  • I love getting high on codeine and jamming to this album. I hope I die that way. Sure beats the way some of my buddies bought it in the sandbox.

  • I saw these guys in the Soo. They were awesome!!! Mind you, it was back in the 80's.

  • pritty funny how some people say hip hop shit is better than this im 14 and this music is the best

  • is this around 1980?

  • @tobycleo 1981 off of they're "Nature of the Beast" Album.

  • needs more cowbell

  • if your canadian and you love classic rock youd be a fool to not like april wine especially this fucking awesome song

  • God I love this song!!

  • seriously who disliked this rofl, 10000% better than that shit today.

  • im proud to be a canadian because we're better than everybody else

  • Top notch band. Great singing, great guitar tone, great songs!!!!!!!!!

  • 38 people dislike real music...losers

  • I am actually from the town where the lead singer was born (Woodstock, NB) , I'm so proud of that

  • I saw these guys in concert in Pembroke, Ontario. Pround to be a Canadian. (For the most part.)

  • this is the best song ever written

  • My uncle was the drummer (y)

  • @Trident501 Hope you didn't get his gene for hair

  • @shimojones lol well it wasnt blood it was through a marriage but still :p

  • the very reason why im proud to be a Canadian

  • @metalliczepplin15 ///I don't get it????? Billy Thorpe was born in England -1946, and emigrated to Australia in n1955. Please enlighten me my brother....too bad he's dead 'cuz he certainly was always welcomed in the USA!!!p e a ce

  • @xxzeon April Wine originated in Nova Scotia, Canada. Who's Billy Thorpe? I'm pretty sure the lead singer is Myles Goodwyn. There's no Billy Thorpe in this band.

  • @xxzeon i am aware of that but the band itself originated in Canada

  • yah home grown canadains

  • This is truly one of the best rock songs ever written. It's in the top ten. Something has truly been lost since those days. There is NO modern airplay band that is worth shit on a rope.

How the fuck did we get from this to Nickelback?

  • Triumph

  • Triumph

  • knew they were good 1st time I herard them

  • Yes they were! Canandian Rock Rules!

  • @kanderso2011 as an American that's difficult to argue.

  • Had the album, 49 years old, still bad ass!

  • Hey,am 55 and remember them well to!

  • Rock on boys!

  • Not bad for snowbacks.

  • I THINK what Sykoze means is that this song was recorded live and no bullshit. No filters or studio tweeks. I am tone deaf and I can be made to sound like a great opera star or like David Lee Roth all in same recording because digital manipulation of a voice is standard practice. That why most bands today sound like shit live. Nobody can sing.

  • holy fuck i love april wine

  • Alike Triumph & Helix, yet another fantastic, CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED & UNSUNG Cnd Band!

  • @sweenykim April Wine were not underrated or unsung in their time. They had a massive amount of hits, and were known worldwide.

  • @Sykoze Compared to the other 70s-80s bands globally, AW, were UNSUNG & UNDERRATED, "in their time" esp in the mid 80's, which is rather disappointing, albeit typical of fickle musical tastes. Nonetheless, they were influential & had 8 Gold & Platnum albums, so not too shabby.

  • @Sykoze

I sure miss those times !!! Hell-o, I'll go back to 8-track, to hear that kinda rock again.

  • hurricane at the very least

  • I saw them open for Stix , no stinkin auto tune , these guys , like most 70s bands had real talent , no bs garbage , the real deal

  • great

  • what an outstanding song! loved it forever!

  • my friend works with the lead guitarist when he is off tours LMFAO FLAMOF ALMFAO

  • The Big 80s !!

  • holly fuck they sound perfect and no auto tune

  • @FISHcakes420 No autotune as we know it today, but they still did use vocal correction. Most bands of most genres do, and have for decades. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just that nobody's perfect.

  • @Sykoze besides using reverb, distortion, compressors, etc. that simply masked bad vocals, what kind of "vocal correction" did old live bands use?

  • @suedejones That all counts. They didn't use autotune, but they still did use vocal correction.

  • @Sykoze

True-They also ONLY used 16 track audio tape and the video tricks were performed with a pair of scissors and scotch type tape in one hand and a strawberry joint in the other. You could actually see a group live and know you were at the correct show.

  • @suedejones Kind of what I'm wondering lol.

Please tell us of this "vocal correction" you're talking about Sykoze.

  • @CthulhuForCocoaPuffs Yes, Sykoze did give me an extremely vague answer to my question lol. I still don't know what form of vocal correction that older bands have used for decades. *shrugs*

  • lyrics are incredible....let alone the music....gives me chills....love these guys

  • There's one hippy! One hippy! lol

  • great!

  • this is the best fucken music of our time , im 44yrs, old and saw them in concert and it was awesome best time of my life !!!!!

  • @ooshmay67

I went to see them in concert numerous times. The 70's and 80's were king for Rock N Roll. Concerts today suck compared to the ole days.

I am so glad that I was able to see a vast majority of the great bands live.

  • @ooshmay67 Did you get the concert shirt? April Wine was the first rock concert that I went to. Got the tickets for my birthday :). I am going to be 44 this year too!

  • @ooshmay67 I'm 26 and got to hang out with them at a small show in Canada. I was working security and was asked to watch their trailer before and after the show. They invited me in and we got to hang out. A really cool bunch of guys, and talented artists.

    ~Good music is timeless~

  • This song was written and sung originally by Lorence Hud.

  • Ever hear a band that is crazy-good, and very talented, but you only like a few (or one) of their songs? This is one of them for me. I think they're all great musicians, but I just like this song.

  • sign of the HIV grab your cream and leave!

  • love this song

  • one of the first videos i saw on MTV back when they launched and actually played videos by bands that dont suck

  • This simply rocks

  • Anddd they show the drummer ONCE in that entire video, lol :D

  • What a great guitar band! I always liked hearing them on the radio...

  • Canada's best band, I saw them many times and to this day they are #1. Myles rules!

  • Just great man ! Nothing else to say about it !

  • Rush is Rush. This April Wine FUCKIN EH!!!!!!

  • Always been one of the best, Saw them in concert twice in the early 80's

  • Man April Wine used to be, and still is, so badass.

  • Ahhhh, a time machine back to high school, parties, beer, booze and no worries

  • ive been searching for this song for a while, so happy i found it :3

  • Awsum band. This is one of my all time favorites.

  • The triple lead guitar attack of April Wine!

  • Daydreaming about a previous King from 400 years ago when I heard this.

  • A very unique sound that I've just recently "rediscovered" after many years of being in the shadows of other bands. Better late than never!

  • WOW

  • Comment removed

  • One of my favourite songs. Ive read the lyrics, is the meaning of the song that obvious or does anyone know the underlying meaning of this song?? Its too bad, i did security at a concert summer 2010, shouldve asked myles wat the meaning was.

  • Question: the album version of this song that I have runs about 4'15" is there a studio release that matches this extended cut?

  • @blozier2006 Probably not...wished there was though

  • I remember this being in heavy rotation on MTV back in 1981(?)-this song kicks ass

  • One hippie! where?!!!! Now all I have left is a chrome dome they can see from the space shuttle.

  • Worthy of the echo of a tornado . . . something to taste!

  • Always a great band....

  • TRUE MUISC!!!

  • Checking out Triumph and stumbled on April Wine. Wow.. what a great remember this one gives. I forgot how good this was.

  • I don't remember them being THIS FRIGGIN" good!!!

  • Comment removed

  • TRUE Rock and Roll NEVER DIES!!!!

  • I saw them when I was a teenager, I want to see them again!!! I forgor HOW many incredible tunes they had!!!

  • 1st listened to April Wine in 1978.

    How old are you?

Great band, that never made it big enuf IMO

  • Hey camera man, there's a drummer in the band too. Oh, there he is, a mini-solo at the very end. Jerry Mercer, one of the tightest drummers out there.

  • @megaphisto thats cool and he is from the rock known as Newfoundland

  • Motley who?

  • cool song had not heard that song in years'actually forgot all about it....

  • Rush is not under-rated, they are simply not appreciated. EVERYONE knows their

musicianship and have sold 75 million albums. Triumph and April Wine were, and are, under-rated.

  • I Agree. Rush and April Wine are just two of the greatest bands ever and they are very under-rated for their talent and their music and awareness should be spread that they still are who they are and can be the same as they always were and are still to this very day.

  • @datinsky69

And so are Helix And Anvil....

  • @datinsky69 Well said brother!!!!!!!!! God I loved Triumph!

  • @datinsky69 shame on you for mentioning April Wine and Triumph in the same breath. Triumph smokes these guys.

  • @datinsky69 Well said! Three of the BEST Rock bands of all time PERIOD!

  • I have to agree with stickhits

  • A fucking great live performance!

  • These guy's are from my neck of the wood's in Atlantic Canada so I've seen them over 20 time's.I see all these comment's about another Canadian group "Rush",which is also another great Canadian band so can someone tell me why Rush is even mentioned in this video by April Wine?We do have other great band's beside's Rush, April Wine in Canada so when you make a comment about them go on Rush's video's and put them down there, not on another band's video!

  • little river band

  • not underrated by those who know ...us

  • @Syzygy60 Totally in Agreement. I am pissed off at myself, for ignoring anything from April Wine past Harder Faster. In my opinion the very best overall Rock Album ever...however I admit now, in 2011, & due to youtube...I missed out on alot of April Wines best work. Dam I'm pissed i feel i left myself behind.

  • hello gypsy queen. they dont write em like that any more.

  • canr stand Geddy's high voice..so its A.W.

  • Hello everyone from the Gypsy Queen bad ass song

  • A fine live performance

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome...!! :)

  • april wine one of the best

  • Music is like candy, you throw away the rappers! SO STOP BEIDIOTS YOU DUMBASSES WHO LISTEN TO IT!!

  • Living in Red performs April Wine. Go ahead, search!

  • Go to CBC Cover Me Canada's Youtube Channel (CBCCoverMEe) to see live performance of "Could Have Been a Lady" by "Livingin Red". AMAZING!!!

  • These guys play "REAL MUSIC" and not rap crap trash. what happened to real music. Hope real musicians like this are around forever!

  • Toronto music reviewer Valerie McDermott picked April Wine as one of the best Canadian rock bands ever in her Top Ten Canadian Rock Bands of all time.

I would go a step further and say they are one of the most underated world bands ever.

Check out McDermott's other bands on her list. Great bands all of them.

  • APRIL WINE IN RICHMOND HILL, ON, CANADA ON APRIL 19TH!!!!!!! YEEEAAAAA BUUDDDAAAAYYYYY

  • Gues who is going to see them live tomorrow in montreal? :D

  • Whle we are on the topic of Canadian Music -- The band to really open it up and could be considered the best of all time -- Mr Cummings and company from Winnipeg, along with Mr. Young and his various bands along (what did they put in the water in Winnipeg in the late 60's?). Other Canadian bands/musicians that could could be considered in this realm: Triumph, BTO, Prism, Trooper, Brian Adams, Loverboy, Rough Trade, The Payolas, Corey Hart, Toronto, Red Rider, on and on and on

  • :) qc

  • I didn't realize Rush was under-rated.

  • just like fine wine just gets better after time !!!!!

  • saw them back in 82 it was a great show!!

  • worth another listen

  • What is with you people and Rush? They are a very successful band, so saying they are under-rated is not an accurate statement. Just because most rational people don't put them on the "rock god" pedestal doesn't mean they are under-rated. It just means that they are not as good as their rabid fans think they are. If I hear one more person say "Rush is the best band ever!!!!", I am going to cut myself. They might be the best Canadian band...but even then...

  • @DiPinfanni There are legitimate reasons to say they are under-rated, for example, they are the 3rd best-selling band of all time (behind the Beatles and the Stones), yet they are not in the Rock n' Roll hall of fame. They were "in" briefly in the '80s, but personally I have not seen one of their videos on TV since 1994 (the last days of Headbangers Ball).

  • killer

  • Never got to see these guys.......It still pisses me off too....

  • @glgale92 True that!

  • now thats what i call pure rock n roll thanks

  • EPIC

  • decade of the rythym guitar -

  • great song love the gutair

  • good find,good quality,good post,thanx

  • When music was good. Can't believe they sound this good live.

  • I seen April Wine and Loverboy in 1981 in Dallas awesome concert. Kickass Rock & Roll!

  • @FishmanJames I saw the same tour. Also saw Def Leppard, Scorpions and Judas Priest in the same venue. Those were the days.

  • I loved April Wine from way back, band I am in does this and two other tunes, but I never saw the videos before ... wow the #1 lead guitar player seems to have a serious case of Jimmy Page-itis and that's a VERY good thing to have! Love this video, song and band!

  • April Wine doing a free concert at cowapalooza tonight in Woodstock, Ont at southside park!

  • What can i say except I LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG!!!!! APRIL WINE ROCKS!!!

  • Original was Lorence Hud, April Wine just cover this song

  • caused the old hippy girl to get up and get down, lol

    i love this stuff,

    i like hair

  • That's the way a lead solo is supposed to be played!

  • Done here..With this epicness

    Off to....Roller

  • Although I wouldn't mention them in the same sentence as RUSH I do agree that they were under rated and perhaps over looked. Although they didn't have a lot of great songs, this one totally Rocks ... the groove on this one is smooth as silk and flows like a river ... sober or high ( preferably ) ... this song is a nice easy trip.

  • MOST UNDER-RATED BAND EVER NEXT TO RUSH

  • @StickHits Dude, I agree April Wine were underrated, but RUSH?! WTF! I'd hardly call Rush under-rated. They may not have a "household" name like the Beatles or Led Zep, but Rush surely got their due respect from fans and critics. Other great underrated bands are: Shooting Star, GAMMA (Ronnie Montrose), Y&T, Zebra, Badlands (Jake e Lee), April Wine, etc. Again, I am a huge Rush fan, so don't get me wrong, but in terms of their Band status, I, along with most people don't consider them under-rated.
