Richie Furay....still has a fabulous voice. This is my favourite Buffalo Springfield song, and that's saying a lot. Early indications of how great at songwriting Neil was going to be.
Hey everybody knows this Jackstpaul is nowhere. None of this nastiness is necessary but I wrote to Jackstpaul on this site that he didn't seem to have good taste in music or good taste in Neil (I said is nicely not like now). That is why he came at me..all pointer (dog) like. I should not have recognize a Neil fan from his 3/4 mediocre Neil Young songs and I went to his site again to find it's almost gone but for 3 songs. I guess he felt bad too about his bad taste?
@11xzxzxz What hte hell are you talking about you mimrod? That's rhetorical (look it up); please don't answer. Website? What site? You made ridiculous statement originally, I mocked you, you went and posted craziness making all sorts of assumptions and have continued to do so. Neil is one of the very best superstars ever. Stills is a major star, not a superstar, Richie was never a star. Even when in Poco he didn't dominate. Neil never took a back seat in BS, Richie just sang some of his songs.
@jackstpaul What the hell does "my taste is reflected in the music you own" mean? That is so obvious and as stupid a statement but then that's .. You. Am I wrong to judge that your tastes are reasonably indicated by the mediocre songs you have on your site? So I can make a valid judgment as to what you own.. it's pretty bland but no I can't be specific other than you act as bully and have misplaced anger.
@11xzxzxz rock n roll is such a parody..here we have the most beautiful music..then..pan down and all i see is negativity in its most fully flowered form. this is chicken skin music guys..cmon men pull it up!!!
@baliscotsurf We are in the gutter but looking at the stars when we hear this beautiful music . And me and best buddy Jackstpaul were just parodying the infighting of the Buffalo Springfield. Really can any manner of madness matter when a beautiful song is being sung (by 5 pervs)
@jackstpaul This all started because I didn't realize your sarcasm directed at Neil was a put-on. But here's a joke on you. Did it ever occur to you that I was being sarcastic and kidding around when I said Neil had anger issues with Richie and couldn't look at him so that indicated Neil's anger at Richie. I was kidding to a great extent & U missed that and took me way too seriously. Sorry if I don't tell you to "STFU" because that is your immature way of thinking, acting and writing.
This song was on the b side of For what its worth. Which i didnt know when i was trying to find the song. So I would ask for "Do I have to come right out and say it." the clerk would look at me kinda funny.
Neil often wore a floppy hat like that back in the day. Neil felt a bit insecure about his voice back with Buffalo so he often gave his songs to Richie to sing.I dont think there is any ill feelings about this.
@bleach1958 Yeah I don't think there is ill-feeling but Neil doesn't want to play backstage to anyway anymore. Funny he has such a great voice but I'm sure Richie's is good for many of these songs. But one can't imagine Richie doing Mr Soul or Powderfinger or Old Man. Neil's so called imperfect voice is so often the best for the songs he writes. Oh course he is a very marginal artist and who cares?
Richie always did a good job with Neil's song and wrote one great song himself for Buffalo Springfield (Sad Memory). But Neil having his hat on his head as it is - is body language for anger control and wish I could do my own song!
@11xzxzxz Oh, yeah, Neil has A LOT of anger about his post-BS career and the limited opportunites he's had to be heard singing his own songs in his marginal solo career and occasional times with CSN. Probably needs a lot of therapy to work through that Buffalo Springfield resentment given the lack of sucess he's had since.
@jackstpaul Read a book or research before comment . It was Steve who was so jealous of Neil's songwriting ability. Most all the books and critics concur about Neil's genius. Say you don't like most of is stuff but the best friend of Bob Dylan doesn't think Neil is Marginal. Mr Soul, expecting to fly, on the way home, The Loner, Powderfinger, Cortex the Killer, Old Man, Dangerbird, etc and you don't may not know his Cds from the 60s and 70s
@11xzxzxz You don't recognize sarcasm, do you? Your comment about Neil having anger issues about Richie is insanely pathetically dimwitted and hence worthy of an insanely sarcastic response. Neil was so extraordinarily successful that I'm sure any issues he might have had about it in '66-68 are long, long gone. I'm a major Neil Young fan you gumby-brain.
@jackstpaul Exactly I am an idiot and thanks for calling that to my attention. It did occur to me at first that you must be sarcastic but when I looked at your site it didn't have the feel of someone who likes Neil or actual even had good taste in music - so I was steered wrong (to the ditch at the side of the road where Neil said you find the most interesting people but he was wrong).
@jackstpaul Cont. I didn't labor through all of your favorites so I hope I didn't jump to another stupid conclusion as you often do and I did once and thanks for pointing this out .. are you a pointer or what kind of dog are you?
@jackstpaul And Neil was not marginal after BS he just does his own thing (to very mixed results often after 1978) Lack of success? WHOAH . Neil in one of the most important singers. songwriters of all time. Go listen to Poco or Manassess I guess .. Neil has song over 30 million more CDs then CSY together or apart.

Yeah Richie!

So glad that they trotted this one out; its original status as a "B" side does not reveal how much is locked up inside of it musically.

@11xzxzxz That's nimrod. And, nimrod, my taste in music is reflected in the music I own. Do you know what I own? No. Now STFU and get a life.
