The first timeI I heard this song was on a Hamilton Ontario country station in 1957 on a Louvin Bros. Capitol album and I have never forgoten it. A good job by Marty.
Where did this band come from, I saw them with him once in Santa Ana Ca., but I miss his old band "The Rock and Roll Cowboys". Never has he topped "The Pilgrim", and never will. That album was brilliant, his masterpiece...
truthfully, the only time i've ever heard this song is in the movie Coal Miners Daughter. So, thanks for the post and leave it to Marty to enlightnen me!
Marty, can make it sound like you're right in the song-virtually. Ridin on the train.

"Blue & Lonesome " may be the song your thinking of. It was written by Hank Williams & Bill Monroe.

Bill Monroe may have popularized this song, but he certainly didn't write it. It dates back to the 1800s.

I miss Brian Glenn, the bass player
in this video. He was replaced by
Apostle Paul Martin in early 2008.

Great Video - Marty's one of the best!
So this is obviously a re-write of LedBellys "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?", did Dolly do it first?
