  • i remember this movie when i was a child

  • were impervious to heat, we stay cool....were insusceptible to water..and thats cool too..

  • Question--According to marianne faithfull--who stated this on a DVD concert a few years ago--HARRY died after having some dental work--right in the dental chair..after anesthesia........His wife denies this. Anyone have any further information? YES--I know faithfull spent years in rehab--but she has been STRAIGHT a long time..and she is always truthful.

  • @DavelovesRealMusic - Not correct - he died from heart failure after watching a movie with his wife in his sleep. He had one major heart attack before that but apparently had been told by his cardiologists that he had limited time with heart failure diagnosis. This is all on the Harry Nilsson "Who was he and why you should know" documentary. (its on netflix)

  • Reminds me of Yellow Submarine.

  • listen jack we are screwing the rock people, the globe

  • Does anyone remember another animated musical around this era that was about rocks, I think Ignacious rock?

  • My favorite scene in the move. I used the phrase in my classroom "You see what you what to see and you hear what you want to hear" Great when your teachung listening skills.

  • The original is in the album with Harry Nilsson narrating I believe.. I am hoping to find that version on here..

  • I have this in my house somewhere

  • Does anyone have a copy of the Point with the original narration by Dustin Hoffman?

  • Wasn't this broadcast on a Monday as ABC's Movie Of The Week? I remember it was a pretty big television event at the time...

  • What the fuck did I just watch...?!?!? Hahahaha! =D

  • I saw this movie as a kid, and never forgot it. One of the best musical cartoons EVER.

And you don't have to have a point to have a point. Great message.

  • Listen, Jack, there ain't nothin' pointless about this gig!

    I love this guy!

  • People see what they want to see, and they hear what they want to hear. So true today. Love this cartoon. Poly High is in my top 10.

  • @themdg It is a movie.

  • @phoebexanne Thanks! I should have said.. Love this animated movie. :)

  • absolutely one of the most well rounded stories to date....I remember when it was "new"

  • I saw this cartoon on 1975 in Italy, translate in my language and I found it so nice and delicate...It teached me the sens of being oh another gendre, and loving it :)

  • SCARY!!! *cries*

  • This is so creative and original compared to most of the junk pushed at kids these days. It taught them something cool.

  • @FLDiamond04 amen

  • i dig the rock man!

  • WOW... THANKS! Could not have been more timely. You are much appreciated. Gary

  • man, they got to make cartoons like this again, i hate cartoons for kids these days, they suck

  • Sure he's wise, but he seems to not listen very well.

  • yes yes yes, SO good.

you been goofing with the bees?

  • It ain't necessary to possess I point, to have yourself a point!

  • I saw the this on TV in 1972 and got the soundtrack later.

I wonder if the original cartoon and narration was changed.

The TV show was sponsored by The Nabisco Seal (a psychedelic colored cartoon seal.)

Great movie for anyone but especially kids.

The message is still relavant and of course the incredible music and vocal range of Harry Nilsson makes this a unique form of entertainment.

This story came right out of Harry's mind.

I liked Oblio and Arrow so much, I named my cat Oblio. :)

  • @swhiteiii The orginal narration was done by Dustin Hoffmann, not Ringo Star.

  • This is life, man, in it's purest realest form. Summed up in 4 minutes by the 'Rock Man' a sample: "us stone folks are everywhere just look around you" ...."Mother Nature she watchin over the whole scene and dig me takin it all in"....."you see what you want to see and you hear what you want to hear" ...."a rock in the rain is just cool, very cool" "all you gotta do is open your mind...."

  • Just open your eyes and realize the way it's always been.........from The Moody Blues.
