@fumpfy IGN did a test: PC gaming can be cheaper in the long run. Especially, when you often buy new games and/or have to pay for XBox live. A $600 PC should be enough to play BF3 on the same level as consoles (720p, graphics on low to middle), but a computer screen is cheaper than a TV.

It is also not necessary to upgrade a PC - otherwise the option of upgrading a console would be needed.

In the end it all comes down to personal needs. IMHO mouse controls are better for ego shooters.
