Hi I was wanting to get your opinion im thinking about buying a 2001 seville sts its white pearl color with the light brown cloth like top it has 93000 miles and they are asking 6000 for it it has all the options yours has so if you could help me out ill aprecciate it thanjs! :)
I have had both 3rd, 4th gens and this car all at the same time & I would pick this caddy over those every time, its pure luxury. Watching the tach swing over to 6500rpms on the Northstar is still amazing to me!

Yep, but i heard the audi 4.2 quad cam v8 is way worse at burning oil. If some one says there northstar isnt burning oil, there full of shit. Sounds like a twin cam motor problem to me.

@Irocz11389 With the N* it was an issue with carbon building up on the 2nd piston ring. The ring and piston assembly was designed to flutter at high rpms, but of course not many people who bought N* equipped cars ever rev'd the motor like it was designed for, so all that built up carbon caused the oil control rings to not wipe down the bores, thus burning oil.
@Irocz11389 I find it hard to believe that there is a rev limiter at 4k when the engine on the dyno makes peak horsepower at 6000 rpm and peak torque 4400rpm. so your claimed 300hp isn't even close because you won't actually rev the thing out.
@Irocz11389 when the thing is in park it the computer wont let the car rev past 4000RPM so it doesnt do any damage to the engine moron. Its not good reving a engine at high RPMs with no load, and what i mean by having a load on the engine is driving it instead of siting and reving it.......
@Irocz11389 it should hop past that limit if you rev it up and take it a couple thousand rpm at a time. like take 2-4 pumps and runs to get up to the redline
I am also a proud owner of a Cadillac Seville. Mine is a 2003 SLS. I am looking to install an exhaust system with a sound that is similar to or quieter than yours. I'm considering Corsa, Magnaflow, or Flowmaster. I'd like to know what size tips yours are and if you have any suggestions. What are the specs of your system?
Cadillacs have 3 main issues: leaking valve cover gaskets, short life alternators and leaking 2 piece oil pan gaskets. Not to mention GM's crappy hubs. I would check to see if these were taken care of before you buy any Cadillac,
i saw a nice gray sts in a lot the mechanic said the Head gasket was blown, everyone says the headgasket blows on these cars, i have one and its a great car so far no major problems its expensive on gas but thats the price you pay for luxury, but now my check eng lght is on its probably the gas, i went to a full service and the guy gave me 89, i always get 94, the car ran fine but didnt sound or feel as good, im full of 94 with some octane booster now, Light is still on but runs great
The reason these cars blow head gaskets is MOSTLY due to the moron that owns it, or the past owners. Nearly always, the head gasket leak is caused by the owner not changing the coolant, which eventually goes stale. Change green coolant every 2 years, or red coolant every 5.
yea actually starting in the year 95-03 for seville sts=300hp because 04 had just one model the sls 03 was last year for sts model reason behind no sts model for 04 was to get everyone anticipated for the arrival of the 05 sts
Don't waist your money on these expensive mufflers, when you can get flowtech afterburners, throw on some high temp paint, and save yourself a hundred bucks, and sounds deeper than this.
Sounds sweet man. To bad the guy i know who has one is a complete asshole and always calls my car a piece of redneck shit. I hope all sts owners aren't like this because i'm definently looking into buying one for a daily driver when i go to college.
@guku0701 They can be very expensive to maintain, but its worth it in my opinion. Head gaskets are a major concern after 100k, as are electronic struts and wheel bearings.
i would say that's very wrong. My car is perfect because the 2 owners before me took great care of the car. They used fully synthetic oil from day one, kept it in the garage, and had it serviced regularly. The oil problem you are hearing about is with 98-00, the rear main seal was a bad design and so they leaked oil. That's why i made sure i got a 01 or newer. I don't think there's a nicer luxury car for under $10,000. I Payed $8,000 and it had 115K on it.
Yes, I have a 99 STS and have read that 2001+ used a different method of casting the engine that made it less porous.
I have 80,000 miles on it and have just replaced the spark plugs and wires. The only serious maintenance I have done is to replace the alternator which in my model was liquid cooled (ie: expensive for no reason).
HID and xenon lights are the same thing as they use an arc in a xenon gas matrix to generate the light.
There are a lot of riceboy HID-lookalike halogens that claim to be charged with xenon, but the blue color from those lights come from the glass coloring and not the actual light.
The light cast out of a HID is not blue, but white with a slight bluish accent when fully warmed up; a HID is supposed to cast a light that's closer to late morning-noon sunlight in terms of temperature in kelvins.
hid's and xenon's are the same thing, i know someone that has an 08 mustang that has the hid option, which gives off a blue light, and it's not the conversion kit
The HID option of your friend's Mustang probably causes the light reflector or projector assembly itself to illuminate with a noticeable blue hue, but the actual light cast out in front of the car is likely a very brilliant white with a bluish accent.
That's also another way to distinguish between a real HID and a rice HID lookalike. Illegal bulbs that try to look like HID cast out a dangerously weak blue light, though I've also seen pinkish-violet and even green light!
