@camdawg1210 You could bridge the two channels of the Sound Ordnance M2250 model and realize the full potential of the enclosure and amplifier at the same time (500 watts RMS). For this amplifier, you would want at least an 8 gauge wiring kit like the EFX (item # 142PA8). Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
I didnt know so much about car audio and I have a question..Can I get extra bass power without distortion from my mid range speakers when I install a 4 channel amplifiers? Its not that I want it sound like subwoofer but I want the maximum clarity can be produced by mid range speakers without distortion.. I hope you can explain to me.. =)
@TheUndercase87 Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. You can certainly get greater volume and clarity by powering your full range speakers with an external amplifier. Notice I did not say “more bass” as that is much more dependent on the speaker’s size and frequency response capabilities. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
can 1 channel power 2 speakers? ie, I buy a 4 channel amp, use 2 channels to power 2 front speakers, 1 channel for both rear speakers, and the 4th channel to the sub? Very informative btw!
@moretorque Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. While most amplifiers are “2 Ohm stable” and can handle two 4 Ohm speakers wired in parallel to a single channel, the scenario you’ve described is not a very good one. In your description, the rear speakers wired to the same channel would not produce stereo sound and the 4th channel would not be enough to power most subwoofers properly. Feel free to call for a personalized recommendation: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
@crutchfieldtv very nice what are CHANNEL I have 4 Sony speaker for my 2006 Chevy impala 2front are 200 watts each, 2 rear are 300 watt each ! need a 1000 watts Mids and High Amp do i need a 4-CHANNEL one.recommend me one please cause i need to be loud with mids and High crutchfield.
@goodson305 The wattage ratings you’ve provided are likely “max” or “peak” ratings which are not indicative of the actual power your speakers can handle. To get the best recommendation on an amplifier for your system, it’s best to contact us directly: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield
Because the impedance that the amp "sees" from the subs changes when more than one sub (or more than one voice coil) are wired together. We also wrote an article about "ohms" and impedance, should be on that same page, check it out, it's called "Wiring Subwoofers — What's all this about Ohms?"
And seriously, call us if you want us to help you pick them out, we can make sense of all this for you, it's what we do, everyday.
How you wire two subs to a mono amp depends on the subs; how many voice coils they have and their impedance (rated in ohms). We have diagrams for all scenarios on the Crutchfield Website. Just go there, click "Learn" then "Car Audio & Video" then "Car Subwoofers" and scroll down a little bit.
Also, you can call us if you need help picking out the right sub and amp combo.
even though you guys explained everything perfectly, im still not sure exactly what amplifier would work for "2 12" Dual 4 ohm Type-R Subwoofers". i was thinking "Rockford Fosgate PRIME R500-1". would that be a good amp?
The RF Prime R500-1 would significantly underpower two Type R's. You'll need around 1,200 watts to give them all the power they can handle. That's why we suggest you call us, this is what we do for people everyday, not in YT comments, but when you call us. We'll find out all we need to know to recommend the perfect amp for the subs you plan to use.
Do you guys have any recommendations for a good amp/amps to run 2 12" Alpine type r 2 ohm subs, 2 6x9" Alpine type r speakers, 2 6 1/2" Alpine type r speakers and 2 3 1/2" Alpine type r speakers? Thanks! Help is appreciated!
Hey guys I have two jh5512s MTX Jackhammers running at 4ohms with 400rms each. The Peak Power of each sub is 800 watts but Im confused on what I should look for in the new amp im getting. Can you help me? Thank You!!
Great question, we can help you a couple different ways. Easiest thing to do is call us. Our Expert Advisors help people match up amps and speakers, especially subs, every day, it's one of our specialties.
Our, if you'd rather figure it out on your own, got to the Crutchfield website and click on "Learn" then click "Car Amplifiers" then click "Mono Amplifiers" and lastly click on the article called "Matching Subs & Amps."
Excellent video guys. One question.Seeing on how they said in the video about the more expensive amp is better designed, does that mean that the Sound Ordnance line was made very basic with a generic board like the entry level model or have they made it like the more stable models?
Great question. The Sound Ordnance line of products was designed to replace some good quality, very inexpensive brands of amps, speakers, and subs. If you cracked the case of a SO amp next to an amp costing two or three times as much, from any number of manufacturers, you would see quality differences, and of course, you should, for a lot more money.
The Sound Ordnance is backed by a 3 year warranty because they are reliable, inexpensive, and sound good.
I'm looking at getting 2 DVC Kicker Solo-Baric L7s. 1200 watts peak, 600w RMS for each sub. What amp should i get for around $200-$250 for the best sound out of these subs, and how should I wire them to the amp?
I have 2 MTX Terminator 12'' subwoofers. I want a more powerful amp than what i have and I was looking at a Boss 2000w amp. (peak) is this going to be too much power?
Hey,i have 2 12inch kicker cvrs that are 800watts peak or 400w rms. I need to get a new amp, so i was considering buying a kenwood 4 channel 1000watt amp. Would that be a good amp for these two subs? Will it power them enough so they hit hard? Is there a amp you recommend instead of this kenwood, or is 1000watt amp to strong for theses subs? And lastly do you recommend that i get a capacitor for the subs too and if so should i get a 1 or 2.
very informative video, i learned a lot.. just one question though, i have an infinity kappa 65.9cs in 16.5cm and im planning to connect it to my kenwood kac6404 4channel amp, but i will bridge it and make it two channels, now my concern is that, will it damage my component speakers?..thank you so much
If you are trying to do a decent system on a budget, you are going to have to cut costs somehow, and getting a less expensive amp can be a great place to save money, as long as you don't buy crap.
Crutchfield carefully selects the products we carry, so we can stand behind (tech support, 30 day guarantee, etc) every amp in our line-up, even the less expensive ones. Not every company is as selective as we are, so be careful.
@crutchfieldtv tnx.. ok i currently have a 2007 honda civic.. does it need a stereo change? or is it ok not to touch the original stereo. what do u recomend?. much appreciated
I don't have near enough info to answer your question. I am assuming you aren't satisfied with some aspect of your current stereo, otherwise you wouldn't be asking. But I can't tell what you need to satisfy you.
Seriously give us a call, we can discuss all your options and point you in the right direction.
@crutchfieldtv if i had 5" speakers. but if i upgrade them to lets say 6x9 speakers. will it increase bass??. and does upgrading to 6x9 speakers make your mirror shake a bit? lol
Sorry, didn't realize you posted two comments. You'd need a lot more power for 6X9's than you would for 5" speakers. Without also adding an amp, or replacing your stereo, you will get a little more bass, probably not enough to make your mirror vibrate.
Call us.
Even if you aren't ready to buy stuff right now we are still happy to help
@crutchfieldtv you guys are great. and you have wide range of products also cost less. do you ship internationally? like im from the philippines. how long will it take? how much for shipment?
Good question. If you slightly exceed the power handling of a speaker with your amp, you should be fine, but if you are greatly exceeding the power handling of your speaker, you are asking for trouble.
Also, if you are providing your speakers with clean power (quality head unit, good cables, high quality amp, good speaker wire) you can give most speakers more than their rated power handling, and they will respond well.
There's no easy answer to that one. If you've watched this video, and are still having trouble determining which amp is best for your speakers, you need to call us.
One of our Advisors can help you figure out how much power you'll need. Our number is 800 555 9408.
@crutchfieldtv you say the rms of amp should be a lil higher than sub rms.. i have 3 jl audio 12w6's.. 600w rms ea... i have a 500/1 on each sub.. thats 100 rms lower than the sub.. jl audio has a xd600.1 but i'm told the 500/1 will push the subs harder. which jl amp would be best???
I'm not sure why you were told that an amp with less power would drive those W6's better than an amp with another 100 watts/RMS. If you can give your 600 watt subs 600 watts, you can't do any better than that. Your subs should sound really good with 500 watts, and as good as they can possibly sound when driven with their max RMS power.
