  • harbhajan rocks in this series............champion bowler

  • India are shit now. Laxman, Tendulkar and Dravid must retire.

As I write this Laxman has just gone out for a duck against the Aussies

  • dada rocks !! thumbs up if u are seeing this in 2011

  • This match actually changed indian cricket :)......we can beat ausies too

  • Its quite a fact, that if Australians were legends, Indians were legend killers !! Whenever the animal of Australian team tried to be too dominant, Indians were the ones to tame it !!

  • @avinashkapoor011 in this match at the end donkeys win lol

  • A match etched forever in every Indian fan's memory. India written off after Ist innings, were heading for another innings defeat, but what a turnaround from VVS and The Wall. They both graced Eden Gardens with flurry of shots. Bhajji's hat-trick and Tendulkar's last day heroics with the ball. India put a full stop to Australia's winning streak in Tests. Evergreen test match and Series.

  • I'd rate this better than the 2011 WC win... Long Live Test Cricket

  • Thumbs Up if you are still watching this in 2011

  • What a victory! The greatest one in tests for India. Hats off Team India, Hats off tony Greig.

  • Winning a test match after a follow-on is the toughest ask in all of sports. It requires sheer will power, and pure unadulterated determination. This win laid the foundation of the success that had eluded India in the past.

Long-term success comes after a long periods of struggle, and hard work. Hope to see India take a few pages from this win, and continue their run at Number 1 for a long time.

  • Harbhajan was amazing in this series!

  • well done india, world cup champions 2011, hard luck sri lanca

  • Probably the best cricket moment of all time

  • Today is the 10 year anniversary of this moment! Arguably the greatest moment in test cricket for me. I'm still in shock it's been that long!

  • What a series this was! And to think that these days we complain about the quality of Test wickets in India. 10 years ago, there was nothing wrong with Indian wickets. We had two good bowling attacks on display in that series.

  • Steven Waugh never enforced the follow-on again. Had the Aussies gone into bat they would have won. Hats off to the Indian team though, they made the Aussies pay dearly for their mistake.

  • all because of laxman hats off to him an epic innings ..innings of highest quality and composure..an innings of epic proportions ...... what a player

  • Wow McGrath was plumb in front. No shot offered lol.

  • he has given him..he's given em, umpire bansal has given em..my god..wat a commentator tony is..just love it.

  • i love my city...it happens only in kolkata...can anyone post the match which happened in bangalore against australia in titan cup

  • this is how I remember Indian test cricket crowds from when I was young. I remember passion and noise. India you should be ashamed at your turnout for the latest series, especially the first test!

  • @iwalker ...whats there to ashame abt bro....india is growin economy nd developn country and develpn at pace noboddy is free to go to waste whole of its day out there....so chill

there is very less % of followers who watch test match

  • Hahahaha Heeheeheehee. I just cant ever get enough of the scene where McGrath Delibrately pads it and the umpire has no hesitation whatsoever.

  • Dada's determination took India to places in world....India will remember you forever...

  • tony greig is the best commentator ever....

  • Australia never enforced te follow on again

  • magical moments of my life........

  • Does McGrath ever think he's out? What an idiot

  • @Tehui1974 how far was he down the crease? yeah it was pretty plumb but there was another doubt there..

  • haha classic match

aussies can suck my behind anytime

  • India can suck my gangullys

  • @stiggy869: What's it like to have father and mother that are also brother and sister?

  • @stiggy869 fuck u son of a bitchhhhhhhhh stiggy .bastard fucking ass mother fucker come in front of me nd i show u what a fucking bastard u r.

  • @stiggy869 Just like how we 'sucked' away world number one ranings in tests???

  • @stiggy869 You are a stupid idiot who thnks like that just see the beating they got from india and they let thier downfall bandar

  • @stiggy869 You all are just a bunch of fuking money

  • Love the way Tony Greig is surprised at McGrath being given out padding up in front of middle

  • nazh...juz control ur emotions n u comparing a OCEAN and RIVER???der z no weight 2 ur argument.nt even a RIVER,K.P is a drop in a OCEAN.hahahaha.chao!!

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD first understand cricket then get ur pussy over here u mother****** K.P. first of all could not represent his own country

  • this is india guys...gr8 india....

  • ha ha evn a security guy was keenly concentrating on the match rather than controlling crowd movement......this shows tht the passion for cricket in india is unbeatable

  • even the cops didn't cared about the crowd.!

  • V.V.S Laxman showed he is a class apart in this match. There are few better sights in Test cricket than watching this accomplished player hitting shots around the ground.

You can keep your K.P's and 20/20 batsmen, V.V.S is a player you can never tire of watching.

  • yep, exactly right. The way he was advancing shane warne from around the wicket and hitting through the off side for boundaries was a sight to behold

  • @NazhitsREALLYHARD ur the prick man. how many matches has K.P one for his country. is any of his innings remembered now. this innings by V.V.S will be remembered even after 20 years.

  • now ur comparing K.P to Sachin. ur funny man. do u work @ a circus r wat.BTW u seem to love the word prick very much. how many do u enjoy everyday. be mature and stop abusing pp.

  • Lol .. you know what the truth is?? The Truth is Austrians forced the follow on and still India won the test ! LOL!!

  • @FaddleonLSD well i have only one suggestion for u. grow up man...ur comments suggest either u only pretend to be a cricket follower or u never went to school

  • Packed out Eden Gardens to compkement the drama, doesnt get much better

  • india vs australia real masala.........

i m dying to see triangular series among ind auzzies ang s afcns

  • A truly great series!! And Im Australian! this was the first series id seen in india (on tv), 1st Test: Hayden/Gilchrist counterattack, 2nd Test: Waugh's hundred and partnership with Gillespie, Singh's 'hat trick', Laxman/Dravid (I dont think i ever felt so frustrated, i mean even Hayden bowled!), 3rd Test: Waugh handling the ball, Hayden 200, Tendulkar's hundred, and India almost snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in their runchase. Then there were massive Aussie batting collapses too.

  • how far forward was McGrath?

  • Not far enough it seems. No shot offered either, so it's pretty adjacent.

  • yeah thats tru mate

  • Even that Test in Australia where Kumble was stranded in the 40's, had Harbajan or someone survived even a few more deliveries Kumble would have played the final over and led India to an amazing historic draw against Australia, that was brutally outstanding, and it was so good I couldn't bear to watch Australia win, I wanted an India draw and it could have all been possible if only someone stayed with Kumble, what a fine Player and Captain.

  • Amazing win, our best ever. This is why test cricket is so much better than the hit and giggle limited over formats, especially 20/20.

  • i agree 110%

I also remember that Bhajji went up to the Aussie fans after the match and........showed them the middle finger ahahahahahaha

He was up to his tricks even in those days.

  • you cant beat an innings that is gritty and determined like a typical mike atherton innings....altho Sachin and Lara are amazing on the eye and dont forget KP

  • How quick was he prepared to give McGrath out! The camera man was too slow to see the finger go up! Right decision tho!

  • hey listen this series was brilliant yes australia won but india pushed them all the by way good luck on your retirment gilly

  • When no-one gave them a chance, with the whole Aussie media and team writing them off, when even some of their own people had written them off, India pulled of a miracle !!

Just like 8 years later :)

Victory of good over evil. An epic.

  • Why are Australia evil?

  • the evil he's talking about is not Australia, but the negative perceptions in our own media...especially about Dravid, Laxman, etc.

  • oh ok, thanks

  • No, Australia are evil lol.

  • @montychandra

good over evil.....don't be a fuckstain.

  • This match was also called the "epic"

A match which will be remembered for all time to come.

Almost to the level of the story of a Mahabharat.

    Vistory of good over evil.

  • good over evil..:O..come on buddy..this is a sport.! :o

  • Any guess who is the poorest of all the Cricketers at present playing in for India.

    It is suprise...suprise...

    Laxman.

He dont have any Ad commercial money. He was not offered any.

His Govt dont care as fans from his state dont adhore him much.

Las time when I went to movie in Hyderabad I saw at Interval some local Ads carrying his photo endorsing a local Detergent !!!!!

Can any one believe that !!

  • ummm he is payed in the tier one level by bcci ( same group as tendulkar),

  • And 6 years 10 months and 4 days later, a total of 2501 days later, history has repeated itself with India beating Australia as Australia were chasing their 17th test!

  • YAY! finally got the aussies back to their senses!

  • you can't Laxman away and make this two wins possible.

Not to undermine the other team members but seeing the way Laxman is treated..almost sidelined.. we have to mention his name

  • congratz. well played too. Adelaide would have been a great match if it were a 6 dayer instead of 5 = (. but you guys certainly didnt shame yourselves on the field in Australia.

  • Aussies should've packed up and threatened to go home- seems to be the thing to do when decisions don't go your way these days

  • they (aussies) have every right to go home but only..'ONLY' if the umpires did such blunders that would have costed them the match like last week. however, the truth is not on aussies side.

  • So, whenever a decision doesn't go a team's way they have the right to take their bat and ball and go home. You're an idiot.

  • That was to ETworldjone. Sounds like I'm abusing myself- which I do on occasions, but not this time.

  • funky, Its not just that an umpire misjudged a nick...its not just one or two of them...and strangely those blunders were too high agianst the indian side. There were a few umpiring mistakes in the first test...but did anyone protest that? no. so, get out of ur fantasy world and get ur facts right!

  • funkymofo, Whenevar 'A' decision?? do you know anything thats goin' on in the world of cricket? have you got any idea of that 'umpiring blunders' that costed India a hard-fought match? if so u wouldn't be saying idiotic things.

  • ET, look at the decisions, certainly most of them went Australia's way, no-one is denying that. There were however, a number that went against Australia too, eg. Tendulkar LBW (going on to score approximately the same number of runs that Symonds did after being adjudged not out).

  • if the problem was with bucknor not giving symonds' out the controversy would have begun from day two. But no one made this a big issue and infact they ignored it. But look at how many he went on to make. he did not bother to learn from his mistakes and turned them into blunders which costed a team a match.

  • ET, look at the decisions, certainly most of them went Australia's way, no-one is denying that. There were however, a number that went against Australia too, eg. Tendulkar LBW (going on to score approximately the same number of runs that Symonds did after being adjudged not out).

  • So it's not one way traffic here. India has the right to protest if they feel harshly done by. Read that again- protest, not throw a tantrum and threaten to go home like little boys in a sandpit. Ending a tour in this manner actually incurs a US$2 million fine according to ICC rules which may tell us a little more about the reasons for withdrawing the threat.

  • I could go on about Indian behaviour in comparison to Australian behaviour because this has been touted as another reason for India's capitulation (India reported 42 times vs. 25 for the Aussies in the last ten years) but I have a feeling that none of it is going to get through. So I'll keep it simple. Read on, my friend (the 500 character limit is killing me).

  • India failed to win the test because India again failed to take 20 wickets and their tailenders folded like a cheap hooker who's been hit in the guts by a fat guy. Let's not even get on to over rates, lack of fitness and horrendous fielding. I wonder what the problem will be when India again fail in the 3rd test, the harsh Australian sun, the Fremantle Doctor, a black cat walking in front of the tour bus?

  • indian cheat. fucking cheat cunts

  • skeepe my goodman, could not have put it any better myself.

WHAT THE FUCK are India complaing about, it hink its called karma for the shit we copped in 2001

  • So let's see what we have here... A team appealing when a batsman can't possibly be out (McGrath)... an umpire incorrectly giving it... and then a team celebrating in the middle of the field without shaking hands with the opposition... exactly what Australia were criticised for this week. Hypocrites.

  • This match was also called the "epic"

A match which will be remembered for all time to come.

Almost to the level of the story of a Mahabharat.

    Vistory of good over evil.

  • I hope India would come back like this in the second test. India was doing well today and reduced aussies to 130 something for 6. But awful umpiring and some good plays by symonds and hogg turned everything onto the aussie side. C'mon India... comeback strongly like 2001!

  • yuvraj just got out for a duck dickhead

  • man!!! got goose bumps at 1.10 . This is indian cricket!! heart of cricket!!

  • look at the crowd !

  • I will enjoy watching india collapse in defeat this summer in AUSTRALIA, it won't be as entertaining as when england lost the ashes out here but it will still be very very good to watch!

  • i agree aus is a good side but that doesnt mean that they cant lose a test..wait and watch...yuvraj and the big 3 are gonna bat you guys out of the series!

  • This is ur over confidence Mr.

    Steviogriffini.

  • shut ur vegemite ass up boi

  • Why is that faggot standing there and staring at the umpire?? he thinks he not out??

Get your ass in the rest room you bitch!!

  • A monkey on the wall? NOW YOU LOT ARE CALLING MCGRATH A MONKEY?

  • look at glenn mcgrath's face. The fart looks like a monkey on the wall. Good sportsmanship demands that you shake hands with your opponents before you leave the field

  • No it's not it's sreenath!!! Jeez! You don't even know how to spell your best players name? On Boxing day the Indians will be destroyed!

  • its sreesanth u fukn cunt...

  • Oh no, Sachin hasn't payed his tax? Sreenath isn't touring Australia? If india aren't going to send their best side then they shouldn't bother coming over at all!

  • dont worry we will make the roos' hopping n more when time comes. we have many more sreesanths in india. plus you know viru sehwag is back n iam seeing brett lee starting to pee in his pants and macgill consoling him and feeling gleeful he wont be there.

  • Some decisions that went for India were dubious, but then again, I don't think Aussie umps are fair either in their territory (Darrel Hair, for instance). Good win, nonetheless.

  • No it's not good to see any side stand up to AUSTRALIA! It's disrespectful! Australia should be feared and respected! Not treated like Englishmen!

  • As an Englishman it's great to see any team stand up to Australia!

  • i cant find any of the series highlights on youtube, someone should put them on!

  • this was one of the greatest test matches ever.

  • The greatest test match ever ! I remember like it was yesterday ! An underrated bunch of Indian players stopped the mighty machine. Australia understood the passion of cricket in India. And found in Ganguly someone who was prepared to pay them back in the same coin. Unforgettable legend !

  • australia might have won the odi series 4-2, but test is a different game, i think gautam gambhir deserves a place in the test team as well,

gautam gambhir, ganguly, tendulkar, rahul dravid, vvs laxman, yuvraj singh, dhoni, irfan pathan, zaheer, harbhajan, kumble and rp singh, sreesanth and munaf patel.

  • this is one of the joint best cricket moments ever, along with edgebaston 2005. hmm, and they both concern aussie defeats!

  • aussies are the true champion

  • wattt did u said?..come pass parra..bitch ass..punk ass...

    ausii are jst lucky bastards..

    die

  • yeah you are right..3 consecutive world cups..uncompareable test records..5-2 recent series..

  • haah i love beckham:D..

but yer australia is getting thr ass whopped:P now!

  • after 5-2 it does not matter much..

  • nothing like cricket at eden gardens! love it.

  • Eden gardens tho a nice ground has a piece of crap pitch and crowd. The crowd sux and is so totally biased. The bongs are cricket clueless and should stick to football. The most unsportsmanlike like crowd that will create total chaos as history shows whenever India loses there. And have I ever seen them cheer the opposing team even when they're playing well? huh!!

  • u stupid bastard... did ur head hit the ground first at birth? I was at a India england match there and trescothick was given a standing ovation... oh and so did steve waugh in this match - watch the replay then make a comment. The crowd are cheering cos their HOME TEAM won. oh and when India lost to south africa in 05 there, South Africa were given a standing ovation too.

  • biased pronoba..go to hell..dont talk abt smthing which you have no clue.

rightly said hmm..eden garden knows how to salute a hero, or a true fighter.show me another city with the emotion and madness with true heart as calcutta has..?..bakwas a gaye idhaar!!

  • i was in there in dat match..seriously i will say this..there is a reason eden gardens (calcutta) is the 2nd best cricket ground in the whole world after lord's because every match that takes place there ends up as intense as this match and it makes history..100000 people went berserk everytime a wicket fell..it was deafening, it was an amazing experience and all praise to ganguly as captain..the team was always on fire under his captaincy

  • wow... i wish i could see a match and a series similar to the 2001 india-australia one... it must had been simply a wild experience to watch such a historic match... i could imagine the crowd there... i am sure i would have had a heart attack because of the nature of the crowd and the game...

  • I was there on the day when india won at eden gardens crowd around me went wild every time wicket won and we were praising umpire Bansal for raising finger

  • very very special laxman, dravid and harbajan were beautiful.

  • Indian cricket's Golden Moment. We are known for moments, not winning units, but I'd rather have moments like this than dull, predictable thumping victories over and over again.

  • कया मैच था यार!

  • for more views try putting the word 'cricket' in your tags.

  • Omg. Dude thanks for posting this. What an incredible test series that was! Right up there with the Ashes 05 as one of the best test series ever.

This post deserves more views and favorites.

I'm am so looking forward to the up coming Gavaskar-Border trophy thats around the corner :)

  • is tht gonna be in australia this yr?

  • Yup. It's gonna be played in Aus this time. 4 test matches I believe.

  • I just hope india dont get humiliated in australia. I know they competed last time in autralia but this time australia i get a feeling will want revenge like they did against england. 4-0 whitewash could be a possibility! hope not but think about it?
