what was with all the effeminate male lead characters after ff7!? they should have just made them women, like in ff13. Tidus from FF10 for exemple isn't the lead of the epic story. Yuna is, as she is the one who saves the world and everyone else is just... following her to protect her. Tidus is only going because he's got the hots for her, to get back to Zanarkand and some blitzball.

And Vaan is in the same spot as well. Actually, you can completely omit him without change to the story...

Y'know, for all the hating that gets done on FF7, I've gotta say that.....I can't say any one game is better than the others. Each time I finish one, even on replays I sit back, take a deep breath and feel like that was the best one. Each one, in their own way can qualify as the best one. I first realized this when I finished FF12, thought of it as the best one....and then promptly slapped the bejeezus out of myself.

@pillowpants1984 They are all differing experiences. No one Final Fantasy is truly the same as the other, and they should theoretically be considered individual stories. Liking one better then another is similar to saying you prefer the red riding hood over snow white. The only link is that both are fairy tales. Just as both FF6, 7, 12 are Final Fantasies.

There's barely anything holding it "as a series". Each could have their own individual titles and it would change nothing.

A four-part epic 16-18 minute song that received a critical analysis that could count as a thesis and argument as to the validity of artistic merit in gaming through not only it's musical capability but the fact that the music's theme and ideas are interconnected to the experiences and story that drives the entire game forward...

actually, aria may by italian for air, but in this case it probably means wikipedia's definition of 'a self-contained piece for one voice usually with orchestral accompaniment.'. It is in fact in English usually just called an aria anyway, so 'Aria di mezzo caraterre' is probably supposed to simply mean 'Aria of half character', and I can see where that name would come from, as Celes is supposed to be posing as Maria, thus she is half of the character.

I'll be polite, but honest; Some things just don't translate well into english. The original live Italian version from Grand Finale has a permanent spot on my playlist. Even the live Japanese versions sound good. In English.... it just doesn't sound right. Kudos for at least attempting it though, I'd always wondered how it would sound.

This is a great song and it's a great game. I'm amazed at the graphical detail every time i play through even though they're quite outdated. That outdated graphics is part of what makes the game so great though. Part with the mine cart was just godlike to make that affect.

This has always been my favorite part in the opera and I have always actually sung it to my self as it was being played out in the game but to hear how good it sounds with an actual orchestra it is so much better!

Um, when you have a perfect arraignment and a disciplined orchestra that can play it perfectly, why would you a)cut the actual Aria in half, and b) cut it off and have it fade RIGHT AS IT WAS GOING TO GET TO THE VERY BEST PART OF THE WHOLE DAMN SCORE GOD DAMMIT. They were so frelling close, all they had to do was put in 20 more seconds of the original length and I would have been in bliss. Instead they rip me out of it just before. Argh.

@OceanAnimus Agreed. FF7 ruined it for all it's spin-offs. I doubt any other great final fantasy like 6, 8 or 9 will be remade, for i find those to be the best of them all. Perhaps Square knows this--they just don't make a remake to created a hype and have people who've never played the original think it's the next new top thing.

Still..... a remake.. would be freakin awesome!! =P

@Nronnbdc17 Let's be fair. It isn't exactly FF7 that ruined it all. Final Fantasy 7 is, despite all the overhype about it, a good to great game. It's memorable for the most part, it has it's wonderful moments, it's mixture of tragedy and comedy and scale of importance.

The TROUBLE is that we had a great flow of newcomers who began to herald it, devoid of any proper RPG knowledge. Try asking them what is BoF, Suikoden, Wild Arms, Grandia, SaGa, Tales, Dragon Quest, Mana, Atelier, SMT, Persona...
