    Do you do door frame pull ups to train, or was this just a joke? If you were serious, When you first started doing those, did it hurt your fingers? Did your fingers get used to it?

  • Do those on top of the actual door. You'll have to wedge something between the door and the wall so it doesn't swing around. With your body not being able to swing around plus the friction of your body against the door they're much more challenging.

  • @HO1ySh33t No because when people do pull ups their bodies swing, even if they do them slow they still swing. Try it, see for yourself. I can do way less door pull ups than bar pull ups

  • @Landsurfer92 I did door pull up long before bar pull up. I always found door pull up easier, since I have some foot leverage, and I can "cheat" a little by resting my elbow on the surface.

    Of course, there's this fact that I don't know how to swing with bar pull up. When I had my hand on a pull up bar, my form is already good enough to not try to cheat anymore.

  • @HO1ySh33t I think we may be talking about something different. The way I do them there is no surface to rest your elbows on and nothing to put your feet on, I cross my legs behind my body.

  • people you know its really hard to go straight arms when door dor frame pull ups, you need really strong fingers because they slide off

  • I'm able to do about 10 normal pull ups. After watching this I tried to do some on a short edge like this and I managed to do one pull up starting hanged on straight arms. Five, even not full, are quite impressive.

  • i don't know what to do, there are no bars within miles and miles of me, not at parks, nothing. my apartment, the woodframes are super crap, even the maintenance guy laughed when i asked could i use a pull up bar in them. they are all fake wood. I am so friggin going crazy over this.

  • Impressive to anyone with an untrained eye, but as a climber this is nothing special. 5 pull ups on a nice crimp like this is not very hard. Do 5 two finger pull ups on a similar crimp, then we'll talk. Also, your form needs some improvement. You need to come down all the way, man. Don't go back up unless your arms are straight. You look strong, though. If you don't already climb, you should take a trip to your local climbing gym. You'd be great.

  • @jerrywu78 If the bar is a bit taller than your head you should have enough room to come down if you bend your legs, in this case the door frame is a good arms length taller than him.

  • Nice speed form and finger pinch strength considered the frame is thin, my frame is thicker so it'easier on the fingers, I went up to 7 but slower reps and the frame made worrying noise (I might weigh more) so I did not do it again. But did you notice your left shoulder looks slightly bigger (and the arm smaller) thus pulls more and stays higher than the right? Watch it...

  • It's not that you only have to have finger strength. But the less you weigh the easier it is to pull up less than more.

    Most people probably can't do this for four reasons:

    1.Weigh too much.

    2.Fingers can't support the weight.

    3.They have sucky door frames that break.

    4.They're homeless.

  • Take your thumbs off the underside of the door jam. Try putting them on top with thumb over index fingernail. More stability this way and also much more realistic for crimping on really small crimps on real rock or plastic (yuck). Otherwise looks good.

    lat pulldown is terribvle if you want to make lat work harder just use a weight on a belt.

  • If you really want to find out what you've got try a lat pulldown machine. If you weigh, like, 140 or so, and have pretty good upper body strength, pullups are easy.... too easy. Try the lat and see what you can pulldown. That's a straight pulldown, not the "get the weight moving" type....
