South African Class 18E's with a Ballast Train

Pah, 4 electric locos to haul twenty-odd wagons of ballast........... Class 25 would have done it with one, or at the least double-headed. The Rhodesia Railways 20th class would have shifted this with one loco, as they did with heavier coal trains.

Another great vid - I notice Spoornet is now Transnet Rail Freight (see spoornet website for new logo). How long until there is ANOTHER new livery in SA? I say bring back maroon & yellow!!

Yes I quite like the new logo. My bet is the locos will stay blue with the new logo in white. Transnet has accepted a tender from EMD for 212 new diesel locos which will all have the new logo.

Keep your eyes on the locos out of Pretoria Transwerk to see what the new look will be. The 18E now coming out of re-builds will no way have the Spoornet logo. Also the freight wagons coming out of Bloem transwerk.
