That's a sweet mid missouri mandolin. I bought mine from Mike Dulak about 10 years ago. He's trying out some new woods and has widened the fretboard by about 1/8 inch. It's really bright and punchy. Yours has a great sound!
@tantoonie0 That's because the Chieftans make up names for their entire sets, rather than listing each tune's name individually. I ran into the same problem when I went to one of my first sessions and wanted to play "Chase around the Windmill," whose first tune is actually "Toss the Feathers." (Though, honestly, I think the Chieftain's title fits the spirit of the song better.)
@oggendoggen2 actually, I know the track you're referring too. The chieftains actually played more reels than just 'Boil the Breakfast Early," and the last reel they play is actually called the Chicago reel, which they played wonderfully and is played wonderfully here
tantoonie - amazing playing - so I'm learning trad on the mando, how do you get the triplet ornaments so smooth?

@windybaer Modal, but what mode. Mixolydian? Ionian? One of those two would be my bet.

Awesome.

Even though you posted the names of the reels in the title, I think the first one sounds much more like "Boil The Breakfast Early" by the Cheiftans

You may be right, but I've always been told it's "The Chicago Reel." Go figure.
