Videos seem to imply that the 5D is best when used when connected to a computer .... which sort of defeats the portability aspect if you just want to practice with headphones or use the unit on stage hooked into an amp. Obviously, it's a powerful unit on its own but it does seem that to make use of its full potential you need to use it with a computer ... and CAN YOU CREATE AND EDIT ON THE COMPUTER AND DOWNLOAD INTO THE 5D ITSELF??? That would make everything really cool and useful. Anyone know?
I own a PX5D and I like it-I live in an apartment and can play as loud as I like. If you notice when he stops and talks there is a hum. It does that. I use it primarily for bass. Lots of interesting effects. It does take some book reading to use.
@CallowMethuselah Yup! You can use it with headphones and guitar. I like to lay down a backing over the drum and base so I can practice over the top. You can also use it as a cheap audio interface to Cubase or Cakewalk on your laptop. It allows me to practice pretty much anywhere on my $2200 LP Standard.
Lots of cruddy amp sims can be made to sound good when played from a $2300 ax. (Vox Virage SC) especially when cradled by a professional musician ....NOBODY with a $2300 guitar will be using something like this, be advised.

Yeeah, you can run your guitar THROUGH this an right into your amp and use it as kind of an effects box. It's the same principle as if you were using an effects pedal or board.
I play black metal and I was able to get really god distortion for that stile and I'm a picky guitar player when it come to distortion, I've been playing the somberlain from dissecion and my guitar sounds awesome with this processor. highly recomended for metal. px5d!? fuck yeah!
Amplitube.. plastic? I don't understand waht you are talking about. And many guitarists use Amplitube (the real one) as a real emulator in recordings when they don't want to carry their rig around.
Thank you Paul you seem very anxios, and I find you very sympathic :D
Yes I just wanted to say that.

Man.. more computer stuff... people spend so much time programming stuff that nobody has or takes time to learn to play.. sounds good though.

Is it necessary to use this with a computer or can I just use it between the guitar and amp? (Guitar noob here.)

can you put amplitube in your pocket and play anywhere?
stymye 3 years ago 2
Amplitube is a software program for a computer.. so technically.... I guess yes if you carry around a laptop with a nice little soundsystem in it.
CodyAllenmusic 3 years ago
amplitube, guitar rig, and all this vst are very plastic, sucks, if you wanna to practice in your home, i think is ok, but these are for nothing more

Mess with C major and minor pentatonic scales. All of those licks, as well as most blues and rock solos, are derived from those.
