I wish we had you at Furnace Creek in Death Valley where I work, I work in the house keeping department, there are so many young women there and I doubt they even understand feminism or some may never have given it a serious thought. I subscribed to Ms Magazine and put each months issue in the pile of Cosmo clones in the office. Your lucky your a feminist, these girls really suffer from the backward crap they have been taught. Feminism is about equality. Affirmative action is tireless in its endeavours to get men into nursing and midwifery. Feminists are also fighting to be included in the draft and to get the overwhelmingly male homeless into affordable housing. Feminists are also advocating for a Mens Health Advisory because women live longer than men. Feminists are all for abolishing female-only shortlists for political positions. I agree with you completly! Especially on the sex one. I consider myself a feminist and I'm pissed at the idea that men can have sex whenever they want, but women have sex and they're automatically "sluts." I am angry about the struggle for civil rights(not just the struggle of women), but I'm not an angry person. I'm straight (have a boyfriend, awesome guy. P.S.-if I hated guys I wouldn't be dating one! Duh! He's also a feminist)

I consider myself a humanist. And in general, atleast here in sweden, the feminist movement have gone so far that it's men that are being oppressed now.

Many feminists ignore where women get benefits.

Women earn less, but have much easier to get good grades in school. Not because they study harder, but because they're women.

Studies have shown that even though a boy or a girl had the same results in a test, the girl got better grades.

plus isn't the point of getting good grades getting a good education, and thus a better job? it's a known fact that men earn on average more than women and it's harder for a woman to progress in her career.

You should read up on more about the wage-gap. Women earn what they deserve, in proportion to what they contribute.

forcing equal pay is like forcing the same payment for different work.

Sweden an equal country? just officially. In reality, men are being oppressed. Some women tried to ban urinals, because it "oppressed women". And a school that qoted in boys in women-rich classes got sued. When women got quoted, it was ok.

In general, men make more money. But thats because they work more. The salary difference lies at about 1 %. Ofcourse thats 1% too much, but still...

Women here in the "west" like to complain to us "western" men about the conditions for women in the Middle East. Well, thats not really our fault, is it? We have no connection to it so Why should we be blamed?

First of all, i'm from Sweden, and we have one of the srongest feminist movements in the world.

Domestic violence: Every single neutral study that has been performed has shown that women are just as eager to use violence in a relationship as males. Men are stronger, but omwne use weapons 4 times as often, so the damage becomes equal in general.

I'm a male feminist and yes, all of those things are just mindless stereotypes, thanks for addressing these. It's difficult when engaging others in dialogue about issues surrounding feminism with those stereotypes burnt so strongly into people minds. It's also difficult when I'm met with hostility for voicing my feminist beliefs as a male, but unfortunately this happens quite a bit. Generally, they either think I'm kidding, I'm gay or (most bizarre of all) I'm faking it to pick up girls.

It's very hard to debunk myths based on stereotypes when the person promoting the myth feels free to say "look, that person over there fits the stereotype," so I'm right (note that sometimes they're referring to an imaginary person).
