  • Awsome. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks tons. Striper time. :-)

  • What kind of wood are you using? White oak?

  • I made a spook today, it's a lot bigger though, oh and did I mention i made it with just a knife and sand paper? Really wished I had those machine things I colored it red head because I heard it's hot for stripers

  • I started making my own lures like these but they are not nearly as good. I will post a video some day and ill see what you think of them.

  • Very nice work, how much do you charge for something like that ? I own a sports shop and I mite be interested in selling them. Thanks and keep up the good work.

  • hello, today I'll be 'lathing' your mom.

  • Nice, what kind of wood do you use?

  • janns netcraft has the right eye holes

  • Are you using pine?

  • Nice vid there m8 I admire your work and its got me thinking about making my own. Thanks for sharing. Graham.

  • i prefer the zara spook. do you make those too? how much do you charge for them? most important do they swim the same as the original?

  • what did you use for making your lure water proof?i wonder if i could use hairspray

  • Nice job. I jus started making my own lures. I bought a lathe nothing like your. Wish I had the money . I jus bought a harbor frieght special but it dose the job. Did A LOT of research into making a lure that caught fish not just looked good. I took parts I liked from different lure and put them into mine. The easy part was using the lathe then u have to add the weights and rattles and correct size hardware to make the lure move in a way to attract fish. Oh and type of wood plays a part also.

  • where do i buy and how much

  • thats awesome

  • @MyHomemadeCreations the name of the machine is a lathe they sell em at home depot

  • @MyHomemadeCreations just whittle the wood? idk how it's supposed to say i'm not so good in english...

  • Excellent, you should have a minute of video of you fishing with it at the end. Great job.

  • Your sisters toothbrush? :D

  • where did you get the epoxy . Flex Coat Two-Part Epoxy . is that fine ?

  • you have the best job EVER

  • Ohhh snap! I would love to try one of those! :)

  • @BMBfishlures did u catch somthing whit is? can u react?

  • @BMBfishlures hey bud I made me a crankbait lure out of wood from that jumbling tower game hand carved then sanded it smooth but since it's a two piece I put a 1 peice metal wire going thru the middle just in case I hook a big one lol but yea and the front bill is made from those clear cargo separators on like the shimano I just cut out the shape and I went for a sexy shad paint on mine just cuz down here dats wat the bass go for

  • @MyHomemadeCreations well then i guess you dont make one... just kidding. idk buy one. or carve a lure with a knife and paint it the same way as i do.

  • I've recently become interested in making my own lures. I was just wondering if you've ever had any problems with the strength of the eye hooks when fishing with them, like them pulling out of the wood?

  • @jmellady No Problems at all!.. a 20 pound fish WOULDNT break the eye screws if they are also epoxyed in!

  • neat!!!

  • That lure turned out beautiful! I'd love to give this a try sometime.

  • Excellent video! Just ignore people like lamoot. Trolls like that are not even worth responding to. "Lathed" or "turned", they look fantastic.

  • that's so cool, how did you learn how to do that? please respond right away.

  • @themrmagicmania1 i just made some! i never learned from anyone! haha

  • @BMBFishLures nice ... ! like me ..just started to build lures but with right tools and a tim tailor attitude u can build everything ;) keep working

  • @themrmagicmania1 I learned from a woodshop and metals class in high school lol

  • Comment removed

  • @thebakuman77 what wood u recomend

  • This video is the mother fucking shiznit. I have never seen a video so easy to follow before. I take it your from Minnesota? Can you make a video to teach me how to make a home made fishing pole?? Keep up the good work!

  • @djhag13 Thanks Darrin :)

  • Great job!!!

  • Good job man. I like it.

  • Hey man great lure makers first works are worth more than the real good stuff they make.I wish i had a original rapala hand crafted,,

keep all your first lures you make if you decide to keep going they will be worth alot one day!

I think your baits are excellent for just starting out!

    Dont stop making them!

  • you shud use polyurthane insted of epoxy in the end

  • nice one

  • Sorry, it bothered me that you keep saying you "lathed" it down, it's called "Turning". You should sell me your wood lathe, I feel I could put it to better use.

  • @lamoot Sorry, it bothered me that you are just a prick, and you just have to post negative comments on peoples videos, when the video you have isn't to special itself. How would you put it to better use? Making weapons like they use on World of Warcraft, or Runescape, or whatever the hell your video is about? I mean come on man your picking on an 18 year old. 16 year old when I made that video, and I'm sure you have heard this since grade school, but if

  • @lamoot but if you don't have anything nice to say, (or comment) don't say it at all! I'm sorry that a 16 year old kid was saying lathing instead of turning, thanks for the info though.. prick.

  • @BMBFishLures 16? Do you have permission to be on the internet? I sure hope so, or someone's going to be grounded!

  • @lamoot Its amusing to think a tiny detail I dont even notice irrittates you to the point of posting such a comment

  • @omgiTsmeJon I only noticed it because i'm a machinist. otherwise, it would have gone unnoticed.

  • I don't have a lathe so I sit down and use sand paper

  • JOJO3000

  • I dont think it'll work. Big fish hanging on that little screw? Anh wood is soft. Nah, I dont think so man. Please post me your video with fish on it.

  • Very cool!

I am a fly fisherman, and I make all of my own flies. Very cool you make your own spin fishing lures. I like that alot.

Well Done! I like people who put in the extra effort in to a hobby, it gives you more depth, skill and knowledge from testing your products.

    Good luck!

  • nice job little bro! PEACE

  • One of the FINEST VIDEOS ever posted on YouTube

  • How much for one?

  • Any paint should work as long as it has the coat of finish on it. Anything besides waterbase should do fine, one little crack and you start getting running colors.

  • Can i use crayon its all i got?

  • I cant' aford to have a lathe.

  • Can't you show us how it is in the water?

  • Very nice lure!! And thanks for your help on how to make a topwater lure =)

  • What wood would u use? Also would clear nail vanish be okay 4 the covering?

  • @WillmoreRock looks like balsa

  • What wood u use? oak? balsa? What?, also would nail vanish be okay 4 the covering? (clear)

  • @WillmoreRock Looks like Basswood

  • Not many people already have those tools in their garage which means they have to go out and buy an expensive lathe, calipers and other tools and supplies. This means they probably have to invest several hundred dollars in this stuff or they can just buy a lot of brand new lures for that money and save the investment of their time as well.

Most of us barely have time to go fishing let alone make our own lures.

  • @CaneFu well this isn't a video for you to watch then....there are alot of people out there who have these tools and im sure they appreciate him posting this video

  • @CaneFu maybe its not the making of the lure that you should do then. Its a hobby and the enjoyment of seeing your product in action.

  • i use red for eyes too, but honestly i havent made too many good lures

  • i mad e this with a stick a pocket knife and sandpaper

  • is there any other way to put the hooks on other than the screws

  • well, ANYBODY that "fishes" and calls themself a fisherman knows how to pronounce the zara puppy. i don't give a crap how many you can turn out of a dowel, learn your damn lures.

  • what kind of wood do you use?

  • it is easier to paint it on the lathe it gives u a better primer and if u need other colors just a tip

  • What type of wood did you use balsa or pine?

  • How mutch would you sell me a lure that looks like a roach about 2inch long

  • i want buy some lures from you

  • you could just dip it in clearcoat

  • have you tried the "through wire" method? It works excellent and if used there will be no " to rip outeyes"

  • thats awesome

  • sum cool ideas....

wat kinda wood did ya use ?

  • What size trebel hook did you use? And how many did you catch with this lure?

  • how much would u charge for a 9 inch model lure ...painted in a trout color... cause down here in southern california ..we throw big lures for big bass and well ur spooks look pretty good

  • what paint is it?how do you paint it?thannks

  • this is awesome i want to do it now

  • Hey i was just wondering how long are the eye screws because i wanted the lure to be strong but not have huge eyes. Thanks.

  • where do you get your eye screws?

  • It's a wood lathe :)

  • i think if a pike bites in the hooks he will rip apart your eye screws and you have a lure wiht only 1 hook

  • nice vid i just wonted to know if this is the only typ of lure u can make

  • ok sorry for not knowing :P i'm a domb norwegian sry XD

  • dos it sink?? or floot??

    PS: i'm bad at english

  • @sniffi10 It floats hence "Topwater" lure.

  • wow dude nice job on the baits they look like something i would buy from bass pro or something but have you caught anything on them

  • what type of salt water fish can u get on this lure ??!!

I always fish on a calm salt water

  • what types of fish can u get with this lure??!!

I always fish in a salt water calm surface !!!

    can any one help ??!

  • i like this video i might make some but do u know how to make a top water popper??

  • Bustin Bass Baits have great lure making supplies & tips also.

  • how much?

  • Thanks! what you call to this machine in the background? i think Carpenter must have it

  • Awesome! Thanks!

  • can you make me one my address is 2182 milam rd clinton sc 29325

  • @LeviCox1

I think you may get some internet stalkers round your house.

  • thats realy cool... im ganna make one tomorrow ...subscribed. think i might make mine yellow & black and get that glittler paint so they will show up better.

  • the eye needs to be just under the lip of the lure, thats what gives it the walk the dog action

  • the best wood to use is Poplar because it is more boyant and has better texture.

  • u shud put a weight behind the middle treble hook so it walks better

  • i wish i had a lathe....

  • its only cheaper when u make like 50pcs i guess

cuz the lures now are pretty cheap

but making it urself (DIY) is hek of lot a fun!!! :P

  • very nice job!

  • I really liked your video. I will be trying it out very soon. And for future reference, in the woodworking industry they call it turning on a lathe, not lathing. No offense, just an fyi. Thank again!

  • Wow why would you comment on buying a cheaper lure. Its the fun you have making them, personaly i think this man is amazing for what he is able to do. I think he enjoys doing this and makes it worth while when he use's them.

  • nice video..too bad i dont have one of those machines for the wood

  • thats true. hehe

  • nice video. but you can buy one cheaper then to spend all the money on the paint. but then again you can use the wood spinner forever.

  • @daneboy502 but then you can make alot of lures with a llittle paint. so your wrong! haha thanks for watching

  • @daneboy502 they are custom though

  • Nice work bubba! You have a laid back way of talking and teaching that is great. Keep up the good work. I have been making lures for over 50 years and I still learn something new every day!

  • that is amazing

  • will craynola paint do fine??

  • @bassboy1999 sure

  • Nice work!

  • wow if these catch fish you just saved me aloot of money on lures thanks! also i subscribed!

  • wooaah they look amazing! would they work in saltwater? (im going to grenada in 6 weeks and i want some lures to try)

  • They awesome! how much are you selling them for?>??

  • great video im sure that you would catch a big one on that puppy!

  • Great ! Please pay a little attention on the front end. The eye is BELOW the lure, not in the middle. The action of the lure suffers bycos of that, si please drill the hole for the metali eye from the "chin" of the lure to the "brain"area of rge lure. This way the eye will support alot more pressure when figthing a fish ant the "walck thedog" movement will be alot easier to optain

  • nice

  • where r u selling them?

  • if i emailed you some of my ideas you think u could make them?

  • sure

  • hey i was just wondering if u can just make the body for me

  • I add a little epoxy to my screws before screwing them in for a little bit more strength it seems to help on the 15 kilo barramundi I catch in Australia,

  • wow this really helped me out, this has to be one of the greatest videos i have seen so far.. i mean i Love fishin but i dont want to spend money on a luers all of the time, you know fishin in a river really kills ya in money, Thanks alot "BMB"

  • Just Got My Lure That I Orded I Got That Green One With Dots i Went Fishing YesterDay And Caught A Huge Pike And Some Nice Bass Thanks!

  • will those hook rings hold a big fish??shoudnt they be connected inside the body ??

  • dont be ignorant, of course they will

  • what kind of wood did you use?

  • @Mikalas193 yeah they hold he fish well, hey got 2 screws while a screw eye has 1 screw

unless he lure is made of plasic were they often have a wire running through the whole lure.

but if you wan big fish u use the bigger zara spook and super spooks

  • @Mikalas193 if u meant his won lure screw eyes they will also hold alot of pulling power, the hoos or rings will brea before he eye
