Anyone have ANY idea what the lyrics are? I know it's probably only 7 or 8 syllables in all, but I can't be sure about any of them. My drummer and I are gonna cover this one this weekend :) Ahhhh, good old Drop-D (or drop Db, as the case may be...)
@ifutureman dying ocean, dead head watchin' the figures march without soul observe the pages safe place without your sky full of me full of me dying ocean, dead head watchin' all the figures walk without soul without soul without soul
@BossHossGT500 ahhhhh.... so it *could* just be a fan's interpretation. Although they certainly read like Broaderick. I thought maybe you owned a "Tiny Tears" ep and had official lyrics. Oh well, thanks anyway :)
Still my favorite Godflesh track ever. I wish they made an entire record that sounded like this, but maybe thats why I like it so much, it is a one-off gem...
way too good to be a bonus track though! should have been one of their main track's instead. just loving this so much in the same way to hawkwind's silver machine.
Tracks 1114 were originally recorded as the Tiny Tears [EP], which the band wanted the label to release as their follow up to the Godflesh [EP]. Earache Records, however, pushed the band to record a full length album instead, and the Tiny Tears [EP] never saw an independent release. The tracks were instead later appended as bonus tracks to the second CD issue of Streetcleaner.
great track, sound's like they have been listening to slowdive and jane's addiction and mixing it with very heavy metal. nonetheless a damn fine track from the flesh. 8/10
@jameyinegypt I remember listening to this in spring 1989 at the Swamp Club in Birmingham (before Slowdive actually formed) so I have to disagree with your observation that Godflesh were influenced by them. I know that music genres and styles do cross, and I agree with you that the sense of doom and gloom created in Streetcleaner by Godflesh in 1989 also appears in shoegaze bands like Slowdive. I met Justin Broadrick in the same year and found him approachable and articulate. Check out JESU.
@nickameghino I know that after Godflesh released their second studio album wich developed a more pleasant sound a big majority of the fleshfans were dissapointed;this is indeed their spookiest record.I'm even more amazed by Broadwick's vocals;you won't meet so much talent in today's industrial metal scene;I have to say their later records weren't bad at all developing an even more accurate guitar disortion
....always looove that Godflesh mixxxture of Bass-Guitar and Drum-Machine....sounds like a melodic fuckin' Jackhammer !!

@ifutureman No problem, sorry I couldn't be of more assistance, although to be honest with you those do sound like the actual lyrics.
