does anyone know how to get the internet. my friend unlocked a verizon 9630 and is trying to use it on at&t, and i unlocked a us cellular 9630 for t-mobile and for some reason we cannot get internet on it. idk about his, but my phone doesn't even show there's internet on it. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!
AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM. Im not sure if you'll be able get data on it. You shoulda done your homework before unlocking it.....or gone with the a GSM Blackberry phone (Curve 8900,8520, Bold, Bold 9700,etc...)

The trackball is a well known problem on many blackberry tour phones. @buckeyemagic you simply press the shift key while you select the text with the trackball as though you were going to copy the text, but instead of pushing the menu key and copy, you just push the delete key. (At least in the Blackberry bold, that's how it works, but I'm sure they didn't change that)

This is a 3G phone, but no Wifi. If I read correctly the Curve 8900 (Javelin) has Wifi, but no 3G. The Tour also has a better keyboard and it might have a faster processor, but I'm not sure.
Basically, the Tour is a huge upgrade for people on CDMA networks. Those on GSM carriers seem to get newer BBs more often.

Not sure exactly. Certainly they make concessions, seeing as a BlackBerry is virtually castrated without email. I think the cheaper plans just give you unlimited email, while the more expensive ones have internet data inlcuded.
My unlimited email plan comes with 3GB mandatory data, and this is heavily discounted.

i know that on the blackberry curves the trackballs would usually start to fail after about a year and a half but i dont know for the tour. But if the trackball on your tour does start to lag or fail you can just take it to a verizon store and they will replace it for free.
The first few days I had it, it got sucked up fast. But after charging it regularly, reducing screen brightness and setting the "network technology" setting to 1XEV, it sucked up less battery. I can do heavy texting, browsing, etc all day and make it home with about 2 bars (40%) battery. Not really a problem for me. I noticed the battery life has been getting better the longer I've had the phone. It's still not as good on battery as my Curve 8330, but I suspect an OS upgrade will fix this.

there is no evidence or proof that CDMA's REV. A is better than the GSM based 3G technologies HSDPA, HSPA, WCDMA and etc.

sms = short message service = 160 characters. no way to override.

milehigh's right; the character limit is the definition of SMS.
This is why BlackBerry Messenger is so useful. You're charged incrementally only for the data you've used, not for 160-character packets. I think someone worked out the average cost of SMS per megabyte to be around $600 - no wonder carriers love it so much.

I really depends on whether you want a original blackberry design phone or a touch-screen.
Personally, I prefer the Tour, just because it's faster to use.
If you are a heavy phone-internet-browser, go for the Storm.

tour without a doubt, the storm SUCKS ass. i still say att has the best phone with the iphone, but the tour is the best you can get on verizon

i've never had a blackberry before. can anyone tell me what you have to buy when you get a blackberry because i keep hearing people talk about having to buy like some hardware or something like that! PLEASE RESPOND

hardware? apart from the blackberry itself? all you need is the device, charger, usb cable, headphones, micro SD card, and a case for your device. luckily, all this comes in the box, so apart from a voice/data plan, you're set!

Not sure exactly. Certainly they make concessions, seeing as a BlackBerry is virtually castrated without email. I think the cheaper plans just give you unlimited email, while the more expensive ones have internet data inlcuded.
My unlimited email plan comes with 3GB mandatory data, and this is heavily discounted.

if you get a blackberry do you have to get the data pack all i want is to be able to have texting and sending pictures and phone calls then like later on add a data plan? could you do that?

Nope you have to buy the data plan. my advice is buy one at best buy everywhere else will pretty screw you over.

I have had a blackberry for about 3 years, never had a problem with the ball. Its a great phone.

i know that on the blackberry curves the trackballs would usually start to fail after about a year and a half but i dont know for the tour. But if the trackball on your tour does start to lag or fail you can just take it to a verizon store and they will replace it for free.

The first few days I had it, it got sucked up fast. But after charging it regularly, reducing screen brightness and setting the "network technology" setting to 1XEV, it sucked up less battery. I can do heavy texting, browsing, etc all day and make it home with about 2 bars (40%) battery. Not really a problem for me. I noticed the battery life has been getting better the longer I've had the phone. It's still not as good on battery as my Curve 8330, but I suspect an OS upgrade will fix this.

there is no evidence or proof that CDMA's REV. A is better than the GSM based 3G technologies HSDPA, HSPA, WCDMA and etc.
its just too bad VZW and Sprint have to make phones that allow Global Roaming through Quad-Band GSM...which by the way ATT & T-Mobile need no extra effort since they already are GSM based which btw RULES the WORLD.
