I am but a small portion Cherokee. One ancestor 4 generations back I learned of this heritage just 5 years ago. But the love of my native american heritage has grown. I hunger for knowledge of our past and pray for our future. This music and pictures give me such peace. I may not be a pure blood, nor even close, but my spirit breaths the cherokee air. I suppose that is what is supposed to happen.

I live in the UK, but my Auntie is part of a reservation in the US and follows the native ways as her religion. There really is no excuse for the trails that your people have been put through. It has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with cultural pride. My husband is 75% Swedish and 25% Norweigan. His family is very proud of their heritage, they still eat all the food and drinks at holidays. They still hang the Swedish flag, they still go by many of the traditions. If everyone were mixed up, things wouldn't be good for many reasons...mostly health and individual. People would always have some prejudice against one thing or another. No matter how similar everyone was.

I recomend you read up on history at the library. Africans actually trapped and sold each other to the whiteman as slaves. Secondly, blacks were not forced on increasingly smaller plots of land. As slaves, blacks were provided clothing, food, shelter. Natives were provided nothing, they were a target of the genocide. The black population is no longer a minority in this country. True, full-blooded native americans (I've only met 3 in my life, and 2 were sisters) are few and far between.

Hey, umm dont really know what to say. I am a white man that is truly truly ashamed and sorry for what has befallen your people. I live in the UK, but my Auntie is part of a reservation in the US and follows the native ways as her religion. There really is no excuse for the trails that your people have been put through. This is my first time posting on a thread like this, the music is amazing as are the pictures. I would love to see more and get to know the culture better.

It has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with cultural pride. My husband is 75% Swedish and 25% Norweigan. His family is very proud of their heritage, they still eat all the food and drinks at holidays. They still hang the Swedish flag, they still go by many of the traditions. If everyone were mixed up, things wouldn't be good for many reasons...mostly health and individual. People would always have some prejudice against one thing or another. No matter how similar everyone was.

I recomend you read up on history at the library. Africans actually trapped and sold each other to the whiteman as slaves. Secondly, blacks were not forced on increasingly smaller plots of land. As slaves, blacks were provided clothing, food, shelter. Natives were provided nothing, they were a target of the genocide. The black population is no longer a minority in this country. True, full-blooded native americans (I've only met 3 in my life, and 2 were sisters) are few and far between.

If we all mix ourselves together, we will have nothing left, we will all look the same, sound the same, and know nothing about our roots.
Us Europeans/European-Americans have our culture and way of viewing the world, and so do the Native Americans, and the Japanese, and so forth. If we do not preserve ourselves, then we have nothing.
