  • I had at 120.000km a gearbox/transmission problem and i replaced the gears. The engine is still the first.

  • Ya got me there! shoulda said "its easier to tool & bore castings inline than a V, makes them more complicated & expensive". Riding 20 yrs, ride every day, Qualified engineer 18 yrs, ride instructor for 2, had 12 bikes, Major or part rebuild 7 of them-have hand made prescision parts for 'em. ridden round >14 countries, visited the IOM TT, Manx GP, Bol d'or 24hrs, >50 rallies & other major races in Europe. Done numerous track days - hey but who's scoring, I just love it. Safe riding dude.

I just read an article and they said the new land speed record is held by a Suzuki, Hayabusa clocked at 320 KM/H and it is an in-line 4, how do you like that, ha ha ha !!! I also phoned 3 dealerships (a Honda dealer) a Yamaha dealer and a Kawasaki dealer and they all said that in-lines have better performance. The Honda dealer also said a CBR will blow the tires off a VFR. lol. Bye

  • If you were more stupid you'd need to be watered twice a week. 320 Km/h is little more than the fastest EVER recorded Moto GP bike, a Ducati with a V engine. The land speed record is 342.797 MPH powered by 2 turboed Hayabusa motors, One wasn't enough. If inline motors are so superior how did Honda win the Moto GP championship with the V5 they have been running for 3 years? Coz they can afford it. In lines are cheaper the only reason there's more. Get used to it, it's a fact.

  • If you really think that Hayden's RC211V has a 500cc engine, then the answer is - not much dumber than you. When the FIM changed the rules for 2002 everyone except KR Proton went to 990cc four strokes. Hayden's 2006 championship winning bike was an RC211V. A 990cc V5. The same bike Rossi won 3 championships on, he only won 2 on the Yamaha.

    You can deny cost has got anything to do with configuration if you want, but V's are more expensive. Simple engineering, they are more complicated, boring 4 holes in a line is harder than setting them at angles. but V's are more compact and have more controlable power delivery & balance.

  • If v-engines are so fast than why are 95% of sportbikes in-line and it's not because they are cheaper, they are desired for performance. I said V's can be fast but not in acceleration from a stop position in comparision with in-lines. I also meant rev response time not speed. V's also have the tendence to twist under the pressure from acceleration. Watch a v-8 in a car twist when you give it gas. Harleys are v's and slow. You need more facts so I'm not the mad one.

Speed is only one part of performance.

You should pick up a copy of a motorcycle magazine someday and read up on engine types. V-engines can go fast but for overall performance you need an in-line engine.
