fourbluz Did you know that when the Stones Got done recording "whats my name" a song of course about the devil, their studio burned down in a mysterious fire.. weird huh.
This has got to be the original. The power and excitment is all there considering the student uprising across Europe at that time with Daniel (the MP of current times) leading the crusade. Wow!!
just uploaded get off of my cloud mono single, it's from the original vinyl Singles Collection, so i used sony soundforge to normalize it, which just maximizes the volume so it's not so quiet... it's stll the authentic single mono though

It's a shame any future band with a similar message is going to be silenced by the ton of commercial crap drowing it out of existence.

what's really great about this mix too is Brian's sitar adding that extra bit of psychedelic color and almost electric quality.

Yeah, thisis one interesting version.
Less dramatic than the regular version,(probbably because of the absence of reverb here),but great all the same.
