Actually odd, They usually give more posturing before biting. She is a beautiful and looks to be well taken care of. Maybe the bumping on her nose just before the bite or the smell on your shirt set her off.

About people trying to gender this iguana.... That can't be done for certain, so please stop saying its a male or a female. In order to get SOME idea you would have to look between the hind legs, for two sorta dots there. The size of these can give some indictaion as to male or female, but nothing is for certain untill the iguana reaches 3-4 years. If it hasn't had eggs iet, it's a male :-)

It's also important to clean a bite with antiseptic immediately and thoroughly as they do harbor some nasty bacteria in their mouth as well! I'm thankful mine has never bitten me!

I read your description, about the hating black thing, I adopted mine and was lead to belive he hated black because they previous owner used to throw a black towel over him to catch him (thats why they got rid of his, violent and like to bite) but I heard of that hatred for black in someone else videos, they said something about using black gloves to pick him up when it was little, is there a chance maybe Iguanas just hate black naturally ?

Once was during her first mating season when she was around two. one was outside, some dogs barking spooked her and she tried to run through the holes in our fence so i had to grab her. # Male iguanas usually have large fat pockets on the back of their heads.
# Male iguanas tend to have heavy or large jowls.
# Male iguanas have larger femoral pores/plugs on the underside of their thigh.
# Males usually have larger blockier heads then female iguanas
None of witch are present in my iguana.

If that is a male I feel very sorry for you! When male iguanas get older they have attack spasms that last anywhere from 1 day to months long and if you are already dumb enough to mess around with him at this size you are going to lose some fingers!!
