  • have people actually seen this man play third? Im an orioles fan and this man made so many errors at third base

  • It's a hell of a lot harder in fastpitch!

  • Anyone else notice the pitcher is Jake Peavy.

  • Mark Reynolds was the worst 3rd baseman statistically in 2008, so they are using master very loosely.

  • @LetsGetWilly I guess if you figure at the time of the taping of this show he was 1 of 30 in MLB starting at 3B, so he could technically be classified as a master of his craft. Is he within the top 10% of those 30? Nope.

  • David Wright and Evan Longoria are the best Thirdbasemen

  • 127 feet 3 and 3/8 inches is the exact measurement from home to second so it should be the same from third to first

  • baseball= boring. to long/slow, you can never see the ball, and to many big airhead little boys that play in-house and think their cool.

  • @demoncutie123 That is because you do not understand the intricacies of the game

  • @demoncutie123 you need glasses if you can't see the ball...

  • This "sport science" seems to have some EXTREMELY invalid and bias tests!

  • It takes about 150 milliseconds for the ball to reach a cricket fielder and they're about 20-30 feet away from the batsman :p (and pretty much all of them can field as well as this guy) hahahah you americans are gonna get so pissed off at my comment :p

you can leave a hateful reply but I won't be fighting so it'll probably go to waste so don't bother

  • i got to third base last night ; )

  • Too bad his throwing accuracy made him move to first

  • the hot corner!!.........

  • What do i learn from this?, a strikeout? "Mark Reynolds"

  • Brooks Robinson RULED!

  • @ MrJMN2 i play 3rd and catcher and catchers the hardest by far

  • this is why i like playing third. you get plays and many people doubt you can get them out but if you have the arm you definitely can.

  • "toughest turf in ALL of sports"

    good joke bro -__-"

  • Reynolds' D ha

  • Comment removed

  • im the only person on my team that can make the throw from 3rd to first because i play in the first leauge that has 90ft bases. love it so exciting

  • Not bad, but not as good as Cricket.

Harder ball, no gloves, just as fast, closer.

    Watch this:

    watch?v=KZ4LglEXn1I

  • @townsvillefield yeah if you like games that last 72 hrs..

  • @IamAlastair well actually the maximum amount of time a test match will last is 30 hours spread over 5 days. Its kind of like watching two baseball games a day for a week, easily managed...ODI's are done in 6 hours and T20s are done in under one baseball match. Baseball is awesome but cricket is amazing! :D

  • @IamAlastair if you did some research you'd find there are 3 hour cricket games.

Did you only go to school for 72 hours?

Did you watch the video link? probably not........

  • @townsvillefield hmm i did a quick google search on how long a cricket match lasts, the average time seemed to be around 8 hours, with "test matches" lasting up to 5 days...and i didnt realize that the length of cricket matches was a subject in school

  • @IamAlastair 20/20 matches last 3hrs. google that

  • @IamAlastair Try: t 20

Not saying Baseball is no good, just that you Americans have underestimated Cricket badly!

We play both games & choose Cricket mostly

  • @townsvillefield woooooooah im canadian, besides IMO hockey reigns supreme

  • they should have used a-rod instead

  • a better comparison would be the time a signal is sent from an earth station to a satellite (free space of 1/2 a second) and is received by another earth station (another 1/2 second). from pitcher to batter (1/2 second) to third baseman (another 1/2 second). the curious part is how when we observe a pitch that is delivered, then hit and finally caught by a third baseman, it seems a little more than one second has elapsed.

  • ok baseball is gay

  • I remember i was playing third base for my leigon team last year, and a ball got hit to me so hard that it ended up hitting me in the chest beacuse i didnt react quick enough, but i cradled it my arms to hold on to it. It hurt, but i also got a double play at first lol..... Its not an easy position to play.

  • CRICKET > BASEBALL

  • the baseball's like "oh hai mark"

  • we don`t wear Gloves in FieldinG.

  • I wnna see Prime scott rolen on this

  • hes so good. underated also

  • @Jason372485 in the field not batting

  • it's stuff like this that makes baseball so interesting...people who say baseball is boring must have severe adhd

  • @manifestgtr i have adhd and i love baseball

  • @thewarnerbro haha nice dude...that wasn't a knock on people with adhd

  • @manifestgtr i kno some stupid guy that thinks baseball is easy, he says all u do is hit a ball and run

  • @manifestgtr lol. so true. i have ADD but i play baseball for my Varsity team as a 9th grader

  • @manifestgtr You're right. Some are bothered by the slower pace of the game, but they likely don't understand the mental aspect of the game. It's really the fastest sport, but it comes in little bursts.

  • @andros1984 yeah man it's funny that some people perceive it as being a slower pace...I see it as tension and release...especially if it's a really important game like a late season wildcard decider or the last game of the al/nlcs

nothing was a better example of that tension and release than when the sox beat oakland in the alds in 03...I was living in boston at the time and everyone was glued to their tvs biting their nails, then after the last pitch was thrown everything exploded

  • @manifestgtr The science of it is cool, but I don't enjoy, but I don't hate it.

  • shouldve used david wright

  • Mark Reynolds is more of a offensive 3rd Basemen. He can play D but hes much better at the dish.

  • too bad mark reynolds sucks ass.

  • It's actually 129 ft or something from 3rd to 1st... But u might be right... I play 3rd for a National Under Armour team & there are some pretty strong players who can hit. I remember in my last game... There was a line drive hit at me... I couldn't blink or I would miss it... lol. It hit my glove but my glove's pocket broke from the force. Third is the hardest spot to play in sports... Either that or goalie in Hockey.

  • @MrJMN2 127.28ft if anyone wanted to know exactly

  • @MrJMN2 qb??

  • @MrJMN2 ur partially right. but the hardest sport on the field to play is catcher. we run the field. but when it comes down to having to react to a line drive or hard ground ball third is the hardest place to play.

  • @MrJMN2 goalie is really hard to play but i would think catcher would be really hard to play but then again idk

  • @MrJMN2 goalie in hockey is hard but its also a disadvantage

  • @MrJMN2 or goalie in soccer

  • @MrJMN2 but u dont have to move at all not like short or 2nd that are constantly moving

  • @MrJMN2 actually catching or goalie

  • @MrJMN2 Nah man its corner in football..and I play 3rd always have...

  • @WTFisvF Football is not a hard sport to play you just have to be extremely athletic. The great thing about baseball is that its possible for the most athletic person in the world to suck at it.

  • @MrJMN2 I agree and disagree i agree that third base is hard because i play it,but im also a starting pitcher at 12 yrs. old with 73-78 mph fastball and i think that pitching definately is more stressful.

  • @MrJMN2 i think catcher is harder.

  • @MrJMN2 catcher is way harder to play than 3rd.

  • @MrJMN2 try catching, its just like third except for you get line drives every play except for the ball goes about 10 mph slower and it also puts a lot more strain on your legs and puts more pain on your body

  • @MrJMN2 I AGREE WITH YOU ITS HARDEST....BUT I PLAY 3RD AND PITCHER FOR A TEAM THAT WENT TO THE WORLD SERIES,AND THIRD IS HARDER,BUT PITCHER IS MUCH MUCH MORE STRESSFUL (caps lock sorry :) )

  • @MrJMN2 A squared + B squared = C squared will get you the exact distance.......127 ft.

  • @TheCrazyCougar that only applies to right angles.

  • Comment removed

  • @texasissouthh They are right angles, and since the two basepaths are of equal length, the distance can be solved using 45-45-90 special right triangles (90*square root of 2= 127.28) or the pythagorean theorem, which also gives the answer 127.28

  • @MrJMN2 or corner back in the nfl

  • @MrJMN2 Im 3rd and goalie in hockey!

  • fielding in gully or point in cricket would be as hard if not harder because you have no glove on, the ball is spinning and can come harder than a baseball making it harder to field

  • @sharkerbish i dont know much about cricket but from what i have seen the players are further away from the batter

  • @dlMrINSPECTORlb not really...in some matches some fielders are like only ten feet away from the batsman

  • should have gotten david wright to be in here

  • Okay people need to shut up about how home to 3rd is 90 feet away. I'm pretty sure he's not standing right on the base. They're talking about his POSITION. where he's STANDING.

  • some of sports sciences info is wrong third base it only 90 feet away from home

  • @zakjakestefan18 they are saying where the average fielder stands away from home dumbass

  • @zakjakestefan18 that's just baseless, the cricket bat is much more heavy than the baseball one ,even the cricket ball (leather) is slightly heavier than a baseball.

  • @zakjakestefan18 lol what are you 7? 3rd to home is 90 feet 3rd to 1st is 120.. the bases are like a fat diamond ur just crossing the middle which is longer then going from one base to another.. there info isnt wrong

  • @pookiesmaul yah im not a dumbass they were saying that from home to first is 95 but its not but cfl990 explained it to me so shut of faggot. i play baseball

  • in my opinion the fielding is so silly and girly ,why the hell do you need gloves to catch a ball.

cricket batters may hit the ball as hard and the fielder stops it barehanded.

they sumtimes get injured but atleast it is manly.

  • @ancientphoenixians because the ball comes off of a base ball batt a lot faster

  • Comment removed

  • @ancientphoenixians you've got to be frikin kidding me. Okay hot shot, we'll stick you at short stop without a glove in a major league game, and then you can tell all the mlb players how easy it is to catch 180 mph line drives with your bare hands. I think they'll get a kick out of it.

  • @philliesgurl26 I know the ball comes really fast in baseball, but so does it in cricket (barehanded).

if you dont believe me ,then you are free to search best cricket catches on youtube.

and i may even agree that fielders nearer to the batter may wear those gloves , but why do the outfielder!!!!!

I dont have any clue about that????

  • In cricket,it doesn't matter if you are bowling at 50mph or 90 mph.they may well be equally good bowlers. the spinners who bowl around 50-60 mph compensate the slow bowling with their huge amount of spin.

their balls spin like about 60 degrees after bouncing.

and that too not in that silly pitch area.the ball may be under the toes or upto the head

  • @mnufa how are you supposed to catch a ball going 120mph without a glove, you would break your hand whether you were a cricket or baseball player.

  • david wright is so much better

  • You can see a lot from the pitch also.

If you look at the swing you just know if it's coming to your right side or your left side.

This programme is only for action tv.. It is not realistic

    Bye

  • lol in the beggining when they say "We know Mark Reynolds swings a big bat, baseball or otherwise." Haha i bet he paid them to say that lol

  • @womendonthaverights yeah but wen a guy turns on th ball right down the line its coming harer and faster to you

  • the baseball vs cricket sports science was stupid. the cricket guy was a spin bowler who was bowling 50mph.....lets see if he can face bret lee or somebody like that who can bowl upto 100 mph....

  • @indiajag1 Well seeing as how most MLB pitchers are throwing around 95 MPH, I don't think it's a stretch to say they'd be able to handle those bowlers just fine. In fact, there are some pitchers, mostly closers, who can throw around 103 MPH.

  • @daftintendo well, there are some bowlers in cricket who bowl only about 50 mph.......but mlb players still won't be able to hit them bcuz they are world class " spinners"

  • @indiajag1 haha bullshit

  • @SimpleStuff31 theres no sych things as balls in play in cricket like he said in the baseball vs cricket video....mark would've beeb out 95 percent of the time as he hit every ball in the air.....in cricket, u don't swing your bat like a crazy person trying to hit the ball as far as you can....

  • @indiajag1 but the cricket player would have been out 100% of the time. he barely hit a dribbler.

  • Cricket players bat for much longer than baseball players. Baseball players only have to hit the ball once, so batting in baseball is about getting one hit. Cricket players are expected to hit ball after ball as a matter of course. Batting in cricket is about surviving for a long time. It doesn't matter if you smash the first five, if you get out on the sixth ball, you're a shit player. A good player is supposed to stay in and face 100+ plus balls and keep scoring for hours.

  • @Fricasso79 That's why baseball is unique. You only get a few chances to get a hit. You don't get to see a pattern. You have to swing at what you have when you have it, and you don't get a lot of chances to try.

  • @indiajag1 C'mon... you can't select a player who pitches... it was an average pitcher's throw on either sports... If you select the hardest thrower on cricket, the they may have as well selected the hardest thrower on baseball... but not, they have selected the average throw on baseball...

  • @scapicoco yeah but they havent selected the average thrower for cricket....they selected a freaking 50 mph pitcher

  • @indiajag1 The speed isn't what's important. Because that's always adjustbale. The point is the surface area of the cricket paddle is 800% bigger than the sweet spot on a baseball bat. And in baseball there's so many different pitches that can be thrown when the ball just doesn't come in, it curves, it sinks, there's speed changes, and also, look how the cricket bowlers run up and pull there arm back really far. Baseball pitchers can pitch that fast from a still position.

  • @philliesgurl26 the spinners in cricket bowl at 50-60 mph and their ball spins like 60 degrees after bouncing.

thats simply unplayable for a newbie or a baseballer.

and cricket bat is wider ,that's why 300 runs can be scored easily in cricket.

but that doesn't mean batting is easier in cricket as they may face 100 balls even.

stamina is required ,not like baseball where you hit a max of 3 times

  • @ancientphoenixians Please learn the sport of baseball before you go comparing it with cricket. Stamina is required, but the way the baseball pitch come in is so hard to tell. that's why it's the hardest thing to master in all of sports. if you watch the video with steve finley, you see how fast a fastball comes in from a catcher's point of view. Now imagine that curving, dropping, spinning, sliding, and doing all this crazy stuff.

  • @philliesgurl26 well , i came to the usa on a holiday for about a month and experienced fair amount of baseball be played.

obviously i didn't master the game but got a decent amount of idea about it.

i am aware of balls curving sliding dropping etc

i wauld be fascinate by this if i had not watched a cricket ball spinning,

i am not trying to prove any sport greater, and i was cool with baseball until some of the yanks commented negatively and attacked many of the cricket videos.......

  • @philliesgurl26 The surface area is much bigger on a cricket bat, but the actual sweet spot is small. Just making contact isn't good enough, It has to be GOOD contact or the batsman will fail.

When bowling the arm MUST be kept straight, making it extremely difficult to generate pace; Hence the run up. Whereas the pitcher is allowed to flex the arm to generate speed. Also there are as many variations in bowling as in pitching.

Both sports are unique & have unique difficulties.

  • @indiajag1 The baseball pitcher was pitching 80 mph, lets see the cricket guy try to hit Aroldis Chapman's 103 mph fastball.

  • @USCrocks38 oh well....he wasn't even a quality batsman....bring someone from australia or india then we will see....btw i can call bret lee and shoaib akhtar and shaun tait nad then we will see.......that guy was bowling like 50 mph and he was a spinner

  • @indiajag1 fine, well if you get someone from austrailia or india then we get to use a RESPECTABLE mlb player. Not crappy mark reynolds. in case you're wondering, he's well below average.

  • the comparisons are ridiculous...

  • I love Reynolds, but he's a terrible defender, lol... Improving though. Oh, and the pitcher is Jake Peavy.

  • The pussy's got a glove on... but good throw.

  • @mnunfa

    pussy?

okay. go tell reynolds he is a pussy.

you do NOT fuck with major leaguers

  • @filthyjames your a tool

  • What are you trying to say? That cricket is harder. Look at the baseball vs cricket.

  • @Nepalm9 not saying cricket is harder but i think it would be easy to feild with a glove on

  • @mnunfa

Well, they hit the ball alot harder in baseball because they are bigger and stronger, and they swing the bat harder. So no, it isn't easy. If it were easy they wouldn't be paying derek jeter 21 million a season.

    You're the tool.

  • @filthyjames the bigger stronger guys are just wood choppers in cricket... it takes an over bowling at them to work them out. Just bowl it at their body so they cant free their arms.

  • @mnunfa okay first in circket the pitches hit the ground which slows it down and the hitters just check swing so its not even half the speed of mlb hitting

  • @beltran2318 talking about catching... just saying if i got a glove on the only reason ever to misfeild the ball or drop a catch is cos im not concentrating...

  • @mnunfa i can tell you never played baseball
