A person with a knife 20 feet away can close that distance and render a lethal blow in less than 3 seconds. that is faster than most people can draw a weapon. That meets the proximity demand. If some one wields a knife within 20-30 feet they are showing intent and ability to do harm. Looks bad to the ignorant, but this was a clean shooting.

@oldmac1 If you currently have or have ever had a TRO, you do not have a CCW. You cannot get one and the instant one goes through, on you, the CCW you may have held is revoked. Not sure what your point is but if you are out-weaponed (like if your attacker is much larger than you) you can use deadly force. That's why the charges were dropped against the smaller employee.

More than likely one of the officers shot him with their pistol, or possibly a hit from a shotgun. Real life shootings aren't as messy as TV shows and movies make them out to be when a person is first shot.
Since there is no audio to the video, there is no way to know for sure what type of firearm was used.

In a sense I really dont feel bad for the guy. But i do think cops prefer shooting people. Hes at his house not out threatening people. By no means am I defending him. But the cops didn't have to kill him is all i'm saying. They could of gave him a little distance and lit him up with bean bags and rubber bullets. Trust me you shoot that fucker 10 or 20 times with rubber bullets the last thing hes going to do is hold a machete. He was dumb for raising it but they didn't have to.

Did you not notice he was shot AFTER he raised his weapon and readied to attack? The police were within their rights to shoot the guy you dumbasses. What did you want the officer to do, calmly sit there and let himself be hurt or killed? You can THROW blades, you know.
