That demonstrator punched the Police Officer. The suspect was placed under arrest for assault. As you can see, the suspect then resisted arrest and struggled with police. This person is obviously violent and the officers did their job properly. Thank God for courageous Officers.

He didn't deserve to get pushed then hit in the face by the cop who crossed the bike barricade. That cop pushed him and he pushed back only to get punched in the face before being arrested. Part of policing is communications FIRST then on none compliant persons physical arrest if NEEDED.
Under the Criminal Code of Canada: slapping, pushing or shoving, pinching is simple assault. This went to Aggravated Assault when the cop punched him in the face.

Levant was charged, but the judge threw the case out after calling the officer's testimony a lie. The officer himself was then charged with perjury, obstruction of justice, and assault. He, too, was acquitted. Levant filed a civil suit, and won. 'nuff said.

The title of this video should be reversed: OCAP Alex Levant attacked by Police Amar Katoch. And it should be noted this guy (Amar) was ACQUITTED! By a "wonderful" jury. Knowing people involved in the trial---everyone was shocked by this verdict, even the defence. It makes me completely disgusted.

And cops should stop taking eveything personal. If the cop does not like you and has any opportunity to use force, he wil and take his personal issues out on you. Drunk , mentally ill , innocent, does not matter. We need police that want to actually better out community, instead of trying to arrest as many people possible. Or using force when not needed.
