@StenbergTom That's just youtube, though: Youtube compresses audio at 240p, but not for any other resolution. He's right, you can technically have a 1080p video with a 56kbps audio, or a 360p video with 320kbps audio. The "quality" of youtube videos really only has to do with its resolution, that's why when you go fullscreen the youtube player makes you increase your quality to at least 480p.

Try switching between *320p* and 1080p, and listen to the difference.

@Next2Fire I didn't answer wwwKx comment but it was the same content, so i'm going to explain why 1080p affects only video. What does 1080p mean ? well, if we look at the standard, it says:

The number portion of each of those standards refers to how many vertical lines there are in a single image, while the "p" and "i" refer to how the image is created on the screen. The "p" stands for progressive and means that each individual image that appears on the screen is created from top to bottom.

The audio is quantified in quality with how many kilobits per second are streamed. 64kbps is lower quality that 196kbps, but it's in no way related to the video quality.

With that said, we notice that with Youtube, you can't select which audio quality you wish you have on the video while viewing it.

With that said, What Youtube does is that it in a way "truncates" the audio quality if you chose some low video definition like 360p because it thinks "hey, if the guy watches that in 360p, his connexion might not handle this 192kbps audio rate so we're going to lower it". And there you have it ! :)
