  • The moment I saw Jupiter, you had me. = )

  • yes and those values were writen by MAN,not GOD and have a guess what else MAN wrote........answers on a postcard to GOD IS A DELUSION,MAN WROTE THR BIBLE thank you and goodnight.......remeber nobody is watching you while masterbating(i hope lol) so beat ,strum whatever away folks

  • No disrespect but not everyone values human life. Suicide bombers for one.

  • You missed the main point. An atheist saying I think life has value and I like to see people happy so atheists are good people without an objective lawgiver, may live next door to a man who says in his point of view people have been way too stuffy over the years about rules and he thinks we're here just to kill mame and destroy because it's more fun to him. In your world where people make up their own rules, you have no right to challenge his thinking. Laws? Laws could easily be changed.

  • In case you didn't know.... this already is a world where man makes his own rules. If you look through history you will notice that laws as well as moral values are always evolving.

  • You are an idiot. Morals are obvious. I don't like to suffer and don't want to die. I make the assumption you feel the same. So I naturally try to encourage all of our survival and try to diminish all of our suffering. It doesn't take a god to figure that out.

  • Rights are concepts that we made up in order to live in society. Laws are things we made up in order to coexist in society. When a person decides it is his purpose to maim and kill, we stop him as soon as possible. Sometimes it may not be soon enough. I live in reality, and sometimes reality is sad and disappointing. I'd rather live in that reality than tell myself something exists, when I've never seen any evidence of its existence and have no reason to believe in its existence.

  • Laws can change or disappear, but if people want to live peacefully, they have to stand up for the laws that protect them. That's something we have to do, whether God exists or not. Otherwise, those who maim and kill do so, and we're helplessly hoping that some spirit will make everything all right in the end.

To me human value is about respect and empathy. If I don't respect or empathize with my fellow man, he will not respect me and might harm me.

  • Also, without respecting our environment and empathizing with other lifeforms, we might exploit them and disrupt the ecosystem, which might be our end.

But that's only part of it. As humans, we evolved to be social animals. Most of us have instincts that help us to value human life. By sticking together and helping one another, we are more likely to survive, preserving those very same tendencies.

  • Nice video. This message is excellent. To religious people right here. God does not exist.

  • "Together for peace" don't you love how these lying scumbag religious pieces of crap choose names that are desgined to hide their true purpose? This jerk is not trying to bring people 'together for peace;' he's trying to divide the world into groups identified by some primitive nonsensical religious doctrine of nonsnese!

  • You go girl!!!

  • Very basic survival instincts dictate that we shy away from pain and embrace pleasure. This is a commonality except for a few rare cases. Of course the majority of people have a faith or something to value because they like living and don't like dying. Faith is a choice- based on no facts- that people make for themselves. There are so many religions that are monotheistic. Are they all right? Not if any one of them is. Faith is for the weak.

  • "Faith is a choice- based on no facts" I would have to disagree with because those who choose religion (faith) only do so because of the tyranny of the mojority. And 9 times out of 10 they are recycled by their immediate peer group or society or both. By "recycled" I mean they are a copy, follow etc. of what previous people or persons have done/ believe. By human nature most are not srong enough to fight indoctrination. But the old have to Die so the new can be born...

  • "Meaning" is a trick played on us by the material process of evolution. We are made to think we have meaning because that quality is what has been determined by evolution to better spread our genes. In reality, you have no intrinsic value; you are just a slave to the material processes that have produced you - the only absolute in a TENS world.

Evolutionists' strong desire to promote this loathsome belief to children is entirely due to the social and political agendas that motivate them.

  • Really value is the sort of thing that is not intrinsic to *anything*. Things have value because people put value on them. It's totally subjective.

  • Most of what you said there was true horsie though your conclusions are silly. We have evolved to be self conscious and so self aware we even understand our genetic heritage (as you assert) and so can step outside of those constraints.

On the other hand making us the pawns of some omniscient deity who already knows everything we'll ever do even before we are born drains all meaning out of life; I fail to even see what 'meaning' god could fashion out of his life let alone us!!

  • Human life has value because I value my own life, and I value the life of those I love. Knowing that we are all human, and all have similar emotions, I would never wish death (or hurt) of another. It has nothing to do with a god, or a faith, it has to do with common sense.

  • Laws of Rape (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT) If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

  • did you cut yer hair?

  • I don't think this question was ever about monetary value. This is about something a bit more...well, I dunno. Maybe "what gives human life value?" is the wrong question to be asking?

  • What gives human life value? Capitalism. I aint saying one human is worth more than the other. Human life is beyond value. It's only capitalism that says otherwise.

  • Capitalism? Would you mind elaborating on that idea? I'm not sure I know what you mean.

  • Capitalism puts a price on humanity's head. You're only worth what you can provide to the economy. I don't think we should be debating the value of human life, because human life should be regarded above dollars and cents.

  • Capitalism is about freedom, not reducing everything to monetary value. Capitalism embraces a plurality of views on the value of human life - your belief or that of another. It is anti-capitalists who ascribe only financial value to people. This is the logical consequence of philosophical materialism. (For a loathsome quote in this vein Google "Karl Marx" and "Abolition of the family".) When they attack capitalism- and even the family- as materialistic they are projecting their own materialism.

  • Capitalism is not about freedom, it's about competition. The only reason for a free market is so the entities within that market can freely compete and beat each other. Capitalism has no bearing on individual freedoms, that's political structure. Capitalism, being an economic structure, only effects the economic side of the system. And when did I say I was a Marxist? I don't recall doing that...

  • You do not need to believe in a supernatural god to believe in values. Values are human nature, its a by-product of how we have evolved to live in a society.

  • It's there because of God.

  • Social behavior dictates morals and values. Such behavior can be witnessed within the larger more intelligent species of animals. Altruism is displayed by dogs, elephants, lions, and dolphins for example. The common link among these species is that they are pack animals that have a social structure, much like humans.

  • haha how sad.
