  • Where do you save the maps you catch? I don't seem to actually manage to catch some maps.

  • Hi! Wich version is this ivario??

  • Hi,

Do you have a similar at android?

  • Hi,

how do you add airmaps? I've been fiddling aorund but don't seem to be able to do it...

    thanks.

  • Looks good. Does it need a data connection Stu?

  • @PilotsPPGclubUK nope. as long as you cache the maps before you fly - no data connection needed.

  • seems to use about 30% an hour. so 3 hours if fully charged.

  • @powerlord69 cool ok thanks. I just thought of something else - if you wanted to keep the gps track logging, and the vario sound, but wanted to turn off the screen to save power (just turn it back on occasionally), would it make a big improvement to battery life do you think?

  • @sharemyjoys no idea. you can certainly turn screen off - just press top button on phone. you'd have to try that yerself.

    stu

  • Could you please give me an estimate of hours battery life when flying? On an iPhone 4? Deciding which solar charger to get...

  • In my experience I find the difference between GPS alti and my vario alti (flytec) to be <100 feet. And in most cases within 20 feet. Certainly good enough for most paramotoring I do. It's never going to be as accurate as a barametric vario, but in the sky, you usually get a lock on at least 5 or 6 satellites and the GPS alti, in my experience anyway, has been pretty accurate.

  • powerlord,

The gps system accuracy in altitude terms is very very poor. Any standart GPS shows altitude data, but only some GPS have a barometric sensor. This ones have an accurate altimeter but not the standar GPSs. This is for example the diference between Garmin Etrex Vista and Garmin Etrex Legend.

  • the iphone 4 has an accelerometer and a 3 axis gyro.

together they are extremely sensitive. Obviously these only work with changes in speed of ascent/decent, but combined with GPS data the result can be a pretty accurate vario - certainly accurate enough for most of us bumbling about the sky

  • Which iphone sensor is used to messure the altitude?

  • Ive got this app its very good, thanks for the review and your help on using it .

  • I've used it and like it. Thanks for the review - helpful.

  • IF IT LOOKS GOOD IT IS GOOD........THE IVARIOMETER.ILL HAVE TO SAVE UP.
