  • smoke is blue, usuallymeans you are burning oil.

  • And btw blue smoke does mean oil heavy white smoke is coolant his head gasket could be fine it coulda just been a blown turbo spitting his oil through his motor

  • yea thats what it was. I love this car but i hate it at the same time. Been through 3 turbos, 3rd one was a chinese knock off and it blew my motor, along with the turbo itself. I figured this out after i wasted my money on a jdm motor reusing the turbo. After all that shit happened i was fed up and sold the car.

  • Can't cheap out on these cars or they'll cheap out on you.

    If you go DSM again though I'd suggest just trying to find a clean 1g with a 6bolt, or a 2g that you know has a 6bolt

    Much stouter motors and can take a lot of abuse.

  • @greg9210 LSx FTL. If you don't rig the shit out of the car and buy ebay shit dsm's are great cars. One thing I've learned with DSM's is to NEVER buy one thats been modded, because that is where you'll run into a lot of problems because most people are brokedicks and put nothing but ebay parts on the car. You cannot put cheap shit on DSMs they are very temperamental with the parts you put on them. Spend your money right and it'll treat you right.

  • I ran a 13.0 on a car I bought for a grand and only put an eBay exhaust on it(300zx n/a). But I like the car hopefully you've replaced the head gasket or maybe turbo by now.

  • the blue smoke is the coolent burning not oil, you need to replace the gaskets.

  • got a 95 talon 3 days ago the tsi awd and it ran for 1 day now i am geting no spark any thoughts ?

  • Are you not getting any spark period?

    Check your coil packs, and power transistor. If their good, get the crank sensor looked at with a scope. Common problem with 2g's especially 95-96's the crank sensor fails and you will get no spark. Are you throwing any CEL codes?

    Smell behind your radio for a fishy smell=bad ecu.

  • Nice car dude. Just needs some tuneup. I just bought a 1991 from a buddy of mine just needs a the motor rebuilt. It has lambo doors and a magna flow exhaust. I'm also instaling a T5 turbo on it. They may be 4 cylinder but they can flat haul ass from the start. Mine will smoke a corvette from stoplight to stoplight but on a straight strech he has my ass owned.

  • blue smoke = burning oil...not necesserily due to blow rings. low idle, you can adjust with the IAC screw on the throttle body. all turbocharged cars have wastegates and damn near all have stock bov's from the factory but they're recirculated back to the intake stream so you really won't hear it. these people are retards...if you like your car, you'll read up on it. put time and some money into it and you'll be eating some v8's pretty soon

  • blue smoked = burnt piston rings. Get them checked immediatly. All a blow off valve (bov) does is shoot the extra air out into the atmosphere after a turbo spoils to ensure theres no back draft.

    many Civics/Accords modified their cars with JDM this or JDM that, but no power and not fast enough.

    All those cars cost at least 10k, BARE MINIMUM and that's not even in good shape.

    A maintenanced talon(maintenance is key before upping the boost) can roll with a stock to near stock STi for less than 1000$ and can beat them for 1500$ or so.

    They're the 5.0's of the import world. Not the biggest engine, but VERY responsive to what you do with it. They WILL shit on you if you don't take care of them. If you're not a dumbass though, they'll last a while

  • in the early days, when i race my GLi(stock turbo) against my friend's Talon TSi(stock turbo), i got beat many times. later, he upgraded the whole system and i added chip with timer. we race again and i beat the dude by almost 2 cars or more..., every weekend. (we live 10 minutes from Englishtown raceway park)

  • yeah they do have a blow off valve on the intake side connected to the mas air sensor and a waste gate would be in the turbo.check the slack in the throttle cable.adjust if needed then adjust the idle

  • yea, check head gasket too. usuly thats white but if the oil side broke that would explain alot check oil for coolant and coolant for oil and the spark plugs

  • do they come stock with wastegates cuz the guy that sold it to me knew nothing about it but on every shift you can here like a quick release of air it might have a blowoff valve but if it does i wouldnt no

  • yeah, that release of air is the blow off valve, my undertanding with wastegate is every turbo has one, thats what adjusts the boost

  • if it had a bov(blowoff valve) you would here it loud... i have one... 95 tsi awd with a 4g63 dohc motor 2007 evo8 turbo kit... its runnin 18 psi's ... its pretty fast ... hit me up if you need help with n e thin... ooo nd change your crankshaft ... trust me lol..

  • yeah i was gonna say piston rings, the idol could be adjusted in the throttle body. i know they have really low oil pressure all the time too, dunno if that helps or not. another way to check on the rings is to check you blow-by basicly where any oil in the cylnders is sent back threw the intake. some oil is ok, but still not good id immagine

  • if the milage is high then its gonna be the valve stem seals.check the piston ring by doing a compression test.

  • thanks the milage is 130,000 so that could be it it does run strong tho for that many miles. My dad said if yoiu replace the valve seals that could fix the problem for a while to
