  • tantoonie - amazing playing - so I'm learning trad on the mando, how do you get the triplet ornaments so smooth?

  • what plectrum do you use? do you play your triplets DUD or also UDU?

  • Oh! That is so good -)!!!

  • darn, i thought i was a good mando player. now i know that i am not. you rule.

  • Wish I could see your picking hand :-) Great job, thanks!

  • Aweseome - Now if you ever need a bodhran player, then contact me ! Hank Hogan

  • A modal? Have you done a commercial recording of this set with other instruments? You should do so . IMNSHO

  • @windybaer Modal, but what mode. Mixolydian? Ionian? One of those two would be my bet.

  • That's a sweet mid missouri mandolin. I bought mine from Mike Dulak about 10 years ago. He's trying out some new woods and has widened the fretboard by about 1/8 inch. It's really bright and punchy. Yours has a great sound!

  • Fair play that was awesome

  • Awesome.

  • Even though you posted the names of the reels in the title, I think the first one sounds much more like "Boil The Breakfast Early" by the Cheiftans

  • You may be right, but I've always been told it's "The Chicago Reel." Go figure.

  • @tantoonie0 That's because the Chieftans make up names for their entire sets, rather than listing each tune's name individually. I ran into the same problem when I went to one of my first sessions and wanted to play "Chase around the Windmill," whose first tune is actually "Toss the Feathers." (Though, honestly, I think the Chieftain's title fits the spirit of the song better.)

  • @oggendoggen2 actually, I know the track you're referring too. The chieftains actually played more reels than just 'Boil the Breakfast Early," and the last reel they play is actually called the Chicago reel, which they played wonderfully and is played wonderfully here

  • Wow dude. Simply awesome. I could sit and watch you all day. Foxhunters in particular is excellently played. Well done truly...

  • I have the same mandolin. You play much better than I do. Nice work!

  • You're a amazing player! For me, picking is very hard! How do you do?

    Thanks for posting!

  • Agree 100% about the triplets. Sounds great!

  • you have one hell of a triplet. fantastic sound. 5*. thanks for uploading.

  • Fantastic picking tantoonie... very clean all the way through.

  • Really enjoyed that set, thanks for postin it, hadn't heard the Chicago Reel before I think but love the Bucks and Foxhunters played together
