  • GREAT SONG....I LOVED IT AS A CHILD....

  • @earnold1985 We dont need that here

  • Oh god that tremolo arm sounds so amazing! Bobby is the best. I am so in ruv with this song right now.

  • glad to see the remaining members of the Grateful Dead not sell out to Vevo. if you're an extremely talented artist and sell out to those corporate fucks, you have "sucked Satan's cock" in Bill Hicks' eloquent words

  • 15 people won't get by..

  • was there and loved this! They also played with Neil and did Forever Young - a big moment for me to see my two favorites playing together -- thanks for the memory!

  • THE MUSIC NEVER STOPPED ! sonora band of the movie !

  • MY step dad is 46 and im 22 he told me he hates touch of grey and that he only like a few songs from the dead. I told him he needs to high and feel the love!

  • This music has so much more meaning than today's shit.

  • huh. I will never understand why my aunt was a 'Deadhead', she talks about them like it was the first man to take her virginity.

But i'm not getting into them : \

  • @feetwithnoshoes Wow I didnt know there could be a second man to take someones virginity. lol first man

  • Saw them in Spring or Summer of 94 in Sacramento. Had moved to Vacaville from San Francisco and hadn't seen them in 3-4 years. So glad I saw Jerry one more time! He died not long afterwards!

  • @anbui123 i second this

  • @anbui123

Listen to one of the true guitar masters play, preferably on a bootleg. Close you're eyes and you're there. (PS -- to the copyright cops, the Dead did and do encourage bootlegs, mixes and stuff like that.)

  • Rolling Stone Magazine called Rush the biggest cult band of all time. Even though I'm a huge Rush fan Grateful Dead wins no contest. Go DeadHeads!

  • I love Jerry Garcia ...

  • why does he look sad?

  • @superdethjoint haha it's called a touch of grey, we all get a turn

  • Bill was a friend of mine...just watched this for the first time since being there. We did the Oakland Col. days before and the Dead refused to cancel the show the night Bill died...then this. Dirty Dozen opened this with the funeral march around the polo fields...then, then it was either the Dead or Santana that started the tribute.

  • DOES ANYONE WANNA BUY MY SHIRT?! ILL TRADE YOU MY SHIRT FOR A GRILLED CHEESE

    - well put stewie.

  • sad day jerrys freting for his for his brother billy

  • This a Great song , My Brother Bruce Loved it

  • (insert angry comment) Just enjoy the dead gratefully jesus!

  • i am amazed at the diversity of ignorance displayed on these comments....feel free to chalk me up to one of them but....you might as well just be who you are. you just were'nt there that day. and that's o.k. a touch of grey might suit you anyway. Bruce

  • I wish i would of found the dead long before i did but, i guess its never too late!

  • This was my first concert. I was 3. Gotta love hippie parents.

  • i live in hamilton ontario canada, and when the grateful dead came to hamilton the city let them stay in the golf course, they left it cleaner than it was before they came.

  • Why do U poor souls even bother to criticize? GET A LIFE! Just who do think U R? at this rate, U will die miserable. Is that rock 'n' roll? WAKE UP!

  • man i feel stoned just by watching this.

  • @fingerfun123 you aint the only one man lol i got em all too! lol go greatful dead! r.i.p. Jerry Garcia

  • such a great song

  • anyone notice at 4:52 the creepy cloaked man pouring a vial of something into the refreshments? xD

  • @datoneskaterboy420 I notice him with a vial. However I don't notice anything "creepy" about him. Chill, dude! Enjoy the 'dead!

  • a touch of grey the rest is white for this old beatnik, the dead always do the trick, like hit by a brick. Oh Yeah its all cool fool. I was a jazz and blues dude when the dead did first SF acid test.

I liked acid wasn't sure I would like rock, it was the days after Chuck Berry, Little Richard were jailed and hounded out of the country and before real rock returned Alive and Dead.

  • Hey, guys, you gotta watch "The Music Never Stopped" movie, trust me, you'll love it if you are a true hippie

  • WE ALL MISS YOU JERRY A moment of silence please

  • 08/09/11 16 years .. A moment of silence please.

  • @DeadheadRI My husband and I have been together for 31 years and the grateful dead has been a major part of our relationship, we've danced together and loved together to the tune of the dead playing. Whenever we have had major problems in the relationship we've gone to a dead show and remembered what loving was all about. We've seen 127 shows all over the country together.

  • @jennylister77 congratulations.

  • before my time caught the tail end of their reign but still a dead head for life

  • the walls are melting

  • Rip Jerry you rock. Grateful Dead forever.

  • I miss seeing them every summer in Las Vegas at the Sam Boyd Silver Stadium... Those were good times... RIP Jerry!

  • Man, Jerry looked rough.

  • HAD THE ABSOLUTE PLEASURE OF WORKING BEHIND STAGE AS A SF. PARTY PROP CO. EMP AT THIS GREAT SHOW !!!!! LOVE YOU G D !!!! THANK YOU FOR A GREAT DAY IN MY LIFE !!!

  • I saw the Dead in NYC in 1968, never forgot them over the long years after. This clip is simply 'Pure Dead,' the Dead at their very best. They may well be seen by future historians as the one National Treasure which emerged from the 20th century. *goes back to pipe*

  • my aunt and uncle met at a grateful dead concert, they were in a pot circle, acid was thrown into the mix, my aunt started hallucinating and having a seizure, my uncle a paramedic hippie saved her while he was high as hell, she came too, kissed him, and he said "marry me" when the dead started playing friend of the devil, they've been married thirty four years, if that doesnt show the power of music, I dont know what does

  • @poeticreject That could very well be the silliest story I've ever heard. Were you tripping on acid when they told you, or when you wrote it? Good lord, get a fucking grip man!

  • @gtmcwful I thought it was beautiful man

  • @yur1pr1m3

    ah you're my new buddy

  • @poeticreject Greatest love story ever!!

  • @poeticreject cool story!

  • @wichitarick 50 here, and I'm damn proud of my gray hairs. I have three daughters; I earned every damn one of 'em.

  • A touch of beauty

  • this is absolutely horrible

  • @clsrocker how so?

  • me too man, i'm a blank blank and i like blank blank and listening too blank blank and blowin dudes, ending with some personal opinion statement about the dead.

  • Puts me in a good mood :)

  • love this live version!

  • The beginning of the end for Jerry, makes it all that much more beautiful of a performance.

  • aparently this band is good... No offence but this is too slow, i prefer avenged sevenfold...

  • @crusharush it's okay, leave the dead to the heads and you enjoy some of the shittiest music ever created.I enjoy metal as well being an open minded music lover. but avenged sevenfold? enjoy middleschool kid.

  • @opanasallday You know, I'm a 40+ rock fan who also enjoys all kinds of bands. My fave bands are Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains...but I love everything from The Dead to Bruce Springsteen to Bullet For My Valentine to GnR. And IMO, A7X happens to be an EXCELLENT band. Just because kids like them doesn't make them a shitty band. They happen to be talented, and their record City of Evil is one of the best hard rock/metal albums of the past decade. It's possible to like GD *and* A7X. I'm proof!

  • @opanasallday im not an avenge sevenfold fan, but i am very into metal, hardcore, post hardcore and all the sub genres that fall under them. But back to the point...avenged are incredibly talented, especially back in the early 2000's when they wrote songs like "the second heartbeat" i am a musician, and just by looking at a bands sheet music, or their "score" i can tell how technical shit is, and avenged are really technical. P.S if ur name means what i think it does..i love opana's too haha

  • @opanasallday same here dude, metal(old school) is my main thing, but i am pretty openminded to other music, like the dead. but i cant get into avenged sevenfold, their just like emo posers or somethin, but people can listen to what they want i guess

  • @gnrplusledzeppelin Of course they can. So allow me to apologize for my abrasive nature. Who am i to judge?

  • @opanasallday no its cool i do it all the time, i find myself being more of an elitist than i should be, but the point of music is for entertainment, not competition so im not innocent in that field either

  • @opanasallday hey i'm in middleschool what are you trying to say?

  • @MrChinaCatSunflower that you must have a great upbringing or a mature preference of music to be into the dead if you are in middleschool.

  • @opanasallday Dude, I like Avenged Sevenfold and Grateful Dead. Just because you don't like Sevenfold doesn't mean they're in middleschool. I graduated from High School and might go to college soon and I like some Avenged Sevenfold. Seriously dude, it's a matter of opinion. Different strokes for different folks. A real dead head would know that.

  • @nightflyer777 Oh man looks like I just got called out by the headiest head out there. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but not everyone needs to express them. That's all I was getting at.

  • @opanasallday I guess Mummy never taught you to use your inside voice or just shut up. Do you think anyone cares about your musical tastes? Guess what, no one does.

  • @mojosfun You're telling the wrong dude, dude. stop being a self contradicting asshole because no one cares about your opinion, especially.

  • i will get by i love the dead and i'll be forever truckin thank god for a touch of grey and THE GRATEFUL DEAD changed my life!!!!

  • Long live The Dead and Jerry I love you. You were my first concert. I love you all.

  • that guy in the crowd in the beginning looks like Jerry Seinfeld

  • I will Survive.

  • ahh talent. always great to hear it, specially with the kids at my school and their damn rap. i feel like the only non drug crazed teen who likes this stuff

  • @sportman41728 Dont worry bud your no the only one, we will get by in CT.

  • Only one word comes to mind when watching this video... magical.

  • I see the comment above about this song getting you through your heroin addiction which is awesome glad you kicked that habit and lived to tell the tale many do not, the irony of it all is Gerry Garcia spent most of his life stoned to the four winds. The dead were an awesome band and had a style that will never be duplicated.

  • You know...I was born and raised in Ventura, 30 yrs....and then I moved from home, because of babies and the need for money...Dam...Big mistake. But a little memory. When the dead started coming to Ventura...boy what a mind blower. At first- it scared hell right into me...lol... it scared me, hell the trip I took, Not for the weak. But I have to say, I’ve grown to appreciate Gerry Garcia's music, Its part of me. I draw on it constantly, while entertaining myself In my one man GargeBand. Winks

  • This is great! Cheers from Finland!

  • Gerry died a hero with the whole stigma of additction

  • I just love this band. Along with Zappa, Jimi and all the other special ones. Oh Big Buddha

  • I just love this band. Along with Zappa, Jimi and all the other special ones. Oh Big Buddha

  • I've seen the Dead 30+ times from 1979 to 1995 (3 months before Jerry's death). There will never be another Band like the Dead. Not the best musically, but definitely the best spiritually. A very special part of me...I love these guys.

  • I'm not Grateful Dead fan, but I remember listen that music, lovely memories!!

  • Great song, but I can barely hear the lyrics.

  • ok blueoystercult member i knew joe bouchard very well he was my music teacher so put some space in your face and shut the fuck up.

  • Fuck Heroin. Why would you stick a needle in your arm? Stick with pot and psychedelics they never seem to cause problems.(To responsible users) But in general psychedelics aren't very addictive; usually the experience is so profound that it makes the user not want to experience it again and again and again but instead relish the experience and try to apply it your moral beliefs and personal philosophical beliefs.

  • sorry if i offended you little hippie people. put some flowers in your hair and be happy. plus shouldnt you be off saving the rain forest or recycling your sandels or some shit. angry hippies are so funny.

  • @keelay9003 im a loser not a hippy! >:( stereotypes are so hurtful.

  • @keelay9003 put some space in your face and stop antagonizing.

  • @blueoystercultmember whatever numb sac.

  • The Dead went through a lot of different phases: The possessed psychedelic late 60s; the transition in the early 70s (my favorite period); the slick mid-to-late 70s; another great transition period in the early 80s; the auto-pilot Dead of the late 80s into the 90s. I always loved them, but there was finally a time where they could've played a show asleep (and sometimes seemed to.) I can only say this: I'd give an organ to see the whole band, including Jerry, together again... auto-pilot or not

  • Love Bill Graham but hate the grateful dead.

  • fucking hippie bullshit. no greatness in any of that.

  • @keelay9003 You pry listen to the black eyed pees you loser. Or is it Metallica. Either way your still gay. So much talent here.

  • @keelay9003 :,(

  • Thank you , my Dad surgury weny just fine and is wlking and eating and should be released from yhe hospi in

  • I am 49 and I am actually a little bit young to be a Deadhead That just goes to show ya, these guys (FURTHUR, post Jerry Bands, ETC.) are an institution for sure a very important band for what's heard now. I was into Punk till my first show 4/28/85 changed things around a bit.

  • My dad is going through triple bypass surgery right now as I right this and for some reason I had to play this, always gotta keep positive in life my friends, there is always somthing good that comes outa even the worst moments in our lives.......!

  • @lastkidzintown The Able Baker Charlie Best Wishes and good health to you and your family

  • I've gotta be one of the only 16 year olds who owns all their albums. What a shame!

  • @iplayrhythm The Dead swept in a hord of Rockabilly-pyscho country majesty.

    A Dead concert was timeless.

  • @iplayrhythm You're not alone...

  • @iplayrhythm your one of us few who understand real music!

  • @iplayrhythm This isn't true at all, I had all of their albums when I was sixteen (two years ago) and I have quite a few younger friends that thoroughly enjoy The Dead. There are a lot more younger listeners than you would think. The Dead will never die.

  • @Leaveitago haha great to know! there a huge influence for my band. Great music to base morals to, helps put a smile on your face, tells a story with every song. the Dead's perfection!

  • @iplayrhythm you got the rest of your life to start your live collection :)

  • @shermski77 Oh trust me i've already started haha!

  • @iplayrhythm ... owning their albums is not the true experience of the dead.... you've got to get ahold of all their live stuff, thats the true dead, not their studio stuff.....

Recommendation : Cornell, NY 5/8/77 ... one of the best shows ever on American soil

  • @iplayrhythm its alright

  • @iplayrhythm Im with you there bro. It is very much a shame.

  • @iplayrhythm I gotta be only 16 year old, that pirated all their albums.

  • @iplayrhythm nope im right there with ya man

  • @iplayrhythm

No you are not. I am. 16 My dad has everyone of their albums and I listen to them all the time. I have seen Furthur in concert last November and seeing them again in July.

  • @iplayrhythm don't worry man. you are not alone. fellow 16 year old here who owns all of their studio albums and dick's picks. our music these days just, quite frankly, sucks dick.we were born in the wrong damn generation

  • @sportman41728 agreed, i have most of their live stuff and dicks picks, but there is good music, its mostly in the underground, but yes i do wish i lived in the 60's/70's greatest musical era

  • @iplayrhythm Im right with you brother

  • @iplayrhythm lol your not the only one, im 16 as well!

people don't know the beauty they're missing

  • @iplayrhythm that's cool..enjoy d the music..my flowerchild

  • @iplayrhythm dont me dumb, there still lots of dead heads out there

  • @iplayrhythm

    im right with ya brother

  • @iplayrhythm my brother has them to and he is 16 also he has like 200 live tapes of them
