Topspin and slice is really tough for me to learn! Can slice out fairly wide but the only one I can do well is a big flat serve! Shame thought cuz slice and topspin is more of a skillful serve I feel!
I still don't understand the notion of "brushing up on the ball." :/it doesn't help me. 80% of the time when I try to think about it, I hot the rim. Any pointers?
@BboyLancelot2 Lol I'm totally like just replying!! >,< Thanks :D But yeah I figured out my topspin serve awhile ago and actually while I was practicing it at my local court I noticed in videos how the wrist moved and I mimicked that and it toally helped me be more consistent ^^. Its snowing now though where I live now -3- so I need to find some indoor courts to play at. -_-
@BL4CKR0ZE ouch. Good thing Texas doesn't have the same problem eh? Lol, glad I could help. The wrist motion is important in many things like serves, smash, onehand backhands, etc.
would be really helpful if i could get some tips for the return of serve while playing doubles. when i get very strong serve, i often can not do enough cross court and the opp net payerd kills it immediately. is there any tips for returning top spin and strong service returns? thanks.
Hi mate, just wondering how tight i should have my strings? Im an alround sportsman with very good coordination and i like to hit the ball pretty hard...cheers!
i actually taught this myself without watching any tutorial videos lol. i never a top spin serve ever existed until i felt stupid seeing result videos on youtube -_-"
I am a beginner to tennis and your videos really helped and improved my tennis play drastically. Keep uploading great videos and thank you so much! :))
I have one question. In table tennis top spin shots usually bounce lower than normal, not higher. Is it perhaps the difference in materials that makes a the balls react differently?
Great video. Thanks for continuing to share so many tips on the internet. I have a couple of questions. From my trophy pose when i take the racket back and come to swing at the ball, i notice that i am not swinging too much on edge and sacrificing racket head speed and the reason i don't feel confident in doing this is that i have trouble pronating in time. This hurts me in two ways. less racket head speed and too much hurt on the inside of the elbow. Any drills for mastering pronation? Thanks!
ive worked very hard on my kick serve out wide on the ad side, and i have alot of trouble getting good power on my kick/topspin serves, and they also fly off my racquet going long and bouncing high with low power. do you have any tips?
everytime i try to do this my ball goes WAY over the line... there is A LOT of spin on the ball but it just goes way out... i am left handed by the way, can someone please explain to me how i can fix it were it will go in, instead of way out?
@intosport i definitely agree. two things thought, slow down the comparison between flat and kick and play at different times so i can watch both of them. and you hit on this, but it was hard to understand. how you create the topspin on the ball. the part when your elbow is extending, just for easier understanding. thanks, great video!
@intosport : Thanks for your message. I am getting better now, my knee is not sore but it takes more time for full recovery. I am going to practice again on nextweek
Notice how they don't mention why you should toss the ball more behind you and not in front of you unlike the first serve in which you do to get more power.
@MegaMrlong "behind you" means in your back, not behind you and the net. a kick serve is a must in double for service-volley move and the ball must be played just in your back but between you and the net to allow u to get in forward motion during serve. this is not a flat serve, u dont put ur shooting arm/shoulder forward as u serve
bullcrap at 1:00, the racket should be a little bit more to the right for more spin. This is because if you throw the ball in the air, you like kick it alot much forward than with the other one.
I also just use the topspin serve! after the ball contacs the other t-field side it jumps very high and so it is more difficult for your opponent to play it back!
the girl is foot faulting - instant loss of point if it is a second serve.... lot of wasted coaching money as DL is expensive - she needs a new coach or jsut stand back further behind the line!!!
These are good videos but in my opinion the topspin serve is much harder to get right consistently than a slice serve and shouldn't be used too often, especially on big points. It might be more likely to go in than a flat serve, but the chance of messing it up is bigger than with a slice serve.
I love how everyone keeps saying that rafa's dominant hand is his right hand in tennis but obviously if he has been playing for soo long with his left hand, then his left hand is his dominant hand
not being funny guys but what happened is that rafa is right handed and his uncle who coaches him taught him to play left handed what means rafa will have a very good backhand.
@BUBBAJ1010 Actaully it's not. If you pause the video precisely when she hits the ball, her feet are still in the air (I know your comment is over a year old, I just had to say it anyway).
maybe hes right handed Rafa but he fucking plays better with hes left hand im sure of that cause who the fucks plays with hes non-dominant hand in pros -.-
you really are a Fuckin Retard, he started out playing with his right, but switched to his left straight away, anyways Federer finished rafas career, rafa beat him at wimb and Aus, but federer was cruel, he made him play 4 hour finals and worked his Knees to a pulp, Federer with 16 slams now is uncatchable, in My book Roger Federer ended Rafael Nadals Promising career, he is a crock and only a great clay champ, Federer mastered every surface, AMAZING roll on 17
OMG THank you guys. Thank to this video i now have the best consistent serve in my league which is this the topspin serve and 6 months ago i learned it from this video. So useful thanks again :).
yes but Nadal's spin serve is only based on a huge biceps. His serving technique SUCKS. He's totally out of balance and doesn't even use his body weight to the maximum.
What I mean is, what if he played with his dominant hand. So, all his forehand shots were right handed, serve right handed. More power, more spin, more control.
He could possibly be better than he already is which is scary because he is already #2 in the world.

let the ball drop a little more before hitting it. That way you wont swipe alot of side spin.
Also, don't toss it so far behind you, otherwise you end up with the twist a.k.a kick serve.

true. but imagine if he used his right hand(dominant hand) to play tennis. he could possibly be way better than he is currently.

not really... rafa's back hand power comes from the fact that he hits a twohanded back hand using the power in his dominant hand...
it's like swing a baseball bat... think about it... the back hand sure feels more comfotable when the dominate hand is on top...
